Reason I like black variant is because of the SAMOLED display as using a plain black wallpaper will make it look like the foreground is floating. But of course it will show the most fingerprint marks. White does the opposite by hiding it better.

That EMERALD GREEN looks really good and I have never been into green except the dollars in my wallet and green apple flavored candy like Sour Powers. I never owned a green colored phone before. Green and gold look pretty good to me.

Torn between black or something different in emerald green. Kudos to Samsung for making emerald green look good on a smartphone!

And here is one overlooked thing Samsung did with the S6 series. They decide to go in-house with their SoC! On one hand, this might create more fragmentation as Qualcomm has sorta become the de facto SoC maker for most flagship OEM's. On the other hand, more competition, less monopoly for prices to go down. Let's be real but top Qualcomm Snapdragons are pricey with only MediaTek as the cheaper alternative for poorer countries and not much in-between. Samsung built this from the ground up amd mainly in-house. I say most of the important components are built by Samsung.

A true music artists WRITES THEIR OWN SONGS! Plays their own instruments. Samsung is doing it mostly by themselves here as well. A Samsung product made mostly by Samsung parts. That's the one advantage Samsung has over other companies. They build it themselves which gives them more control on hardware and money savings.
Savor please calm down, seriously it's like watching someone become indoctrinated into some brain washing cult.

Your posts are becoming more and more devout and at the same time because of that; preposterous too.

Sure be excited, but come on get some perspective and objectivity man. It's a phone. It's not a cure for cancer and Samsung are not angels riding around on unicorns shooting magic sunbeams out of their backsides for the good of humanity.

We have enough fanboys I'm this forum, don't become just another one. Unable to see anything rational, writing posts that read like some juvenile teen diary entries to a fixated boy crush.

I think we should stick to the phones and their good/bad points and not get personal.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion without getting beat up about it.

Savor seems enthusiastic about the S6 and S6 Edge. But I think a lot of us are. I know I am and a lot of others here too.

Enthusiastic yes ... Evangelical is a different thing entirely ;)

I am asking for objectivity otherwise we just end up with a forum full of fanboys. I will be getting an Edge, but I'm not going to start prevaricating that's it's the best thing since slice bread without even using one and begin preaching that Samsung are now some God like corporate entity...... That's just silly.

Cmon MRU......this was a personal attack. There are plenty of other people here that do the same about their favorite device or phone. I have never seen you call someone out like that. Its not like you at all........

My post was to plea for objectivity not to insult. I've been reading the posters posts over the last few weeks and whilst they started out as enthusiastic and full of glee, they have of recent become more and more outlandish and unbojectivly reverent to the point of silly, which does a disservice to themselves and their enthusiasm. I would expect any of you to pull me up on similar if I began evangelicalsing here.

Fair enough.........just trying to offer some objectivity for you.
We all go on about our favorite phones. Some rant about a particular software continuously (like TW for instance) that they dislike. Some repeatedly so......
We all do it...... i hate how Apple gets a pass on things while others get called out for it. I am sure everyone has noticed that about me! :)

I call them all out buddy, hence I've been called a fanboy of almost every other device simply because I call so many of them out.

For example my iPhone 6+ is developing issues with the home button making very clicking noise when pressed which my older iOS devices didn't do, and my iPad doesn't. Neither has this happened on any of my Sammy devices, so yeah I'm not enamoured by this fact as it looks like I'm going to have to get a warranty service on it and we don't have apple stores here meaning I'm going to have to send it away for it to get serviced by them.... Which is a pain in the ass. Likewise don't get me started on iOS 8 overly white aesthetic and how they have made music player app horrible on it .... ;)

2013 - M7 vs S4
2014 - M8 vs S5

^^ Could go either although most critics favored the HTC One.

2015 - M9 < S6 edge

Maybe until recently as last week, I think I still favored M9 over S6 edge. But after time has passed and I had to weigh the pluses and minuses, it became clear as day to me Samsung KO'd HTC this time.

M9 -
Sd slot
Metal rear over glass rear
BoomSound
Cheaper

S6 edge -
Better design
Exynos seems superior to Snapdragon 810 (70k AnTuTu > 55k)
Wireless charging
Quick charger out of the box
Better camera (likely)
Easier to unscrew the back to remove the battery
More cooler color options

If you cover the back of the S6 with InvisiShield or any screen guard, can live without expandable storage at 32 gb min, and can afford to pay higher for a "rarer" device with limited supply because of possible shortage issues, S6 edge clearly looks like the superior choice. HTC still hasn't offered wireless charging which has been around since the Nexus 4 (2012). Samsung offered a quick charger and wireless charging already last year with the S5 and Note 3. And the Sense advantage over TouchWiz is nomore after Samsung removed the bloat. Geohot's Towelroot app is there anyway which mostly roots Samsung phones with one-click.

Remember this is a gen 1 Galaxy S edge vs gen 3 One (don't count One X). It probably will be more refined and cheaper if you wait on the edge variants of S7, S8, and S9 but it seems Samsung really got everyone beat this year with something fresh. Perhaps if the edge gets popular enough, the regular flat screen S line gets eliminated. I say S6 edge is better than G Flex 2 as well. It truly is built for Material Design and the All In One Gestures app.

The curved displays might seem gimmicky at first but it has actual software features built around it and could also be the new trend in hardware design during the next few years once others start to catch up and emulate it like what Samsung did to the phablet movement. Many others copied the bigger screen approach, didn't they? Without the Note series, we would never have the Apple iPhone 6 Plus which I believe is the best iPhone ever made! Sorry iPhone 6 owners, but a bigger screen, FHD, higher ppi, and bigger battery can make all the difference to me while texting and reading.

The color exclusive emerald green S6 edge for me, please!

Yeah I agree. All this talk of Apple copying Samsung but people forget that Samsung makes much of their phone parts in house, and supplies phone parts to Apple themselves. Kind of makes you think a bit more deeply that just herp derp "Samsung copied Apple" crap.

Color shifting might bother some esp with white background, it may or may not bother me. The good news is Erica Griffin used SwiftKey and I thought it could affect typing with the edges. It doesn't.

S6e is like M7 in terms of fresh and originality. If best means PRACTICAL to some, then S6e may not be the best. I would say the Galaxy Note 3 or most of the smartphones equipped with the Snapdragon 800 in 2013 were better than M7 based on practical terms. But M7 was best to me for being the freshest and coolest. Best FASHIONISTA and most interesting phone of 2013. BoomSound, Sense 5, Zoe, BlinkFeed, and UltraPixel was all new to me. Over the last two years, M7 hasn't aged the best except hardware design, sound quality, and display. Still better-looking than M8 and M9. S6e might be the same way. Best design and most interesting smartphone of 2015. The best phone for practical terms in the longer term? Maybe not just like the M7 is two years later. Either wait for its successor and more refinement or get it next month and experience the freshness like owning the iPhone 2G and HTC One M7 which offered a unique and fresh experience during their time of release.

Naturally, the one Samsung device I'm looking at getting has yield issues.....

Maybe my decision between the S6 Edge and the Note 5 will be made for me....

Haha it's taiwanese source...they always tried to discredit koreans. Guess why. TSMC lost the battle and Apple chose Sammy instead.

Very intrigued by this phone.

It is absolutely beautiful. I am going to wait until I can go "hands on" with one first.

First Samsung phone I've been blown away by. Always preferred HTC when it came to Android.

I am actually glad Samsung stopped relying on Qualcomm this year. Alot of haters will say Samsung copied this or that. But alot of those arguments is superficial. The real innovation comes from within. I compare SoC makers to like songwriters vs the performers who actually perform the song. They are the brains behind it all. The silicon chips tucked inside are really the heart and mind on what powers our smartphones.

Last year, I already was aware about the Snapdragon 810 and the whole 64-bit processor, a first for Android. I was looking forward to it only to feel disappointed. I feel they brought out a dud. It seems Qualcomm felt whatever SoC they will release whether 805, 808, 810, etc that OEM's will use them no matter what. Samsung went a different direction with it. Now many 2015 phones from HTC, LG, Sony, several Chinese makers may suffer from carrying an SoC that wasn't really worth waiting for while the Exynos 7420 is leapfrogging past the 'dragons already.

Qualcomm disappointed me with the 810.
HTC disappointed me with the M9.
Samsung impressed me both internally and externally w/ Exynos 7 & S6e.

Gold platinum looking better by the day...

LOl...two phones...some of us run with more than that!

The white or the gold/platinum has got my attention. It just might be a pre order for me. They should start showing up in bestbuy next week according to the rumors floating around. So i should be able to hold one and see what the colors actually look like in person.

Did the rumors say if all color variants would be out on display at best buy?

from what i have read on XDA and Reddit they say the white and black only.
I am on the fence between the white and the gold. I have never had a gold phone before but that S6 Edge in gold is stunning.

Same boat regarding the regular S6. Between white and gold. I really do want to like the gold, but the way it reflects the platinum-ness of it sometimes makes it look way too silver-y and reflective. Almost like a mirror. That, I think, is ugly.

But in person, who knows... And if I have to go with white, that won't be a problem as I do like white phones. My iPhone 6 is white. The white S6 looks gorgeous in its own right.

Same here... I am not into "bling" so to speak. So a very shiny phone is not for me. I might end up with the white but as you say in person they might look different! :)

Just saw the white GS6 and blue GS6 Edge. Absolutely stunning in person. Feels so good in the hand.. As nice as the GS6 is, the Edge, hands down is the looker. Swiping in from the side never felt so smooth. I won't be leaving the Note line, and I'm now more excited than ever about the Note 5.
