I sadly won't get to see one in person until I buy one ... Just don't see them going on display here until they've launched - even then very few mobile stores here stock actual working models and not plastic artificial ones that don't even have a screen.

You guys are killing me with these S6 hands on posts! What country are you in?

I'm up in Vancouver Canada, they have had demo devices out since Monday.

Here's a little eye candy:.

If you consider that Samsung included backups like fast and wireless and the S6e will be in the same realm with the S6 in regards to stamina, then Samsung has reached pretty much a STALEMATE with battery life. Technically, slightly worse but a couple nice backup options esp that 10 min charge for 4 hrs use and 80 min total recharge time.

10-11% is not a big dropoff like the M9 going from 11 hrs (GSM Arena) to 6 hrs in video playback in that Tweakers test. And video playback isn't supposed to be resource hungry compared to browsing when it comes to judging SOT. Video playback SOT result is closer to if you were simply texting or emailing all day. Browser eats up more along with video streaming with a 30%-50% dropoff if video playback can hit 10 hrs. So 10 hrs video playback SOT vs only 5-7 browsing SOT. Test results from GSM Arena and AnandTech generally overestimate the browsing result but get close to video playback with lesser variables and one app open to test it.

S6 Edge UK off-contract price = £760 !!

As for the Galaxy S6 edge, the starting variant is the 64GB model, which is available in white, black and gold for £760 ($1122). The Green Emerald version of the Galaxy S6 edge is also not yet available, as is the 128GB storage model.

All pre-orders made on Samsung UK will ship from April 9.

£760 is €1150 here ..... And as Ireland's Euro price is usually aligned with UK Sterling more than Central EU countries - that looks like its going to be very prohibitively expensive off-contract here.

And as I suspected .... No trace of Emerald Green Edge or 128gb variants !!!!! Seriously €1150 ? I just can't justify spending my € on any phone being that high.

As I only paid €450 for my brand new unbranded Note 4 off-contract - thats nearly 3 Note 4's to 1 S6 Edge ......

Unless subsidised pricing is substantial here - I may wait this one out till it falls in price after a few months (hopefully)

I saw the prices too. Just crazy. The 128 GB version of the S6 or 6 edge are nowhere to be seen. The note 4 seems more attractive by the day now.

Yep and no blue S6 or 64gb versions on Samsung site either. So basically off-contract and direct from Samsung your choice is ...

White / black / Gold S6 32gb £599 = €829 (No 64gb / 128gb or Blue option as yet)
White / Black / Gold S6 Edge 64gb £760 = €1150 (No 128gb or Emerald Green option as yet)

I knew they were both going to be pricy but still :( reality hurts.

Wow those are some crazy prices! That might be the biggest deterrent in getting the edge. I hope Samsung doesn't price itself out of the market.

Yeah even subsidised heavily on contract - carriers will still be charging as much as some other flagships cost off-contract or on PAYG.

Mind we did all know that it was going to be the regular S6 that would be the main phone retail & carriers pushed as the mass consumer device rather than the Edge.

Sadly regular S6 doesn't really hold much charm for me - it was the Edge or nothing. Given the off contract pricing; it looks like it could end up being as much as €500-600 for an S6 Edge on my current contract price and then be signed up for another 24 months commitment...

As much as I desire it - sometimes common sense does rule my head.

I'll likely not be getting one at launch unless as I say Vodafone surprise me and offer it lower than what I expect. But even then it'll cost more than the Note 4 & Moto X 2014 did for me unbranded and off-contract which is madness.

UK subsidised pricing is good though which is great for uk upgraders , however mobile carriers here pretty much have a monopoly as there is technically only two mobile networks as Vodafone owns half and Three who now own O2 the other, which also licences it's network to Meteor/EMOBILE and that's it. So you tend to find no competition in subsidies and on contract pricing here a lot higher than UK equivalent contracts...

I am with you on the edge. After a while and as you and I both have had so many different phones....you want something different. I like the edge because it is one of a kind and different than all the rest. But if the pricing is that high i might be forced to get the regular S6 instead.

Just looking at Samsung.de and they are offering much more options than Samsung UK.

You can get a

32gb Edge in all the colours with a free wireless charger for €849
64gb Edge in all the colours with a free wireless charger for €949
128gb Edge in all the colours with a free wireless charger for €1049

32gb S6 in all the colours with a free wireless charger for €699
64gb S6 in all the colours with a free wireless charger for €799

no 128gb available currently.....

Better than UK pricing (which Irish pricing gets lumped with despite us having the Euro)

I wonder if there is someway I can order from Germany and have it delivered to Ireland. Irish Samsung site doesn't even have pre-ordering or pricing at all.

Might have to look into that. Emphasis on might..... Still head and heart are too busy warring with each other.

EDIT!!!! Nope need to have a German Address and a German registered payment method. :(

Yep exactly. We have had sooooooo many phones that its the 'something new' that really is the appeal in the Edge. 'If' the Note 4 does finally get a decent lollipop update that includes the changes to stock apps as on the S6 it's impossible for me to justify getting anything other than the Edge as essentially it would be device repeating and not temper my appetite, I'd know I'd be settling and that would make me crave the S6 Edge more so...

Play with the S6 Edge at Wal-Mart here in Montreal and the 32GB only has 17GB free after Memory System.

So i pre-order a 64GB S6 Edge.

??? Really. That is quite shocking - was there preloaded media or something because that really is quite a significant system size (14-15gb)

Doesn't scream 'streamlined and debloated' if true. That's almost double the Note 4's 32gb system allocation which is around 24gb free for user.

That seems odd to me and shocking if true. My N4 had about 26GB free after i removed a few apps after a reset.

Yeah if true, you know theres going to ineviatably be a 'scandal gate regarding storage' ..... Might explain the free cloud storage they are offering all S6 & Edge users, but holy damn 14gb system ?

Will have to wait for more confirmation on this one .....

This last page of posts is turning me off to the Edge.....if the 14-15 GB system size is true and the pricing is indeed in the $850+ range, I'll probably pass.

I would love to get one just because its different, but I won't be using it as a daily driver....I was looking for it to come in a bit cheaper than my iPhone 6+ and it sounds like it may not.

And 14-15 GB on the 32 GB version is insane.....that's what iOS takes up on my 128 GB 6+. On my 64 GB 6, iOS takes up roughly 8 GB of space.

Maybe it's because that's a demo unit in store.

Sorry it's in french. Mémoire système, system memory is 15,26GB.

Price here for S6 Edge is 809,95$/919,95$/1019,95$ for 32/64/128 GB. Prices are in CND$

Yep i'm shocked too. Can't understand why Android is more than 8GB. On my 6+ i have 11,78GB free on 16GB.

I read on another forum that the S6 Edge comes with 24GB free space out of the box. So maybe it's because it's a demo unit.
