Does your carrier have insurance?

I cracked my S6 edge display last week. And cause I got T-mobile JUMP. They sent me a replacement phone the next day. Filed a claim Tuesday around noon, and got my replacement Weds at 3:00 pm. And I was lucky to get a new one, not refurbished. Manufactured in July 2015. It was a $175 deductible though, but local repair shops charge more for OEM display replacements for the S6 edge.

No I didn't buy through the carrier .. Bought outright.

In Europe do all the phones work on all the carriers? What happens when you cross country lines? Seems like it could be a real headache

Just picked up the S6 Edge Plus. The screen is INCREDIBLE. Resolution is SO MUCH nicer than iPhone 6 Plus. Blazing fast speed, much lighter, and the glass and metal construction makes a Samsung device finally on par with Apple build quality.

Couldn't be happier.

And that camera. Ugh! 16 megapixel back, 5 mp front? Larger aperture?

Best decision I've made w/ technology in a LONG time.

Will your carrier provide coverage all over Europe or does it hand off to another carrier?

Your carrier will provide coverage but then you enter the realms of 'roaming' where you are charged extortionate fees for data and calls unless you are on a network that offers free roaming rates to certain countries where they have their network such as Three.

However if you were really roaming or planning on spending time in another country its cheaper to pick up a Pay As You Go sim from the local carrier in that country and throw it into your phone.

If you don't have a roaming plan, or use the countries local sim - there have been many instances where holiday makers / visitors have ended up with thousands of pounds / euro bills by the time they get home. Especially if they consume data whilst abroad.

Damn

this is why samsung needs stores.

that would be awesome to have Samsung sales/service stores. :)
They do and have done for a while now.

http://www.samsung.com/uk/retail/find_your_nearest_store.html

I noticed they started taking over CarphoneWarehouse stores first with tons of Samsung stuff in those stores before actually rebranding the store as Samsung with only their own stuff.

I believe they handle repairs in those stores but there's also a dedicated repair centre close to me as well although it's basically a super small store with a service desk and a few chairs for waiting customers.

I tried out an Edge 32 GB in a store. Really impressed with the screen and how android has evolved since I last left it but when I looked at the storage I saw that 16 GB was used by the system! Is that normal? Can that space be recovered by removing all the bloatware and by how much?
Because of this there wasn't really that much user space available and I see that Samsung has adopted the same overpricing of storage upgrade as Apple (32 GB -> 64 GB is 100 euro more ugh).
In contrast the store had also a LG G4 and that had only a couple of GB as system storage.

The Edge+ is very tempting. It was a factor in my passing on the iPhone 6S pre-order and giving the change back to Apple some additional thought.

Well considering I just bought this one for 480 euro (agreed €500 but was given 20 back to pay for unlock code). The only issue is clearly resell value on this device - considering its only just released is still poor. For buyers it's great but for sellers awful. The iPhone will keep its value longer, I have offers of 550-600 on my 6plus when I come to sell it for the 6S plus.

Just finished installing my Apps on my new edge plus.

@MRU I know its only been a few hours but what are your first impressions of the Edge+? Do you still like the Note 5 better? Compared to the Note, how does it feel in hand?

Also, looking at the pic you posted, is the screen slightly warm?

I have amoled photograph mode on which does verge to a warmer white.

So far I have to say I prefer the edge plus to the note 5. I think it feels better in my hands. Of course I miss the spen stuff from it, but generally I find it just a nicer device to hold and feel / use. It feels much lighter than the note 5 though I know it's only a few grams.

Still very much a fingerprint magnet.

I much prefer the size of the edge plus to the standard edge. Battery seems to be doing just as well as Note 5 so far.

I do like people and apps edge.

So I've had a good few hours now.

Battery is basically the same as the Note 5. So that means easily 5 hours SOT without too much worry. Indeed I'm at 55% battery right now and have 3 hours of SOT.

Apps edge and the extra 1gb means that I'm not facing anywhere like the kind of refreshing I did on the S6 Edge. Indeed it's refreshing to actually manually refresh tapatalk at times rather than it constantly being forced to reload.

Essentially yes it's just a bigger S6 Edge, and like the iPhone 6 Plus that's not necessarily a bad thing. A few extra functions in apps such as split viewing in email, messaging etc.

For me 5.5-5.7" is the perfect screen size. Yes it's still fiddly to use one handed and that's the trade off I'm willing to accept for extra screen real estate.

Aesthetically the Note 5 still feels blocky once you have the gorgeous S6 Edge / Plus in your hand.

Hopefully this doesn't have any issues like my gold S6 edge did, but I'm very happy with my purchase and it will very definitely be replacing the S6 Edge when it returns from repair. After using it most of the day I think I will keep hold of the Edge Plus and my Note 5 will now move into the 'sellable' zone - perhaps when the 6S Plus is released here.

But yeah I'm very happy with the 6 Edge Plus. Always said the S6 Edge was Aesthetically one of my favorite smartphones ever, the S6 Edge Plus is that on steroids and with the ram issue alleviated I think I've found a Samsung keeper at least till the S7 Edge Plus.

How? Jesus....that's nuts

Advert was basically overlooked and lost in a sea of standard edge sale adverts that buyer apathy missed it, but I caught it. Better still they were in the same county as me so we met half way between our houses. Very handy and just a case of fortunate timing and good luck I guess.

The update from T-Mobile that came out a few days ago seems to fix the lagging and improved my battery life. Really happy with my Galaxy S6 Edge now.

I'm just waiting for them to activate Samsung Pay. The app is included with three update but still says coming soon when I launch it!

Ok so it's Sunday and i've been using the phone like mad. It's been out for a curry with me. It's been to Charlton Vs Rotherham with me and it's kept me company when I couldn't sleep last night.

Positive thoughts:

It is still as sexy as the day i first laid my eyes on it.

Coming from a Note 3, the rate the battery charges is quite unbelievable. The battery is draining quite quickly but only because I can't stop playing with it.

The front camera is unbelievable?!!

The antenna is very strong. I pick up 4 bars of 4G where my note 3 only picked up one. Wifi is also functional in a notorously dead wifi zone of my house.

Negative thoughts:

I'm scared to scratch it. The first cut will be the deepest. But it is quite a slippy phone to hold

When using one handed, the side of my hand is touching the edge of the screen which sometimes loads up links I didn't mean to ask for.

About it though. Still scores a 9.8/10 from me

Yep .... I concur. This is my experience both with both the S6 Edge and S6 Edge +

My other negative is screen protectors are awkward to get, and it's hard work keeping them from being smudgy fingerprint magnets. Why on earth didn't samsung apply a very heavy Oleophobic coating on these devices so they resist smudges is a mystery.
