maybe for the use you give to your phone you don't consider my opinion truthful or eaven consider it ridiculous but i think each person uses their phone differently and in my case that were the most significant points to decide go back to iphone.

I think the honesty starts in deciding that a s4 would be a good alternative for me and give it a try, that is what i did, but in MY personal experience the points i explained were enough to get an iphone.

i don't consider the s4 a bad phone, it is just not for every people, you have to accept that the build quality is below the standard in top of the line market, and that the os has its flaws

For ME, you lost credibility when you said that the phone crashed (rebooted?) twice a week on its own.

When the Galaxy S4 was released, i liked it, and decided to give it a try, and got one, several months later, i realised i have made a mistake……………………………...

I have never experienced any of the problems that you illustrate with my Galaxy S3 and S4. Reading your post, (I have shortened it in the quote to save space) I must agree with the others that doubt that you have ever owned a Galaxy S4.

They lost credibility when they said that their phone was falling apart after only 5 months. I've had my S4 for 5 months and it still looks new.

Only issue I'd ever seen with an S4 was dust in the camera lens. It's weird but certainly not traumatic. The only reason why any Android phone would reboot on it's own, is to prevent damage. Was it overheating? Did it run out if RAM due to all your programs being open? Were you using a lower or higher voltage charger?

Falling apart? Did you keep a cover on it? Do you drop it or throw it around intentionally to test it? I've put my phones through some trouble but I've never had one fall apart.

I am thinking you might of got a defective one. Either that or you tried to prove it was junk through abuse. I'd hate to think you were dishonest about owning one....

First of all what would i win if i lie about owning a galaxy s4, i really don't care if people decide to get one phone or an other, and i expressed my feeling about using a phone that by the way i decides to get based on an excellent experience with a galaxy s3

second i never mentioned falling apart, i mentioned a terrible look and that the crome was peeling off, if you want specifics, the chrome started to peel off in the corners and in the side of the vol buttons, also the second s of the name samsung peeled off completely, i like to use my phones with no case i just install a good screen protector and yes i usually beat them a lot, i think a phone should be designed to withstand a day to day use, what is the case of getting the slimmest and lightest phone and add a bulky case.

finnaly i don't have to convince you guys that i owned ono or an other phone i just want to express my opinion and if some one find it helpful great and if others find it insulting week there is nothing i can do about it.

The chrome on the S4 does not peel off. You must be talking about the plastic that wraps around the chrome, that peels off on it's own easily. If the actual chrone did peel off, you should have brought it back immediately cause it's defective. Also, how does the S come off? IMO, that has to be user abuse for that short period of time

As you can see from everyone else's reaction/responses the things you describe are very far from the norm. When joining a discussion it is good practice to read a little in the thread before posting. This way you get a little context and get caught up in the discussion/thread. If you had done that you would have seen the your experience was very far from the norm and you could have posted accordingly. The only other reason you would post something like your experience is to inflame the discussion to get others reactions…..

I've got a family member who wishes so badly that there was a stable GPE ROM for their AT&T S4. They've got a N7, and want that vanilla android experience. Otherwise, it's been holding up very well.

The S4's camera has come unbearable since I received the 4.3 update. Takes quite a long time for images to process once the pic has been taken. Huge step back IMO for the S4 and it's camera. Because of this I'm back with the 5s as my daily driver.

I had the opportunity to take a number of photos today in low light , and having initially disagreed with the observation, I now see what you are saying. With the auto night detection on, it takes a couple of seconds for the image to finish processing. Switching off the night detection speeds it up vastly.

Does their firmware version end with "MF3" in the about phone section? If not, I would say all they need is to flash Loki patch and choose from the 4-5 stable gpe Roms from development forums. I have no idea if they work with bootstrap though.

I've had my S4 for about 6 weeks and to be honest, I'm kind of struggling with the camera.

Struggles to get various shots way too much.

^^^

I've noticed that since deleting lots of photos off my S4 and freeing up about 1gb in storage, the camera seems to run a bit quicker.

Also, the outdoor performance on the camera is stunning, I'd say better than the iPhone 5 for sure (haven't used a 5S properly before).

As others say, in low-light it really struggles though. Bit of a strange one.

Interesting!

My theory is that TouchWiz is going to get a major revamp, though. So I reckon this KitKat update will be releatively minor.

My Samsung Push Service kept disconnecting a couple nights ago, turning my phone into a fancy paper weight. Nothing would work, not the camera, the lock screen, home screen, nothing. I kept getting a constant pop-up over and over saying it "Could not connect to Samsung Push Services." I had to pull the battery to get my phone back. Very irritating. I don't understand how crippling one app has on the rest of the phone.

Speaking of that app, and likely because of the crippling connection issues, they pushed an update this morning. Go read the reviews, they are pretty damn hilarious, lol.

Mine actually just did that last night!! Twice.

I think the Samsung High Quality Voice file completely messed up my S4. It's been dodgy since I updated it a few days ago.

Uninstalled it so let's see now.

http://androidandme.com/2014/01/new...edition-models-swap-plastic-rears-for-leather

blackgs4aam.jpg

Less than 24 hours after Samsung’s Polish division introduced us to the Galaxy Note 3 Neo, we’re (virtually) hopping over to Russia to meet two new Galaxy S products.

Samsung Russia today announced “Black Edition” Galaxy S 4 and Galaxy S 4 mini models. As their name implies, these two devices feature all-black shells, and they’ve also traded in the glossy plastic back covers of their regular counterparts for faux leather back covers that are just like the ones used on the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy TabPRO/NotePRO hardware.

Outside of their leathery, murdered-out look, the Black Edition Galaxy S 4 and Galaxy S 4 mini are just like the original models that launched last year. The Black Edition Galaxy S 4 is based on the GT-I9505 model, meaning that it’s got a 1.9GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor buried underneath its leather backside. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S 4 mini features a 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 chipset.

Samsung has caught some flak in the past for the glossy plastic used on several of its Galaxy products, which many feel can diminish the high-end, flagship status of devices like the Galaxy S 4. While it’s unlikely that everyone will love the faux leather used on these Black Edition devices, I’m sure that most would agree that it’s an improvement over the plastic shells used by Samsung in the past. Here’s to hoping that the leather-ification of the Note 3, NotePRO, S 4 and S 4 mini is an indicator of a change in Samsung toward more premium-feeling materials.

The Black Edition Galaxy S 4 and Galaxy S 4 mini are expected to launch in Russia next month at prices of around $660 and $460, respectively. There’s no word on when or if they’ll be made available in any other regions of the world, but hey, we can certainly hope that they will. Their leather backsides would help to keep them nice and warm in the polar vortex that most of the U.S. is experiencing right now. Just sayin’, Samsung.

Damn you Sammy. The leather back is awesome!

Didn't sound like the pleather version would be making its way to the US carriers but now it appears the S4Mini will also get the pleather version overseas too.

I'm getting sick of my S4, it was buggy on the official firmware (mostly because of Knox) and it's buggy on CyanogenMod (it keeps corrupting my data partition, the camera often doesn't work, sometimes it just won't boot, etc etc), seriously considering just getting an iPhone 5S. I like Android and all but I need my phone to be reliable and this just isn't. :(
This is why I tolerated my S4 for about 2 hours before returning it. I like Android, but most of the devices that run Android are laggy and Verizon doesn't carry the Nexus 5. :(

I've never used a Samsung device that didn't lag. Plus, I hate PenTile.

I don't think that is true at all. The S4 alone had problems before updates. But ALL Android phones are laggy? That just not true...

not true.

I've had my S4 for almost a year, running a kitkat rom and I dont experience any lag.
