Yes the camera is better IMHO than the HTC One's.

For landscapes & seascapes where much of the detail is distance away, there is no escaping the fact 13mp pick up more fine details than 3.8mp.

Hey MRU, is the lag really noticeable compared to a nexus 4? It's a shame Samsung keeps butchering android for their gimmicks.

Would you be loading aokp/cm on it as soon as it was there? I found a big difference in smoothness on my gs3 when it was on slim bean (aosp based rom) compared to stock touchwiz with bloat ware disabled.

I wonder how long until a stable aosp rom comes. I almost have the urge to buy an s3 (better camera and battery than nexus 4) and slap aokp on it until nexus 5 comes or a daily driver aokp is made for s4.

Beautiful dogs, MRU, and I envy the views!

One of these days the wife and I are going to make it over that way for a vacation (her lineage is Scotch/Irish, so she really wants to visit the "homeland").

Thanks for the pictures! :D

Depends what apps you are downloading. I have 70 apps and I'm using about 2.5gb extra from what came stock.

I don't have 'big' file sized games. If your downloading bigger games like Horn, Batman, Spiderman, modern Combat, Nova, Need for Speed - then YES the remaining space is too little.

But MicroSD cards are so cheap. I just got a Samsung 32GB Class 10, one for €25 delivered.

Thanks for this. Is it true that you can no longer put apps onto the MicroSD cards?

I havent actually used a Nexus 4 so can't really comment on that.

But can I just say I that I don't want to make 'too' much of a big deal of the stutters because since I disabled most of the gesture stuff and disabled animations, then after a shutdown & restart it is all going very smooth for me.

Ram usage still seems to hover around 1.3GB and mine says 1.3GB of 1.78GB available (I've seen other folks say theirs shows 1.8GB available). I'm actually trying to actively avoid checking memory because I don't want to become a slave to memory management.

Now I know that disabling those things may not be the best solution for folks getting this phone, but its working grand for me, and with those things off the phone is for me is just as fast as the HTC One.

I do suspect with a AOSP rom this thing will be BLAZING!

Your welcome and thanks for the kind words & compliments.

Will let you know tomorrow when my MicroSD arrives. :)

Thanks for suggestions for noting some lag. I will get to those but honestly I am quite happy so far with the S4.

I tried watching some of The Hobbit via the flixster app with the UV copy I got with my Blu Ray purchase and the sound via earbuds and the pq were excellent. I see no need still to change the stock setting.

I loaded the Kindle App and read some of Tom Sawyer. I see no problem using the S4 in a pinch to do a little reading. PDFs may be a whole different story but I have only minimal need for that.

I tried Temple Run. It actually surprised me with its fluidity. I enjoyed it and will just load some games I like that take up small space. Time for some Candy Crush.

Not bad, but lack of detail is slightly noticeable. Any chance you can take some in widescreen/landscape mode and post? I'm a huge fan of the new camera features on the S4 like Drama Shot and the animated gif mode

This is why the 32gb version is a must have if released so users don't have worry space issues on their phones.

I have a Nexus 7 so cards I set up in Google Now just carried over to the S4. Crossing that off my list of to do.

I have a question about the camera app:

- Does the video camera app allow you to change the focus by tapping on the screen? Or does it do that stupid thing the Nexus 4 does where it takes a picture while you're recording? I hate that damn feature.

From your photos, I can conclude that HTC makes the sun shine MORE than Samsung.

Can't argue with that kinda science.

lol. Actually they were taken about 5 days apart and the HTC on a brighter day so I'm assuming that helps too :D :) :p

Will do when I get the chance. :)

4 core. Ireland & UK have same model. I believe most of western europe gets the Snapdragon model.

I was genuinely surprised to find this phone has no vodafone tampering what so ever. No splash screen, no pre-installed apps and having put an O2 and 3 sim in, it's sim free too.

Maybe Samsung didn't give them enough time to tamper - so early adoptees are given basically factory unbranded handsets.

Yes the HTC one is more similar to iOS and its just less 'in your face' aesthetically whilst offering enhancements over the raw google calendar.

HTC email app is inferior only in the fact it doesn't automatically resize HTML emails when in portrait mode, you have to be in landscape. Whereas the S4's email app does show all the html email in portrait.

Small difference really (a nit pick) but I'd give the nod to the S4 on that aspect anyway.

Thankfully all Vodafone contract phones come unlocked now, well, apart from iPhone, of course..

Some reviews seem to state that you are unable to move apps to SD.

Thats because there are certain apps that cant be moved. Manufacturers are also trying to make their newer phones so you cant move them. Ironic isnt it? I thought Android was supposed to be so free and non restrictive...

This is one of the reasons I am waiting for the 32GB version.
