But the S6 is running Lollipop and I know how my Nexus 6 works when it comes to app refreshes. The LG G3 refreshes apps as well, I tried one yesterday with Lollipop and same thing.

Yep, I want to see how this whole bloat scenario plays out as well.

Just tested S6 and S6 edge.
Wow! What a phone! Finally a Samsung with a great design and premium construction. Best phone design. Ever. I actually like it more than the iphone 4/4s and it feels better.

Everything about the hardware is top notch. Samsung at its best, i guess.
Best screen i've ever seen. If you thought the Note 4 screen was great, wait till you see the S6.
Fastest SOC (octacore), fastest RAM, fastest nand, slightly better camera than note 4 and iphone 6 and finally touchwiz is not laggy. I was really surprised by that. It's faster than HTC sense which is faster than iOS anyway. The fingerprint sensor works great, too.

Samsung has a winner this year. I feel sorry for HTC , lg, motorola, etc.
I have a Note 4, but i already preordered the edge in green. A little bit pricey (~1100 euros for 128GB version), but since it has the best hardware on the market i won't complain. :)

Wow, I may have to go out and test it! 128 GB in the long-run is definitely worth the price! Could have a removeable battery and a Micro SD card but, guess thats ok.

Am still looking for a replacement for my dying legendary 4S and, am stuck between a LG G3, the LG G4, Galaxy S5 and, a Galaxy S6.;)

I am new to this forum so, what are the main differences between Kit-Kat and Lollipop?

Finally, I am curious if the battery inside the Galaxy S6 can still be removed (even though it will definitely be harder due to not having a removable panel on the back.)

Thanks guys for everything and, keep up the great work :)

Had a go with the edge today and by far the nicest looking phone on the market. It feels as good as it looks and the screen is see it to believe it.

The gold in the photos doesn't do it justice, more of a silver color in the light, couldn't take my eyes off it. It really is THE phone.

I don't really get the s6 though can't see people leaving apple to get it, the edge on the other hand will get everyone excited (barring the die hard apple fans).

The curves are more design than anything and once you have used it, its difficult to go back to a normal screen.

Where is everyone finding the S6 on display? No Best Buy or T-Mobiles have them in my area as of yet.

For a peek at them? The Samsung store in NYC or some people were fortunate enough to be at a carrier store or Best Buy when the Samsung's reps bosses were showing them off.

Typically how long does it take for Samsung to begin selling unlocked versions of their phones? Asking about the s6 of course.

The reps at the samsung store said they're only selling carrier ones, and not even all of them initially.

I wish Samsung would release phones fast as Apple. The wait for demoing products is so long. It means $ to me in a sale. If I sell now in anticipation of the S6 or M9 and both are not for me, I will be stuck with going for the iPhone 6+.

IMO the bloatware in Samsung phones (or LG phones, etc) is NOT the reason for the lag or worse memory management.

It's the optimization. IOS also has "bloatware" (apps like magazine, ibooks, stocks, watch apps, etc) but hasn't got that much lag or whatever.

It's all in the optimisation.

People can disable all the bloatware they want. It won't truly matter. Same happens with custom roms without the bloat. They aren't faster or better at memory management.

Perhaps removing the swappable battery, sd slot, and water-resist is a BRILLIANT idea from Samsung...

It may just help current sales of the S5! Look at the Top 5 most hits on GSM Arena. S5 is still a Top 5 most viewed phone nearly a year later.

We don't truly appreciate anything until its gone. Well, the S5 is starting to get appreciated more since those features are still there even if it wasn't a pretty boy phone. By those features being GONE with the S6, the S5 is finally receiving its long overdue credit...

Design/build quality aside, Galaxy S5 was one of the most perfect phones ever released from Samsung. Except it didn't sell well and was maligned for build quality. Perhaps Samsung's mistakes with S6 will help rejuvenate sales of the predecessor.

S5 processor is one year old, its just stupid to buy it now.

Really? Dammit!! I thought that would be the one place to get it unlocked. Maybe GSMNation.com will have all variants available once the phone comes out.

Yeah or I might try T-Mobile. They pretty much sell theirs unlocked. Sort of, right?? Anyone know?

Or I can wait until unlocked versions appear. My oneplus after it gets lollipop should still be great.

Does Samsung actually sell unlocked, carrier free phones in the US? Save for the GPE S4, I don't recall being able to get completely unlocked phones as you could with HTC's unlocked or developer versions, or Moto'x unlocked versions of the X.

Usually the Verizon Samsung's and iPhones are the ones that are unlocked. If you're a T-Mobile customer, you can request an unlock after the device has been on the account for at least 40 days. They're pretty lenient on this though. I requested an unlock for the 5s-6 within weeks of ownership and have had no issues.

So take a look at this. You can uninstall a tonne of third party apps on thy S6/S6 Edge.

I did that with the iPhone 6, but I really don't want to do that again. As a pre-paid customer, I feel like we should be able to buy the phone outright from our respective carriers. They're still getting their money so I don't know why they don't allow this.

Time to sell the Note 4? I am thinking about doing the same minus the Edge part, but my value of my phone tanked about $100 in the last 2-3 weeks.

That's because Samsung has very poor control of retailer channels and they keep flooding the market with more models and dumping the price of fairly recent ones.

So everytime there is a new model, Samsung is in effect undercutting itself before the product comes out and making it harder to achieve desired price point. To compensate, they keep jacking up price point and this in turn is limiting their market impact with this flagship models. It wont get better until they learn how to hold the line and thus maintain the market value of the used models already out there.

I would say that this is one of Samsung's problems actually: they have not figured out how to sell premium phones in third party channels in a way that supports their own long term profitability.

As I said to Jamezr - these articles are bogus news, you can uninstall/disable those on Alpha / S5 / Note 4 ... This is not a new feature at all... However the way blogs are presenting it - is utterly misleading and seemingly people are believing it - because they want to.

The article says they can be deleted and reinstalled from the play store.

On my lollipop gs5 none of those apps above can be deleted.my options are force stop and Uninstall updates but the apps stay on the phone.

I would love to permanently delete them and save space and hope that's what we can do on the gs6

The article is misleading flawed and utterly decieptful. - its actually just regurgitating the same source other articles are using - who actually and importantly stated 'disabled or uninstalled'....

People are reading WAY too much into these articles because they want to.

Look at the articles source. One XDA post that admits disabled or uninstalled.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59577308&postcount=58

Also the same source as that on XDA has revealed that of the 3gb ... only 1gb is free - the rest is used up by the system. Does that sound de-bloated when my Moto X uses 250-300mb system ?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59625605&postcount=113

and again if your believing everything from this source.. Well expect only around 4hours screen on time
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59550081&postcount=13

And finally with 64gb you have 54gb left to user, so 10gb for system (less than the 15gb but still high).

People need to stop believing everything they read simply because they want it to be true .....
