Hows the Edge Plus for lag? It's been over a year since I was on Android and left my Galaxy S4 & LG G2 in the dust and cowered back to the reliable iPhone. Really thinking about switching again!

I have the Edge and it doesn't really lag unless you have a bunch of apps running which will bring it down to a crawl. However all will be well after close the apps or if you make a habit of restarting the device once or twice a week. Other than that, it is generally smooth overall. Hope that helps!

Mine doesn't lag. It does seem to reload apps sooner than it should, see the aggressive task killing articles floating out there. Overall it is super fast. I kept transition animations on, which I normally don't do, since the phone is so fast.

My regular edge lags at times but luckily the clean master app helps with that

My edge began acting up yesterday. It would lock up doing the mundane tasks and even lock up simply on charge. Then when powered off it would randomly turn itself on !! Then few minutes later, lock up and reboot !

Then it happened ... It no longer comes on at all. It is DEAD!!

My gold edge is only 2 months old :( unfortunately Samsung don't have any official stores or repair centres here so it goes to a third party repair centre and will take up to 21 days !!!!!!!!!!!!

When my iPhone 6 Plus camera fecked up, Apple sent me a new unit and I simply sent back my old one within 2 days.

The edge cost me €50 more than the iPhone, the level of service from Samsung repair wise is terrible.

Feck it. :( not happy

edit ..... its turned back on ... then promptly locked up and turned off again. It's even locking up in 'recovery' meaning it's not a software issue.

Sorry to hear that MRU! It would suck to have to wait 21 days to get a repair/replacement.
I have always taken phones back to my carrier's corp stores for warranty work. Usually in and out quickly with a replacement. There is no way for you do do that?

Where design and realitity of the practicals of using a device are on two ends of a different spectrum.
Then yet the people that said the dual edge design would not work or ever happen.......tend to be the people that go out and buy them.

MRU said
Which is precisely why I don't believe for one second they will introduce a dual edge device. I think dual edge will remain a rumor only.

Sadly no. If you take it back to the carrier here they simply go through the motions of sending it to Samsung's third party repair agents. Essentially your just add a third wheel to the already slow process. I know it'll get repaired or replaced and it'll eventually return but yeah 3 weeks or more because it excludes weekends is painfully protracted.

It's a shame they don't have better localised support, I'm sure it would be quicker in the likes of the UK, France & Germany - just not smaller countries.

Lol, yeah that was way way back when it was all rumours still and I meant in context of Galaxy Note Edge where the edge screen is treated as an independent screen, hence when the rumours were out we thought it would be treated same way meaning 3 separate screens. Thankfully Samsung went down the route of just treating the edge as an edge and as 1 screen. I still don't think a device like the Note Edge with three separate screens would work very well...

I do like the way samsung have implemented it and it works well even if it is just aesthetics - it's still the most stunning looking handset other than the S6 Edge + ... I wish I had the DPI scale of the Note 5 however on the S6 Edge because there is a lot of needless 'over sizing' elements to the GUI on the S6/S6 Edge. Probably can adjust this with root, but its the only thing that i dislike about the S6 Edge (the amount of stuff you can see) which is all adjusted by its DPI scaler.

Seriously bemused with 3.

So i pre-ordered the 64gb model of the Edge+ with them and they told me to pick it up on the 4th. I arrived and they didn't have any, only the 32gb model.
...I was told to come back on Tuesday (today) when they have their next lot of deliveries. Again, no device. Now i've been told Samsung haven't released the 64gb model by 3.

I decided to walk into the carphone warehouse posing as a potential customer and asked them if they had any 64gb models of the edge+. They had loads. They told me they have an exclusivity agreement with Samsung over the 64gb models.

How do 3 not know this?! Why didn't they just tell me? Why do I have to root around and find out; this isn't even my job.

I just don't get why there don't have loads in stock like apple do with their models.

Apple runs out of stock too. But they just pushback the shipping time instead of saying they are out of stock.
Try ordering the new IP6s....a few hours after it is released and watch your shipping times get extended out while they make more phones.

Difference is there's a far higher demand with iPhones. There isn't with Samsung phones so there should be no excuse

yes and no........there is always a risk when mass producing products. Should Apple make the same amount of IP6s as they sold last model? So if they sold 100 million combined iphone models last year should they produce that many for the launch of the new model? If they do that what happens if there is an unforeseen problem? What if they missed something in testing or QA? Now they have a massive amount of product on their hands or in channel pipelines or customer hands. There is less risk to making a large amount then making more as demand dictates. This goes for all companies and products.

How was you even able to pre order the 64gb direct from the carriers. The inability to do such a thing online at Three and O2 immediately told me that they dont have the 64gb version.

Unlucky for all the hassle. Just cancel your order and go to CPW. Their prices are better anyway.

Do you know whether the CPW exclusivity is for a certain period of time?

It's why apple always order more than they produced before. Big factor here is apple always offer multiple choices for each GB

Samsung more often than not only stock 32GB in most markets. Which is half of the problem

Which doesn't work for me as 32GB is simply not enough storage

It was on my note 4 but those SD cards are no longer there.

I had a problem with my Note 4 and I brought it into my local Samsung service centre in Birmingham and they said it would be up to 5 days. They ran me the next morning to say I could collect my phone, when I got there they had a new phone sealed for me. Fantastic service.

Do you know whether the CPW exclusivity is for a certain period of time?

Carphone Warehouse don't offer contracts with 3, and 3 are the only network with unlimited data so I have no choice really.

I rang up Carphone Warehouse and they told me that their exclusivity runs out tonight at midnight. Needless to say; when they found out I had no interest in purchasing a unit they ended the conversation

I rang up 3 disgruntled and explained everything. They told me that the stock stores have is seperate to the stock the people on the phones have. They said to cancel the upgrade at the store and do it upgrade directly with 3 and i'll have the phone in 24 hours as they have plenty of it in stock.

I then said, well if that's true, why does your website say the phone will be delivered by the 18th? They said the website only communites with the stock accessed by the stores.

I still think the whole system is a shambles but it was quite a helpful call to be fair.

You wouldn't get this with Apple though, fragmentation of the storage sizes available. But I have to deal with it as I don't want iOS - i think the OS is a mess.

Courier collected my S6 Edge today. Faster than anticipated. Hopefully they return it repaired sooner than they suggested.

I got an update this morning. I've noticed that the apps are now rounded squares and Apps Edge- this is a very useful feature for the Edge screen.

Does your carrier have insurance?

I cracked my S6 edge display last week. And cause I got T-mobile JUMP. They sent me a replacement phone the next day. Filed a claim Tuesday around noon, and got my replacement Weds at 3:00 pm. And I was lucky to get a new one, not refurbished. Manufactured in July 2015. It was a $175 deductible though, but local repair shops charge more for OEM display replacements for the S6 edge.
