I wonder if the Qualcomm modem in the S6/S6e Verizon models is more power efficient than the Samsung modem in the European version ... Might explain such widely different battery results.

I usually avoid OTA but instead use Samsung Smart Switch to do a full firmware flash and have never had issues.

Is it a worthy upgrade over the s5? I don't have an s5 but I used to...
Depends, do you value water resistance, removable battery, and micro SD support? Or are you more towards the great design and feel crowd? Outside of those features, the S6 is quite a bit faster, the display is better, and of course the software feels a lot better too.

Would probably prefer speed, display etc. Don't really need removable battery or micro SD.

Here's a little update on my phone.I shut off most of Google's background services and I managed to get 3 hours on screen time and still at 70%

Edit 3 hours at 50% it was 2 hours at 70% and this is with no power saving

Just a few Google services shut down
What do you turn off and where?

In that case, then yes, it is a very worthy upgrade, it's the fastest phone I've used thus far, and themes really helps out in covering Samsung so-so software design.its also got the best display and best camera out now. The only real fault may be the battery life. It was fine for me, but everyone's use case is different.

I'd be using it as my second phone (Have an iPhone 6+ and apple watch). They are really pricy over here to buy out right :( Hoping for a price drop soon.

Ok a week of using my new S6 edge and a good 5 days of it being my daily driver I'm actually please to say things have improved quite a lot over my previous S6 Edge.

My previous edge I would get around 4 apps in the background open before they would refresh and it would dump me out of the app completely making it more irritating. I would also only get 3hrs SOT on average.

It was an unbranded European model running the UK Samsung BTU firmware.

My gold S6e which replaces the Saphire black one is also a unbranded European model running BTU firmware.

I now get 6 apps and occasionally 7 (depending on which ones) before I see refreshing when bringing them out of background. That's a a good 50% improvement. Whilst it's certainly not the dozen apps you get on a stock android device it's a noticeable improvement over my previous S6Edge.

Better still battery life too has improved I get closer to 4 hours SOT today which is again a big improvement.

My usage hasn't changed, software and android firmware is the same. This does lead me to believe that perhaps there is a genuine hardware issue with the new ram Samsung is using affecting some devices more so than others.

What previously was a near intolerable daily nightmare of usage has become merely irksome but tolerable and less affecting.

Other than colour difference the only hardware difference I have detected is that my new device uses Samsung's ISOCELL camera sensor whereas my previous used Sony's.

I'm still highly tempted to upgrade/side grade to the S6e + due to the extra ram, but thought it best to share my experience of this new replacement device as it clearly is performing better than previous model I owned.

Dropped mine today in a plate of BBQ chicken. Good thing I had my Ringke case on, which got all of the sauce on it.

what grippy case to use and still keep wireless charging? I plan on trading in my l6 and so far I have not found a way to tell what case will and will not.

All cases should allow wireless charging to retain. I use both a spigen case and an official Samsung flip case on my S6e and no issue wireless charging.

I can't recommend this wireless charging stand more than enough. Reliable and easy to use. Either landscape or portrait mode both connect really quickly to begin charging. It doesn't have to be in the "right spot" or anything like that. Just plunk it down and it goes.

What's also great is that it puts the device perfectly angled so you can still see incoming notifications and even use the phone if you have to, and it actually charges very fast. It's just great. I have two; one at the office and one on my nightstand. And if you can catch a good deal, these can be bought fairly inexpensively.

My only issue is the phone beeps abd screen wakes up when it thinks its fully charged and continues to do so if you leave it on the charger. At least my two S6e's do that, I ended up just powering them off when I go to bed and put them on the wireless charger. Doesn't do that (beep and wake device up) with my Nexus 6.

Really? Strange. I definitely don't get that. It just lights up once when is fully charged and that's it.

Maybe it's the brand of wireless charger that got have. I've read that some changers when fully charged will stop charging the device (naturally) so when the phone remains on the charger it'll slowly drop battery life, and once it does, the wireless charger the device isn't fully charged and will start charging again. Bringing you from 99% to 100% again. Maybe that's what's causing your device to wake/beep?

My charger doesn't do that, thankfully.

That's probably what is happening.

Does anyone use Samsung pay? How well does it work when its only the magnetic strip? That;s one advantage I feel that Samsung has over apple, you can use it anywhere basically, NFC or not.

Samsung Pay isn't out yet around here.
