The beauty of android. You can customize all day long. My GS6 Edge home screen. Took off TW, or at least hid it lol. Still working on getting it just right tho. Love this phone

How did you get the contacts and dialer icons? Are those apps now?

Only thing I really don't like in new touchwiz are

Grid sizing makes widgets look stupid when adjusted above 4×4

Google play music widget is busted in all. It won't go into 4x1 properly.

Icons are too big in app drawer, even compared to Google now launcher

Hokey animation for app drawer that even with developer options enabled can't be speeded up

Despite themes - still can't position app drawer in dock. They cam cater for lefthanded edge features but not dock even in 2015.

I don't think i could stick with TW...I need nova as I need to have 12 apps pn most pages and have my widgets. It's a big reason why i could never leave android now. I love my widgets too much.

Yeah what they've done to widgets in TW is baffling. When you change grid size they literally just scale everything so even widgets are made smaller resulting in say Google search bar being this wafer thin stretched out look. Its just bizarre because clearly other launchers have shown us that grid sizing doesn't have to involve messing with them.

I only use a couple of widgets. Normally clock and then Google play music at 4x1.

So now I have to choose do I want the fancy TW clock and a banjaxed GPM widget, or do I use a different launcher, lose the new clock but at least get my GPM widget working.

So if you use a custom launcher with the GS6, will it completely change the phone? Like the settings, and all those small things that would stay the same on other Samsung devices. The phone looks awesome, I just had terrible experiences with TW.

No they remain but ... this new touchwiz the other stock elements (that remain after a custom launcher) are good and vastly improved that they are completely livable this time.

What I am hopeful for is someone creating a Stock looking 'Theme' which will indeed change those elements that remain with other launchers so they look more stocky. That's one good thing with this new theme engine. Only issue is at moment the current themes available are all a bit iffy.

Yeah I saw a review the other day that said the themes from the theme store will change the look of the settings too. I think it will just be a matter of time before someone creates a good theme.

Oh def . look how many themes for Nova and the likes are available. Plus some designer / wannabes won't want to miss the opportunity of releasing some 'premium' ones, too.

I finally got the fingerprint scanner to work as advertised. I was moving my prints around too much when adding them. I thought it would lead to better scanning. But I kept my prints still and let the scanner do it job. Now it would almost as good as TouchID on my 6+. Close enough not to notice the difference.

Transfer in what way? Phone to computer or phone to tablet/other windows phone? Windows in general should treat an Android device like a USB drive..

Like MRU said, I used Nova Launcher with Lollipop icons. The icon pack is preinstalled in Nova. Really clean looking. Lol I brought my phone to my job and actually had quite a few people wanting to check it out (even tho we have the damn phones on display already lol) This phone is definitely a way to get a conversation started.

Samsung Pay

I can't wait for this to come out.

Uninventive moniker aside, Samsung Pay is one of the more exciting options we've seen thus far. The reason is the technology behind the system, which uses a combination of NFC and magnetic stripe transmission (MST) for greater versatility than either standard alone. Samsung recently acquired LoopPay, the company that pioneered MST technology, and hopes the nifty new tech will give its mobile payment system the edge over the competition. While NFC payments are still only supported by a minority of payment kiosks in the U.S., MST promises instant compatibility with over 30 million merchants worldwide or about 90 percent of point-of-sales (POS) systems, according to Samsung reps.

Just fondled one of these in store, wow what a premium feel. I'm a bit disappointed though in the bezels, they don't look any thinner than the regular S6 even with the curved edges. The entire phone feels much thinner than it is due to the curved edges though.

I'm also really disappointed at the amount of branding on it, my god it's ugly. Do we really need a huge "Galaxy S6 Edge" on the back of the phone? This is on the Verizon model, I didn't look at the other ones. I've already aired my distaste on the awful huge Samsung logo they put on the front of all their phones. Man with all the talk of copying if there is ONE thing I wish Samsung copied from Apple is their sleek, non branded, monolithic look.

Beautiful phone otherwise and makes me VERY excited for the Note 5.

I think what makes the Samsung (and Sony) logos on the front more forgiving than say the HTC logo on the front of the M9 is that the logos are out of the way and in the bezel that would already be there anyway. At least that's what it seems like. It's more streamlined into the design, so to speak.

Whereas the HTC logo on the M9 is on the bottom, within the bezel-within-the-bezel and so it just feels like that black space is wasted space (even though we know it's not). Plus, you're reaching over the HTC logo because it's on the bottom, so psychologically, it feels like it's in the way.

It's all about perception, I guess. The S6/Xperia fronts just generally look more balanced than the HTC M9's.

The European model doesn't have that writing on the back of the s6/s6 edge thank goodness

I have the Galaxy S6 Edge 64GB Black. It definitely has advantages like the camera is awesome, root and its nice having a file system. I know the android guys get mad when you say this but its not a replacement for my iPhone 6+. The reasons are for one the screen just seems small, the battery life is no comparison (iPhone 6+ blows it away), and at times (yes even with 8 cores) it can lag. I need to capture a photo quickly and the camera app locked up and ended up taking a picture of the ground. The edge thing seems cool but I noticed that when the "edge" is on the entire screen was on thats got to be a battery killer. The device feels great in the hand. One thing I never liked about android is how all the icons look different, some are round, some are square, some are square with round corners, I wish they looked more uniform. In the end my iPhone is my go to phone. Thats just me and this is all just opinion...

Interesting since EVERY case you buy for an iPhone has a circle cut out of the back so you can see the only branding on it. I dont think the GS6 branding is huge. Of course mine is without the word "Edge" on it.

I like the Apple on the iphones, but of course this is highly subjective. If Samsung had a cool logo, let's say a strawberry, I'd be very happy with them putting it on the back. But to spoil it with those huge letters, it's like saying hey your too freakin stupid to know what phone you bought. The logo on the front though is the worst, and they could fill the entire back with text for all I care if they just got rid of the front Samsung logo. PS: all the iPhone cases I've seen don't have the apple logo cut out, including the official leather case.

Also I'm not a huge fan of the brushed aluminum surround. It looks great, and I'm not knocking it, but personally I'd have loved to have a metallic black surround. For example the Nexus 6 has the nicest looking surround I've seen yet, it's black and matches the case and front screen and just makes the phone look badass.

Android Easter Egg

Anyone try this on their new S6 Edge?

Settings>About>Tap android version 3 times very fast, you will see lollipop, keep pressing it for 5-6 times and then long press it.

I got a very high score of 3! :)

EH, I dont care about a logo. Im covering it with a case anyways....with no hole cut out whether it is a Apple, a Pear, a Walnut, or whatever cool logo is out there. Protection from cracking the glass back is priority #1. Everyone knows you have an iPhone without that hole. Now if it lit up or changed colors or functioned as a black light or something cool, ....then i can see it.
