no pitchforks here....but you made that statement before MRU's reply to my question to you.

You are correct there but he stated why I made my comment confirming my experiences and what I have read on early returns of real world use of the device.

I also have had the same experience with every Samsung device I had used and was really hoping with the terms "TW has really been tuned down with bloat and resource management on the S6" that it would actually occur because I think Samsung makes some of the best hardware out there.

It doesnt seem like thats the case though but again, small sample size and a brand new device. Lets see how it settles in and more users get their hands on it for longer periods of time.

Enjoy

Thanks Cnasty....no worries man. I hear ya on TW and it does need to be trimmed down even more. It still needs to be put on a diet! :)

It's almost as if it's set a limit on how much ram it want's to keep free at all times and when it hit's it , things are cleared out. Seems strange that Samsung would have played around with the memory management.

Watch my video here.

Only few apps open and Tapatalk can't keep itself in memory and refreshes back to the main menu - even google play music refreshes the album art and current selected album.

The pictures of the edge on the previous page are orgasmic. Really not sure I can resist now.

LOL.....i have a hard time getting this excited about a phone. Funny to see though that some do.
My Wife needs a new phone is why im getting one as ill give her my Nexus 5. She cares not at all about what phone she has but her camera lens is broken on her old Windows 7 phone.

Yeah its weird. When I go into the new system utility 'smart manager' it tells me I have 350-450mb free so I'm not sure why the heck it's doing this ? Like you say - it feels like an artificial limit is being imposed on it. Thankfully the device is blazing fast so waiting a second or so for content to refresh is no biggie - but losing your place in the forum or when you have half written a post - is annoying nether the less.

Don't upset Mrs Doyle now .... ;)

That made me smile. As a result I followed the advise. After a frustrating conversation in our local phone shop and me pulling that 17 year old monkey almost over the counter, I ordered the one available on samsung.co.uk - Gold Edge 64GB. Boom ... Delivery time- 1 Business Day

MRU/Jmerz, the N4 and the Nexus 6 don't do the redraws after a few apps are opened?

How about HTC M8 or 9 if anyone has it?

Why would it redraw if there is more RAM left? I don't understand. This is by design?

I can't answer for MRU. But for me the N4 and S6 does not have app redraws the way MRU described.
I have been able to open Tapatalk and start a response and go on to another app to get information and paste it into the TT response.

It should not redraw if it still has ram left.

I don't know why it's doing it to me. If it annoys me too much I'll just do a factory restore.

It is slightly less annoying than the first lollipop update for the Note 4 (German firmware version) that seemed to hammer ram too. That was later fixed.

I was thinking of flashing the stock BTU UK firmware anyway.

And no my Nexus 6 and moto x 2014 don't do this

Did your S6 Edge have a 270mb software update when you set it up initially ?

I'm wondering if this update is part of the issue.
.
---

On another note it's looking like I'll be getting 5 hour screen on time easily and upto 6 screen on time based on current battery status / SOT.

No updates so far for my device. It was on 5.0.2 out of the box.

Interesting. I'm not sure what mine was on - I had assumed 5.0.2 and this software update was a fix update not a version update. It said performance fixes in the about part.

I'm going to see if I can change mine to the UK unbranded rather than my Vodafone coded model by flashing the BTU firmware. My phone is actually sim free but still has the CSC code for vodafone. If I can use odin on the S6 flashing it to official BTU may help get future updates sooner. However I want go wait and see if others flash the firmware with odin before I put mine at risk of bricking.

Be careful! There was a guy on XDA with a TMO S6 that bricked it. Then he could not find the correct firmware for his model phone. Be sure the correct firmware exist first. I guess these are so new he could not find stock firmware anywhere.

Yeah I won't be doing it right away. Gonna wait till like you say my original firmware is available also and after others have tested the water.

Side note. I find myself really liking the Samsung keyboard on the S6 Edge. Strange as I didn't like it at all on the Note 4 and yet it's fundementally the same keyboard.

These phones just make me drool. It's going to take serious will power not to get one (who am I kidding). The real achievement will be how long I can go without buying one.

You can see in previous page I have a clear spigen hybrid capsule case. You'd hardly notice it on, makes gripping the phone far easier and less slippy. Also stops the camera from touching surface when putting it down by raising it just a fraction. Well worth the £8 or so from spigen.co.uk

----------

On different note. I've had phone on wireless charger for ages but mine seems stuck at 92% ? Strange. Will reboot to see if it's just giving wrong reading.

Rebooted, nope seemingly won't charge above 92% for me wirelessly????

I used an old Droid Wireless charger last night. It charged to 100% overnight.

Adios Note 4, finally sold it as a new device. Hello 32 GB S6 Edge in White. It heats up a little bit, but snappy UI performance. I love the Exynos processor. How do I take advantage of the Edge features? Hope dev support exists.

The GS6 Edge is absolutely gorgeous. I have my GS6 Edge next to my iPhone 6+. This is the first phone that honestly makes the iPhone look...average. I never thought I'd ever say that a Samsung phone out beautified an iPhone. Absolute gorgeous device.

I'll use it naked for the most part as i am working from home anyway. But when it gets rougher I may put one on. Phone is just too gorgeous

It does depend on your environs. I live in rural location with lots of farms and close to the sea and walk in the beach 3 times daily. A case in prerequisite simply because of the amount of grit and sand I come potentially in contact with.

I imagine if I lived in a city and worked in an office things would be different.

So it depends as much on the user and personal taste. But for me ignoring slippiness or scratches, it's the finger prints the back attracts that justifies a case personally.

Yeah I'm using my Nokia one and not sure what's going on. Charges every other device.

I think I need to do a factory restore to sort out all these little software niggles.
