Actually I had read that they haven't optimised the keyboard for the edge and so letters on the edges like Q, P are indeed more fiddly to activate/register presses. This could be an Achilles heel in every day usage/activity wise.

Woah, that would be a huge knock against the Edge!

I hope that isn't true! Do you have a link?

Galaxy S6

Just from the hands on of folks at XDA and the guy that posted all the other info that the bloggers leaped on.

Essentially it's the exact same keyboard as standard S6 so the edges of it fall onto the edge (cornered sides) .

I would reserve judgement until we get it in our hands first.

If the extent of one's experience with the S6 is a Best Buy Demo, then hold off on final judgement because they are running Demo software which impacts performance. Plus all the Edge features aren't even available on the Demo models from what I saw.

Not only that, demo phones doesn't include all the carrier and third party bloatware that the final regional phone will include (except the Microsoft stuff and apps like calculator but i don't find those that annoying).

I downloaded the Samsung galaxy s6 experience app from the play store, Nice app, hardware looks nice too.

Ouch, that might be bad. What about all the 3rd party keyboards out there? I wonder what other apps might not work optimally because of those edges.

I played with the Edge again today in London - the "issue" with the keyboard is very minor but yet I never missed a key when typing. I've no doubt there will up an update for the Samsung keyboard that will adjust it or a 3rd party one but for me it's not a problem.

Didn't have any problems with any apps and the edges. Yes there is a bending of the page around the edge but that's what you expect - it's a curved edge, but nothing that makes it a problem. Works great.

Mind you I might be biased. :)

Getting mine in today (T-Mobile)

waiting for UPS guy

Nice! I caved and pre-ordered yesterday. Their website was giving me attitude so I had to finish my order over the phone. Customer Service agent told me it should ship in 24 hours. I hope it's true because my pre-paid plan expires on Wednesday.

S6 vs M9

Some interesting comments. From playing with the S6 edge yesterday, I agree the TouchWiz on S6 might actually be as fast as the M8 Sense 6. I haven't tried Sense on M9 to see any stutter but AnandTech did mention it.

I am glad Samsung decided to make a change for itself. I like S6 but in a different way compared to S5. Samsung needed to rectify all the complaining of design, build quality, and the laggy TouchWiz which they did.

GETTING RID OF LAG

Using my own template, most of the lag would be eliminated using Nova Launcher Prime set to FAST animation and 0.5x animations in Developer's Option. And if you root it, Greenify (auto-hibernation when screen goes off) and Disable Services work amazing together. The latter was an app I knew about two years ago but forgot about since my phones weren't rooted back then. Disable Services is an awesome app. I can turn off all the pesky Google Services that keep turning on when I see my RAM usage. I get 800-900 mb of RAM avail out of 1.8 GB compared to the 600-700 mb from before. Alot of issues regarding lag can be rectified using the right settings and apps.

I really like the S6 and S6 edge. I know when I return to Manila in about 11 days, I expect crowds of people in the Samsung store. The timing couldn't be anymore perfect with the Avengers sequel coming up in late April for us and the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight that same week. S6 could be the biggest hero phone for Samsung since the S3 and most popular seller since the S4. It looks like a Nexus 4 but with a better SoC than the Snapdragon. Had they stuck with Qualcomm again, their performance would got easily surpassed within a few months and be stuck within a Qualcomm dependent crowd. They needed to standout in two ways internally/externally and they did.

The outermost keys on the S6 and Edge do not even reach the sides of the screen, at least not the stock keyboard.
.
It was one of the things I checked at BB this past Friday.

S6 probably has the best audio capture in any mobile now. You guys should check this clip, it's a tough environment for a mobile device to capture properly.

Just got mine, forgot that Samesung is still using the curved glass so the tempered protector won't fit properly.

Correct.

None of the screen elements reach the sides. There's a couple of mm gap between the border of an element and the edge of the screen.

I haven't disregarded buying the Galaxy S6 yet, i'm waiting for the battery life test, if it crushes the iphone 6 i'd consider getting it despite of the bloatware, maaaaaaaaaaybe.

When your brand new phone comes with the latest OS version one is happy, but as soon as a relevant update is released by Google and the carrier takes months and months to update it is not nice to own a Samsung anymore...

YouTube: video

While I admit this is very good. I still feel the iPhone 6 is better. The s6 sounds like it has a hard time figuring out what to noise cancel. This causes the background voices volume to go up and down. Maybe its just me though?

I'll try to see if I can find a clip to compare to.

Yeah. I'm a bit worried about software updates. I know Samsung has gotten better at updating, but it's definitely something to consider.

Still waiting for the Lollipop update to my OnePlus. Many broken promises by OnePlus.

As for the battery life, I think initial tests/reviews have said it's on par or even slightly better than the iPhone 6.

Either way, you get Quick Charging (10 mins = 4 hours!), and wireless charging to make up for it. And for about the same battery life, you're gaining a lot of features/specs (bigger screen, for example).

I think this is acceptable.

Charging is indeed fast, not sure how the battery will hold up because of it but so far so good.

24.70 GB in available storage for the 32GB model after the update.

Can anyone confirm if full screen mode is still available in the stock browser? It was nixed from the Best Buy demo., which would suck if it was not an option any longer.

I don't see it. It would normally be under the settings section but I'm guessing it's gone.
