So I found a 32GB Black Edge+ for 550! However, it's rooted :(. How hard would it be to resell if I were to pull the trigger on this purchase?

Edit: dam, it seems that with KNOX tripped, I won't be able to get carrier updates; which in return, would make this a hard sell.

You still can get carrier updates once you flash back an official carrier firmware. The issue is you won't be able to use Samsung pay and some have had mixed fortunes with fingerprint scanner after Knox has been tripped.

In fairness Apple had the Newton with its stylus long before Samsung had the Note series. Also the pencil isn't designed like a stylus in the Newton or Note series. it's more like a Wacom art pen. It's designed more for drawing / painting the physical interactivity to navigate / text entry. There is a difference. The pencil is designed solely around drawing / digital painting.

Likewise artists have been using Wacom pens for years - long before Samsung used them.

Let's also not forget poor old Palm or Windows devices with stylee.

They didn't copy Samsung here I'm afraid.

Your other points valid - but this one not really.

This is why I said "influenced". I highly doubt Samsung's S-pen didn't influence the decision of Apple's Pencil. And I'm speaking on influence from our present era, not who historically copied who, cause nobody wins that comparison.

I would remind them you have been massively inconvenienced and the major competitor they wish to emulate on many levels would have replaced the phone long before now. It's time to change that rubbish policy! It sounds like they've put you through the mill somewhat here, it's the least they could do. Hope you get it sorted!

I rang them today. They have promised me if it isn't repaired 'this time' :rolleyes: and returns with same problem they will escalate it and then they will see about replacement. They are a joke - the staff are perfectly pleasant and i do have some empathy for the poor person at the end of the phone - they are just hindered by the regulations they have to abide by otherwise the threat of losing their jobs.

On the other hand - google rang me today and they are FANTASTICALLY helpful. They reached out to me to offer a solution to a problem that I've ran into before and they offered me a possible solution not normally available. So yeah it's a tale of two companies really.

More proof of ****** service.

Three days ... courier still hasn't collected my phone. Repeated calls to Samsung where they tell me it will be collected !!!!

Then just now I get a phone call from Samsung Customer Relations department ..

Samsung - Would you be happy to answer a survey on your repair.
Me - Oh, yes !!!!
Samsung - How would I rate the repair service ? 7 being best; 1 being worse ...
Me - 1 ...
Samsung - Oh; sorry to hear that. Can I ask why ?
Me - Because it came back from repair still broken and clearly hadn't been checked.
Samsung - Oh. In that case I can't continue the survey if the item isn't fixed. Are you sending it back in to be repaired ?
Me - YES! Three days ago I rang to arrange this and you still haven't collected !!!
Samsung - Oh, well in that case is it alright if I give you a ring back in a couple of weeks and hopefully it will be repaired...

As soon as they realised they hadn't fixed the issue - they basically shut down the survey. Which sounds to me like they just didn't want negative feedback to their survey. Talk about infuriating.

I think that may be a strategy I have to follow going forward. At this stage the phone won't be collected now till next week. So that's 5 days wasted for a start taking us to close to near two weeks since first reported. It's just really poor service on a near €1k device.

It looks like the new AT&T update fixed the wireless charging and intermittent fast charging issues. Does anyone know what else is fixed with the update?

Battery life has been very inconsistent on my +

On WiFi with mobile turned off I can get 5 hours easily SOT

On Three Ireland network, mostly 3G & WiFi I am down to 3 hours SOT .

Terrible service that is. imagine if it was your only phone? This is a category were Samsung needs to take a leaf from apples book, this is the one thing holding me back from trying Samsung. It's no good having the best, top spec phone if it breaks and you're without it for an extended period.

Got my carrier unlock code for the S6 Edge Plus - just flashing an unbranded official UK/Ireland firmware and I'm sorted :)

My standard Edge ..... still awaiting collection :(

I've seen the edge plus as low as $599 on swappa 2 freaking weeks after it was released. I think it's holding steady at 600-650 depending on carrier. I'll probably pick one up when I get bored with my 6s, I'll bet after the 6s release they tank further and will probably be closer to $500, a sweet phone to get for that price.

I agree but I went with a Note 5 instead. Maybe I could cancel my purchase but I doubt it now because I don't want to pay up more.

Damn you guys are making me so jealous.
I see that they've reduced the price of the Edge+ on the Samsung store by £150! That's just crazy. It's now the same price as it was on Giffgaff, which has reduced by £30 since I last checked, and I'm hoping for a further discount there. And weirdly enough, it's actually cheaper than the standard Edge.
Still can't decide between black and gold though. Gold looks super sexy, but the black looks super stealthy. Black shows more fingerprints, but makes the screen blend in when using a dark mode. But gold still shows fingerprints, and it would still look pretty cool with a dark mode. My heart tells me to go for the gold though
