Not releasing in Europe as part of the initial release is a mistake in my book. hope those rumors are false. I think they should make both models available at the same time.

I do wonder how any multinational company can avoid Europe. Surely its Europe and the US that have the money to spend on these high priced devices. Every other country has wealth spread amongst only a few of their population.

I don't get it either. Unless they have supply problems and want to do a staggered release between the Note 5 and S6 Plus.

I imagine the press/media would create a big backlash if it doesn't. I think of all the rumours it's the most unlikely to be true ...

Even a staggered release would be a PR disaster, especially as the reports are they moved this forward to get ahead of the iPhone 6S release.

30-50% in one to two months?

Not likely. Not that much

In the UK, this is the ideal time period to buy new phones. It gives the carriers enough time to see that the devices aren't shifting and therefore makes them discount it more heavily. Got an excellent deal for my Note 4 and Note 3 before that.

The edge plus will come with a silly RRP as that is just Samsung. Just dont dismiss buying this phone because of the silly RRP. I plan to get this phone (64/128gb) but wont pay more than a £30-35pm contract with no upfront cost and plenty of data.

Much like how Sony has pretty much avoided the USA ... Companies make bizarre decisions at times.

Moto avoided Europe for years and only really hit Europe big time with the Moto G. The Moto G saleswise is their flagship especially in Europe.

It would have been more noteworthy if Samsung France leaked the Note 5 and then we could at least know if was coming to Europe. It's fate is still a mystery.

Interesting that they say it'll be available to pre-order for a week ending August which must mean its not launching to buy straight away, at least from Samsung France.

Europe is one of samsung's biggest markets. I can't understand why they aren't releasing this in Europe. Europe should be in the first wave of launch countries.

They are indeed releasing this model, the S6 Edge Plus in Europe. The rumour circulating is that the Note 5 however will be delayed or not launched in Europe. But yeah if that does turn out to be true - I think it would be a massive miscalculation ....

Of course Samsung could do the old 'were not releasing it' announcement, wait for the inevitable outcry, and then have a sudden change of heart and say 'due to overwhelming demand we are now releasing in europe' giving them some extra few weeks in the news headlines and more marketing out of it...

That could be a possibility, but honestly it doesn't look like there is a lot of demand for the note series, the note 4 was a failure, from a sales perspective and it looks like the note 5 will sell even less than the note 4.

Personally, I don't understand the purpose of the Galaxy 6 edge plus.

Who will it appeal to?

The S6 Edge Plus is clearly aimed at the iPhone 6 Plus.

The Note has always been for more "pro" users with lots of features. But they could subtly start killing it off or demoting it.

This would be silly but I can understand them pushing ahead with the S6 Edge Plus, as it's got more of a market for it.

They have added the App's edge - like the people edge. But this is apparently coming to standard Edge users. The only difference is size, extra 1gb ram and bigger battery.

Though they glossed over battery details SOOOOOO fast in the launch event - not even mentioning power saving only fast charging and wireless charging. That gives concern too.

The $920 for USA price of the S6 Edge plus - with currency exchange rates and VAT means that my worst case scenario for pricing too has been realised. I expect it to be in excess €1k over here now unlocked. Even subsidised your looking at €600+ on a 24 month contract. Basically more expensive on contract than the price of a Moto X Style unlocked...

At that price range it will remain a very 'niche' device.

Less than 500k niche?

Totally agree, you hardly see any S6 Edge's around let alone something costing even more. Bad move by Samsung. I predict Sony will grab some of their share now especially if they keep expandable storage and keep their skin light, shame about the 810 chip being used? But The Z5 could pinch some Samsung sales now. Especially if Sony totally revamp the camera system.

It's pretty clear that Samsung officially has a logistics problem in a big way ever since the S6. They really need to go back and rethink their product planning and releases because these narrow product launches are a bad idea.

I must say the S6 edge plus appeals to me over the Note 5 purely because it is the most stunning looking handset on the market with a good sized screen

Anyone hear any mention of multi window apps on the edge plus? I'd be really disappointed if the software was just blown up from the regular S6 edge and they didn't add any phablet features like multi window.

From what I gather it’s the same feature wise just bigger...

Bleh, so no differentiation at all.
Doesn’t appear so and from the sounds they still havn’t took advantage of the edge screen at all. Guess we will see in more hands on videos but it just seems like a bigger S6 edge. Even has the same battery.
