S6 has better battery life than note 4? Am I reading that right?

How is that possible? Everything I've read so far claims the S6 models have just avg battery performance but the Note 4 is near universally praised for having very good battery life.

You could just as easily replace S6 edge with any other model of mobile device--there are going to be quality irregularities for any devices, especially one that will sell millions. There is no context for these issed other than a handful of reported incident--vs. how many completely satisfied customers?

Let wait a few weeks/months before we start declaring a significant issue.

Yeah, I don't believe that graph for a second.

A lot of real world users are reporting very average battery life with the S6. This was the one area I knew would be a risk. Ugh.

I dont really care about teh performance bench marks but is teh battery life only 7 hours? Is that screen on time? 7 hours seems to be pretty low to me so how do they figure that? My Nexus 5 battery isnt that good but it last more than 7 hours of typical use.
I am not sure. If you read the article it states these are Geekbench and PCMark bench scores.

No. They tested running PCMark and Geekbench battery tests.

64GB Black S6 Edge with free wireless charger will be with me for 10th April :)

Sadly black was the only colour option available to me.

You wanted the green one eventually didn't you? I just made some calculations myself.

On Three UK

Sapphire Black 128GB
Unlimited data, texts and calls
£59 / month + £49 one-off
Cost over 24 months: £1,465

Emerald Green on Amazon, same spec: £770 (€1,049)
PAYG SIM
£15 / month
Unlimited data, 300 minutes, 3000 tests
Cost over 24 months: £1,130

Guess I pre-order the green one.

You have much better PAYG tariff's in the UK. :)

Here €499 for handset + €35 BILL PAY x 24 months €840 Total = €1340
or
buy it outright on Amazon.de for €949 (64gb version) + €20 PAYG x 24 months €480 Total = €1430

If the battery life is as good or better than the S5. If it is, it's fine with me

----------

What i don't get it is why do some people (and there are many) who bashed Samsung in the past for not having a metal phone or a phone with premium materials (metal or glass) are pissed off that there is no longer removable batteries? You can't have both. You can't ask Samsung to encase the S6 with an all metal/glass casing and expect them to be able to allow the back to be removable. With plastic, it is possible because plastic has give and bend.

That's why Samsung stuck with plastic for so long --- to allow for a removable back.

One guy at XDA with a S6 Edge on TMO is getting a 4.5 hours SOT.
I would be happy with that....

Galaxy S6 Edge

Not too bad, but my galaxy Alpha (Exynos variant) with 1800mah got over 4 hours screen on time. It shows how much that QHD sucks power even with 800mah extra battery....

You got a computer in your hand. The times of the battery life of a Nokia phone are over :D :D

Gosh, I think my Nokia PT11 had a week's worth of battery life, including playing Snake.

Yeah for as long as we've had smartphones I've been charging every night regardless of device.

Same here but as you said "every night" not at 2 PM like some reviews on the iphone 6. Hope the Galaxy s6 doesn't have the same battery life as the iphone 6.

TMO = Tmobile
SOT = Screen On Time. One of the most common ways people gauge how long the battery life is for smartphones. More screen on time, the better.

GSMArena Review of the S6 Edge

Nice review.....nothing surprises here. They still say the battery life is not great but not bad.
Remarks on the flash drive and storage

The Samsung Galaxy S6 edge (and S6 for that matter) is the fastest mobile phone you can have at the moment and with 64-bit support in place this should remain the case for some time to come. The flagship offers top notch performance for any use case and may not be surpassed in 2015, looking at just the 5" size (obviously the Note 5 is coming and should be a bit faster).
Cloud storage can be just as effective for backups - being equally seamless when running in the background. And you do get 115GB worth of free OneDrive storage with each Galaxy S6, so that's a start, isn't it?

Has anyone read the pre-scratched screen articles?

http://www.xda-developers.com/is-your-galaxy-s6-edge-pre-scratched/

Hope to god mine doesn't come pre-scratched otherwise it will be sent straight back - but it could be a troubling development.

Certainly one we Edge buyers will soon find out if it is really widespread or just bad luck for those folks who got it early. Surprised this includes Erica Griffin.... Ouch
