I got to handle one yesterday and have no issues with the ergonomics. I know what others have said but it was fine for me.

Shame. The price just kills it.

Some concerns over the Edge's ergonomics from some folks who have gotten to handle it . Very preliminary but I will see how I feel about it next week when I check it out.

Doesn't matter cause I am interested but not for the price.

I was all set to get the edge but the pricing has stopped me dead. I only ever buys phones sim free, but the pricing for the Edge is just a little too rich for me. Should have been about £100 less to be in the ballpark.

I think Samsung got it wrong. They have struggled over the last year, and while the S6 is a great comeback, it needs to be pitched at the right price point.

Just wait a few months and the price will go down, or buy second hand.

Anyone else in the UK find the increasing prices of these flagship phones ridiculous? Samsung have priced the Galaxy S6 at £600, that's more than the iPhone 6 for ****'s sake. They just add a hundred quid on every year. No wonder the Moto G and Huawei phones are getting so popular when the big brands are ripping us off so much.

Honestly I'd have thought that with declining sales Samsung would have been smart and lowered their prices a bit.

Order it from Amazon.de. Buying from there works out considerably cheaper.

Perhaps removing the swappable battery, sd slot, and water-resist is a BRILLIANT idea from Samsung...

It may just help current sales of the S5! Look at the Top 5 most hits on GSM Arena. S5 is still a Top 5 most viewed phone nearly a year later.

We don't truly appreciate anything until its gone. Well, the S5 is starting to get appreciated more since those features are still there even if it wasn't a pretty boy phone. By those features being GONE with the S6, the S5 is finally receiving its long overdue credit...

Design/build quality aside, Galaxy S5 was one of the most perfect phones ever released from Samsung. Except it didn't sell well and was maligned for build quality. Perhaps Samsung's mistakes with S6 will help rejuvenate sales of the predecessor.

This looks very promising!

S6 and S6 Edge Allow You To Get Rid of Bloat

Rejoice, power-users! Another nail in the coffin of the once-sluggish state of TouchWiz has been firmly hammered. We had reported back in January on how Samsung was planning to trim TouchWiz by cutting bloat among other optimizations. Samsung followed suite, and in the Mobile World Congress 2015 conference the Korean giant made a lot of promises regarding revamped performance in the S6 and the S6 Edge. When it comes to hardware, the device was clearly up to par, and the fears of sluggish software seem to have been diminished due to numerous hands-on displaying the prowess of the device.

But the core of today’s developments is the fact that, according to XDA Senior Member Jeshter2000, the new Galaxy S6 Edge (and deductively, the S6 as well) allows you to get rid of virtually all bloatware applications be it through disabling them like in previous iterations, or uninstalling them. This is a big deal, as the bloat-removal policy caused big strides in the South Korean smartphone market – Samsung’s own turf – where it was legally compulsory to allow the deletion of bloat apps in smartphones. While this was back in 2014 and the S5 and Note 4 in the rest of the world didn’t see the treatment, we now can rest easy knowing that our possible future Galaxies will be safe from filler bloat.

Just tested S6 and S6 edge.
Wow! What a phone! Finally a Samsung with a great design and premium construction. Best phone design. Ever. I actually like it more than the iphone 4/4s and it feels better.

Everything about the hardware is top notch. Samsung at its best, i guess.
Best screen i've ever seen. If you thought the Note 4 screen was great, wait till you see the S6.
Fastest SOC (octacore), fastest RAM, fastest nand, slightly better camera than note 4 and iphone 6 and finally touchwiz is not laggy. I was really surprised by that. It's faster than HTC sense which is faster than iOS anyway. The fingerprint sensor works great, too.

Samsung has a winner this year. I feel sorry for HTC , lg, motorola, etc.
I have a Note 4, but i already preordered the edge in green. A little bit pricey (~1100 euros for 128GB version), but since it has the best hardware on the market i won't complain. :)

Time to sell the Note 4? I am thinking about doing the same minus the Edge part, but my value of my phone tanked about $100 in the last 2-3 weeks.

Can't wait until next week. Finally getting the demo GS6 and GS6 Edge in my store. Already played with the GS6 last week. Awesome phone. You guys are going to love it. I'm going for the Edge tho. The perks of working in the mobile dept at BB. Get to play with all the new phones #

Galaxy S6

In fairness you could do the same on Note 4, S5, Alpha.

That article reads like something new and yet basically the main essential part is 'it allows users to uninstall or disable most of the bloat', but in reality that's not new at all and we've been able to uninstall or disable apps we don't want for ages in Touchwiz.

The problem is how they define bloat .....

Likewise apps like these are not the culprits when it comes to Bloat. Bloat on Samsung devices is under the hood. Open up application manager, go to running or All and you will see literally dozens and dozens of application services that have no direct APP link, but are running away and using up memory & storage.

Importantly and needs to be differentiated ...

It's these hidden bloat that rom makers target when debloating Roms, and these are not generally able to disable them without rooting and voiding warranty.

So yeah, being able to disable or remove Skype is not really the issue. We need to see if all the other detritus like ANT Radio, Samsung Push and all the other myriad useless services are still chugging away hidden under the bonet, because that article actually doesn't tell you anything you can not do already.

I don't know what to say, it's up to you, really. If you're ok with a smaller screen and you won't miss the stylus, i'd say go for it! :)

You know what's a simple feature that I love on the S6/Edge? The camera shortcut. Double tapping the home screen anywhere/anytime, even during screen off, launches the camera in under a second. Every review/preview has said this works very fast and reliably.

It's simple things like this that should be applauded. It's a very Apple-like feature. Simple and effective. Useful.

Such a tiny thing but every time I see it happen in a review/video preview, I get giddy. :)

Is this one of those things that is going to be more irritating than it is worth is actual everyday usage? What if people have a habit of randomly tapping their phone or accidentally trigger the camera function when they don't intend to?

I don't mind a smaller screen, but I am looking for a device with better signal strength, battery life, and timely software updates.

1100€ for the phone? lol

I'd prefer 60 inch Panasonic plasma. :)

I don't foresee this being a great issue. Double tapping a physical home button is a very intentional move. The iPhone has a double tap feature too. Don't see many people worrying about accidentally launching the app switcher.

If people have that habit then they'd be launching s voice or whatever else was there before for double tapping. I assume they can turn off the feature too if they want to.

Personally, I'm excited for the double tap camera feature. Don't even have to turn the screen on or exit an app.

There are a lot of phones that have double tap to wake or launch apps. Like the OnePlus and hardly ever hear of anyone complaining about accidental double taps. But I guess it could happen. When I had the OPO i loved the double tap feature!

We will see in a few weeks about removing or disabling.
All reviews so far speak to a refined and faster TW. Personally i do not care how much ram is used. As long as my phone is fast responsive and doesn't constantly reload apps. My Note 4 fits this description and by all accounts the S6 even takes it a step further in the right direction. IMHO if the phone has 2GB of ram and it uses 1.6 and is fast responsive and does not reload apps....then it seems the phone is working as intended. It is using its resources wisely to enhance the user experience. Just my 2 cents.....

I agree with you.

However I think in the build up to release day - people are getting overly excited by articles like the one you posted which if you objectively read them - they actually tell you nothing.

To me they read like a guide on "how to make a non-article to drive traffic to their site" rather than an actual genuine news item.

However people begin reading into articles like this which say nothing far more than what is being said.

As soon as I get my Edge I will be diving under the bonnet to see if Samsung are genuine about debloating or if it's all "fur-coat and no knickers"....

I have no doubt that Verizon will add all of their carrier specific bloat.
I should be able to disable them as i have done on my N4.
But i guess my point is even with all the carrier bloat that my N4 came with. I was able to disable it and the end result is a very fast responsive phone that is a joy to use. It is every bit as fast and responsive as my 6+. So given that experience........i should be able to disable or hopefully remove (doubt remove all of it) the carrier bloat. This should make an reportedly faster refined TW even faster. Fingers crossed! :)

Tbh the fact that there is 3gb there doesn't make me worry about performance in that regard, I'm just more than interested just to see if it's really debloated.

Oh an more concerned about how I can justify nearly 1000 euro!!!
