Got my S6 Edge back from repair. Much quicker than they had quoted so I was surprised. Sold it already to a friend for €475 ... Just about covers the S6 Edge Plus I bought the other day so I'm content. I see it as a fiscally neutral upgrade ;)

I think it's great. TBH the big selling point is the curve and the way it feels with navigating android menus, swiping in from right and left. It feels really good.

I imagine in the same way Force Touch once used to it will feel equally as natural.
Battery life has been generally great and up there with my 6 Plus.
Camera is fab, the super quick launch is something I hope other manufacturers implement.

My biggest reservation with the S6 Edge plus may not affect you, but for me it's, resale value. I don't think I've seen a phone drop as quickly resale wise. I basically sold my standard edge for 50% of what I paid for it 3 months ago. (Standard S6 Edge). Thankfully I got a great deal on the plus :)

The iPhone will undoubtably hold better resale value. When we're paying as much as we are, I think that is an important consideration.

It is however a great phone and aesthetically beautiful.

Spoke too soon about my Samsung repaired S6 Edge.

Charging the phone tonight to send to my friend and it starts rebooting and locking up again!!! FFS Samsung. Gonna have to contact them and send it in for repair again !! They must have tested it for like 5 minutes.

Will try and insist I want a replacement ...

Thats the problem with non Apple devices especially Samsung. Customer service is appalling. Same with Sony.

Apple have the best customer service of any company in the world after Amazon. Why doesnt Samsung copy Apples customer service amongst their list of things to copy? They tried to copy the presence of stores in town centres but have since closed most of them down. They really need to look at this if they really want to compete.

Video of the device issues ... Filmed ironically with the device sat on top of Samsung's repair notes sent back with the 'fixed' device.

What did they copy or what do you think they copied?

From my experience with my local Samsung repair centres they have been great but I do think apples approach is miles ahead except for the odd time you get a jobsworth in their stores.

One of the great things about Apple is the knowledge that if you have a problem you get it sorted promptly. It also helps that I live less than a mile from my local Apple Store.

What do you mean what did they copy? Samsung spend their whole strategy copying Apple yet the thing they dont copy is customer service and the ability to swap out a faultly phone with a new phone on the spot nor at least repair the device with little hassle. Even when they had stores repairs were cumbersome.

Who cares about copying. Apple copies Google. Samsung copies Apple.

If the phones they spew out are good, consumers win!

I think the issue eluded to is that if they are copying then they need to try harder when it comes to customer support.

I don't think they are copying but I do think their customer support outside of USA/UK is shockingly bad.

To have a phone 'repaired' by them to come back in a state where it as demonstrated in my video locks up reboots 6 times in 7 minutes. How does that pass their repair inspection ?? Likewise I do think I should be entitled to a replacement device

I've always thought part of the Apple Tax we pay when buying their products is at least generally reflected in their repair / replace policies and generally high quality customer support regardless of where you are, and their international warranty.

Now Samsung are asking as high a retail price, they should be offering similar quality of service regardless of where you are.

Sorry I thought it was rather self explanatory. What I mean is, what do you think Samsung copied from Apple? Hope you understand now, sorry I didn't make it clearer before.

You should demand a new phone.

By the way I love that fading out effect you get when you close the music app (and something is playing). On my Note 3, when i'd exit the app it just shut the music off immediately.

Non fanboy here. Ive probably bought more Samsung stuff over the years than most on here. I dont just own one Samsung phone and therefore have to defend it like fanboys on here (check the users who click your like button). Also just to be clear I prefer Android but can clearly see why it has been hindered by the relatively terrible hardware in the past.

As for your question, yes it is so dumb which is why I am not bothering to answer it. Just read the forum here for examples. Yes other manufacturers copy each other too but it has been proven (internal email within Samsung) about how fanatical Samsung is with Apple. Shame they haven't gone the whole hog with the customer service side.
Apple has the best customer service in the business IMHO. They have never let me down. I wish all companies emulated them!
All OEMs copy each other. We as consumers benefit from that with better products and services.
Samsung is obsessed with Apple? Well they should be! Apple is the market leader and one of the most profitable companies in the world!
Those emails you reference from the Apple v. Samsung trial. How did that trial go for Apple? I think a lot of their patents were invalidated over time from that trial. Most if not all of the awards have been dwindled down to nothing.
No fanboy here either.....I have bought and continue to buy more Apple products than any other company. I have house full of them. Have a 6s Plus coming on Sept 25th can't wait!

The reason I replied to your posting..... I was the only one to "like" the post you replied to.

I'm not saying they have never copied anything from Apple but Apple have copied a lot more from the likes of Samsung.

That so true, but is ignored because they are Apple.

But let Samsung put a similar looking speaker grill on the bottom of the phone, now the entire phone is magically a clone of the iPhone. LOL

I demanded. "It's not our policy" was the only response.

That's truly unfortunate MRU. Was this response from the authorized repair service or from Samsung themselves? If Samsung, have you considered dropping the 'A' word on them, as in 'I guess it's no longer my policy to purchase Samsung phones, guess I'll go order an iPhone from A...' ;)

See if that gets any traction.

No.2 is years old.. Really?.. Samsung pay.. ?Arnt all the pay options.just offshoots from Google wallet ?..
How's notification centre working out for you.. Now where have I seen that before.. Mmm.. Those antenna lines on the back of the 6 plus, mmm.. Where have I seen those before... Live pictures.. Mmm...where have I seen those before.. Oversize tablets with a stylus . mmm.. Where have I seen those before.. Shall I go on, or shall we just accept that everyone copies off everyone else ..

So you have a go at someone wearing a different brand of jeans.. They all look the same.. Someone must be copying...

I dont disagree with you. However once Apple have done something or copied someone, you can be sure Samsung will follow suit because Apple have done it.

Yes no. 2 is years old but Samsung have been copying for that long. I just cant be bothered to list everything.

So I found a 32GB Black Edge+ for 550! However, it's rooted :(. How hard would it be to resell if I were to pull the trigger on this purchase?

Edit: dam, it seems that with KNOX tripped, I won't be able to get carrier updates; which in return, would make this a hard sell.

12) Apple Pencil ...... LOL, they didn't want to call it a Pen to make it look like Samsung didn't influence it.
?

In fairness Apple had the Newton with its stylus long before Samsung had the Note series. Also the pencil isn't designed like a stylus in the Newton or Note series. it's more like a Wacom art pen. It's designed more for drawing / painting the physical interactivity to navigate / text entry. There is a difference. The pencil is designed solely around drawing / digital painting.

Likewise artists have been using Wacom pens for years - long before Samsung used them.

Let's also not forget poor old Palm or Windows devices with stylee.

They didn't copy Samsung here I'm afraid.

Your other points valid - but this one not really.
