Again, the higher PPI count is for virtual reality. Samsung didn't hold anything back. This device has to last until next years s7 and who knows where virtual reality is going this year. Samsung is future proofing.

As long as the battery can keep up... That's the big question.

It may be 20% more power efficient than a year old 1080p AMOLED display, but how does it compare to the latest 1080p IPS LCDs?

Genuinely curious. I see no reason for Apple to deviate from the current display in the 6+ as it is gorgeous and more than sufficient. Unless a meaningful gain in battery life/efficiency is seen by moving to AMOLED.

I'm sure they'll make the switch at some point. But given how tightly they control the efficiency of each part of the device, there must be some delta between their current IPS LCDs and the AMOLEDs in Samsung devices that causes pause.

Why not compare to 2.5k lcd screens? Taken from the review.

The Galaxy S6 is in fact 23 percent more power efficient than the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus for mixed image content.

Because I personally am more curious about what Apple will do considering they are the ones who still push LCD tech.

Thanks for the info. I think Apple will move to AMOLED some time soon.

At the rate Samsung is pushing AMOLED technology next years panels should put an end to lcd screens.

let's say they get 10% brighter and 10% more efficient why would anyone not want to use them?

Endless Samsung is not wanting to sell its good screens and leave them for there phones to have a one up on the competition

Yup - I would agree. Apple clearly has no beef buying displays from Samsung. They'll use the most cost-effective, efficient solution out there.

My guess is, given the volume of displays Apple could/would order, Samsung would rather simply add that revenue to their own books versus keep them to themselves.

I don't know how much their displays would cost....but if they get into all of Apple's mobile products, you're talking upwards of 100 million+ displays a year.....that's a lot of money if priced comparably with the IPS LCD Apple currently uses ($51 for the 6+ display).

Never bought a Samsung before, I wonder where I can buy it unlocked?

I'll be buying unlocked as well most likely. Either through Tmobile (depending on their color and storage options...) or through the Samsung website.

Does Samsung have stores in NYC? EDIT: YEs there is!

They do have a store! Okay I'll just pick one up from there then. I have T-mobile, but I'm prepaid.

Who knows, I may be standing next to you in the store checking it out!

Really have to see that Gold version in person first. Otherwise, it's going to be the white one for me.

We have 3 iPhone users in our family plan and all of them said they are getting the new Samsung lol.

Can't wait to see them in person! I guess the screen is the best screen ever created!

Galaxy S6 fingerprint sensor can be used to log into websites

Galaxy S6 fingerprint sensor can be used to log into websites/
This is going to be awesome!

The fingerprint sensor in the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge has a neat little feature. Some of the uses that were advertised include securing access to the device as well as authorizing PayPal and Samsung Pay payments. It also has another feature which will allow users to log into websites by simply using the fingerprint that they have already set up. This means that users will no longer have to enter username and passwords on websites that they regularly visit. Simply tap to login and then use the fingerprint sensor.

The Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge will automatically ask users if they want to use this feature when they log into a website for the first time using their credentials. If they accept from that moment onwards whenever they have to log into that website they simply use the fingerprint sensor. Those who don’t want this feature can continue to use their credentials. This isn’t groundbreaking stuff, iPhone users can already do this courtesy of iCloud Keychain, but it certainly adds more value to the fingerprint sensor on Samsung’s latest flagships.
