The green does look nice...I'd love an S6 Edge but can't justify it as I have 3 phones already.

If the battery life is as good or better than the S5. If it is, it's fine with me

----------

What i don't get it is why do some people (and there are many) who bashed Samsung in the past for not having a metal phone or a phone with premium materials (metal or glass) are pissed off that there is no longer removable batteries? You can't have both. You can't ask Samsung to encase the S6 with an all metal/glass casing and expect them to be able to allow the back to be removable. With plastic, it is possible because plastic has give and bend.

That's why Samsung stuck with plastic for so long --- to allow for a removable back.

Glass? I dont know anyone who WANTS or has demanded a GLASS backing. They break easily. Only lame "reviewers" who have nothing to say and dont pay for their own phones have been making these claims.

Metal back on the other hand, can easily be made removable and still very strong. Go look at older phones line the Nokia E61 and E61i - super durable phones made with metal back. Also had a plastic front and still very high quality feeling the hand.

Question is why Samsung is going to this nonsense of glass black, completely closed, when better solutions are well known. And by they way they dont have Apple's global network of own stores to repair the inevitable breakable of the glass back.

I know that I prefer the glass back of my Z3 Compact to the plastic of my Blade S6 or HTC 620. It hasn't broken in 6 months use without a case.

Square trade will gladly sell you insurance....

Nice article on the S6 Edge bending.

SquareTrade has been dunking and destroying devices for quite some time, coming up with "breakability" scores. Oh, and by the way, they're happy to sell you a warranty plan if you're worried that your device — which they conveniently just destroyed on video — could suffer the same fate. And you'd hate for your phone to break or drown or spontaneously combust or something, right?

Let's make a couple things perfectly clear: There's a pretty big difference between phones bending in a pocket (and seriously, folks, don't keep your phone in your back pocket) and bending in the middle when subjected to the sort of force SquareTrade is projecting here. Direct that much pressure at a single point like that, and things are going to bend eventually. Is that realistic, though? I'm a pretty unremarkable white dude, but even my ass isn't that pointy. But whatever. It's good video. Oh, and buy a warranty

Eh, if Samsung didn't respond, then people would say "ah, see, Samsung has to stay mum cause they know it's true" or something to that effect.

There's no winning either way.

At least by speaking out, they make an official clarification. Apple did the same thing when bendgate hit the airwaves.
The thing is the Samsung video only put 80 lbs of pressure on the device as apposed to Square Trades video which said it bent at 105/110 lbs. So the new video doesn't actually disprove anything in reality.

The issue stems from this. Samsung made a rod for its own back by lambasting Apple over Bendgate and mocking them in publicity adverts and even during the S6 launch event. That is likely why people are now criticising Samsung. Companies in glass houses shouldn't throw stones ;).

That being said, I have absolutely no fear my S6 Edge will be bending - just like my 6+ is as pristine as the day I bought it and every other device I go through. Likewise I suspect vast majority won't have a problem. But I guarantee before April is out someone will be on YouTube bending an S6 or Edge so that they can make a fortune on the traffic that will inevitably follow....

The only difference is the 6+ is prone to bending. Just look in the iphone section here on MR. There are a lot of 6+ owners that have had their phones bend.

I don't think you will have anyone complaining about the S6 bending. Totally different shapes and phones. You never hear about the IP6 bending. Just the 6+ because of the shape. Even Marquis Brownlee mentioned this in a video review of bendgate. Having something that long and thin made of aluminum will lead to bending unless reinforced inside the phone. The early 6+s were not reinforced. Not sure about now.

Wasn't Samsung's jab at Apple about bending in relation to phones in pockets? Because if we're only talking about machines applying pressure, then yeah, it's utter silliness to even engage in that conversation because almost anything will bend with enough pressure, even the M9.

I always thought when discussing bendgate, it's about phones in pockets and people sitting on them. I think in this specific context, I can see why/how the iPHone 6+ is more susceptible.

Either way, I never feared for my iPh 6 (not Plus) bending, and I don't think I'll fear for my S6 bending either. I put my device in my front pockets anyway. They'll never be sat on. And franky, anyone who is careless enough to put their phone in their back pocket and then sit on it, well... let's say, companies (both Apple & Samsung, and others) can't always cater to every level of intelligence. ;)

Lastly, I'll reiterate what I said before... the REAL issue Samsung will have, will be the glass back. We'll hear stories of cracks and questions of Gorilla Glass 4's strength and structural integrity be put on the line. That's where the real "gate" story will be for the S6. Mark my words.

EDIT: Though to Samsung's credit, early drop tests have shown the Edge to be surprisingly durable.

Anyone bought cases yet?

I've got a
Spigen ultra clear dot matrix case
Spigen thin black
Official Samsung Flip Case (fabric one)

Screen protectors are going to be awkward, only full ones are the rubbery texture skin style ones and I hate the way they feel.

No cases here....buck nekkid! :)
Usually go with a back protector to prevent scratches but not sure it will be needed for the glass back.

One thing that seems odd about the Edge's corners is that they stick out above the display and are not flushed. I thought it was really odd for Samsung to do that. Then I watched a drop test involving the Edge. By not sitting flushed with the display, the corners actually provide a good protection in the case the phone hits the ground directly on its corners.

As long as it's not as scratch prone as the Xperia Z2. Had that only two days sat on a microfibre cloth and babied, then noticed a scratch on the back. Drove me mental. I wish I could have ordered white to conceal fingerprints too, but hey ho....

---- on a separate note

Apparently lots of people who ordered from Amazon.de are getting delayed order emails especially for the green edge.

Has anyone seen the gold in person? If I can't get a T-mobile Green version, I might as well go for the gold If it looks good.

I haven't yet. Some color comparisons here: http://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-galaxy-s6-color-comparison-592687/

The gold can sometimes look like platinum. Very silvery and shiny. Not sure I like that part. Wish it was just more muted gold. Wish it stayed more like this without so much of the reflection:

Whilst Amazon tells me my phone (green) will be shipped 10th and is on pre-order, the green S-View case doesn't have any date so I might get my all time favourite, a case I used for my iPhones, S3, S4 and S5 - UAG. Love those UAG cases. Kicked my S4 across the car park with no scratch on the phone :p

Will wait until MediaDevil releases protectors for the edge

Just played with one of these at my Verizon store and man o man are they beautiful. I did experience some juttering and app crashes though which is a huge turn off. Not sure if there's supposed to be an update that fixes it or not. They just got their demos in today so it was pretty much unadulterated. Stupid fast though.

Any Verizon pre orders get shipping emails yet? Mine still says processing.
I am afraid it will be in the stores before I get mine!
Ordered the white S6 edge 64GB when Verizon opened preorders on 4/01.

Yeah but 80lbs is what a rear pocket scenario would create, why should it be tested for more than that? But I highly agree that Samsung stuck it's foot in it's mouth by talking crap about bending phones at the S6 launch event.
