The Verizon gs6 will be locked down. People will try to crack it but you never know if / when it'll happen. Even if it does, there's no guarantee the device will see a daily driver worthy stock android ROM. If those are your main concerns it'd be best to wait and see if it happens. Root is more likely than flashing a stock rom.

T-Mobile has the best shot since they are usually boot loader unlockable or the international model if that ends up being compatible with the US, but that won't help you with verizon

Side by side with the Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6

Nice little side by side video comparison.

Woah, finger print sensor almost looks a hair faster on the s6 than the iPhone.

And I love how everyone is blasting Samsung for putting their mic phone port and speakers on the bottom ala the iPhone 6, and yet forget that apple moved their power button to the side where Samsung's had it for years.

Yeah the fingerprint scanner is pretty fast!
Anyone who says the S6 is a copy of the IP6 is crazy. The have similarities as all phones do. The guy in the video even states this fact.

I'm beginning to worry about the battery life though. That was always my main area of concern (that and touch wiz I guess).

Early impressions from real people across different forums say the battery is very average (about on par with the iPhone 6). Some are struggling to get through a full day. Yes I was and am still very vocal that quick charge and wireless charging and the beautiful design makes up for the smaller battery, but it's still a bit worrisome regardless.

That quad HD screen is now a questionable decision to me...

Hopefully it's just because people are playing with their new toy, and after a few charge cycles and when people return to daily routine with their phones, they'll start seeing better battery life.

I share that concern as well. I hope it can last all day for my normal use.
Some of the early TMO people have gotten their phones say battery life is average. Nothing to write home about.

Going to preorder mine today! Verizon starts today for preorders!
I ordered from VZW this morning. Got the white 64GB Edge. I wanted the gold/platinum but the estimate ship dates was starting at 5/01. So went with the white instead. Also pre order from BB last week but they say it might not be in the store until 4/12 so canceled.

I want a gold gs6 so hopefully they have those at launch

Yeah. I don't think I can accept significantly worse battery life compared to my oneplus. I never worry about battery with my oneplus. It's a real luxury. I don't want to go back to worrying about it.

Damn... Really want this phone too. I'll await more feedback...

It is your destiny!

I guess so, I have 3 upgrades coming that I am saving up for the fall (2 iPhone 6S for me and wife, and Note 5), but this extra one just popped up. You can't fight destiny i guess, that phone will be mine :D

Hehe, I'll bet there are a lot of "glitches" in people's accounts with a new flagship being released. ATT knows what it's doing.

If it was 6 months, I would agree. But My original upgrade date was 2/2016, and the contract still showed as running through to 3/2016, there was no reason for it to show as upgrade eligible this early.

What device with a quad HD display has good battery life? If it is on par with the Ip6 I would say that is pretty good.

The screen is questionable to me because of display size as far as being beneficial versus 1080p.

To be blunt I can not see difference in QHD on either the Note 4 or Nexus 6 over the screen on the 6+

I would have been perfectly happy with 1080p on the S6 & Edge on a 5.1" screen

Indeed perhaps it would have offered even better performance and battery life, but who knows.

if history can be trusted, there would be gains

I agree with you guys, but 'Really optimized 1080p amoled' is less exciting on the spec sheet :p

Yeah, here's where the risks are when chasing specs.

I can understand Samsung wanting to be prepared for VR technology, I suppose. That's what the Quad HD is really for.

I wonder if they could've gotten away with producing two variants of the S6... one with 1080p and the other with Quad HD. Would've been a nice option.

Is it possible to make the device run in 1080p mode, actually? I'm not familiar with how this stuff works...
Or is it so that if the screen is a Quad HD screen, it has to stay that way?

I'm thrilled with what I've seen so far on the S6 screen (1440p compared to 1080p). It looks like a huge difference to me. With the S6, it is finally high enough of a resolution that you can't tell it's Pentile. That wasn't the case with the S4 or S5. Small fonts on the S5 didn't look as good as small fonts on an LCD of the same resolution. The iPhone 6 appears higher resolution when comparing small fonts to the S5.

I dont think so, never heard of a phone being able to change screen res, just DPI

Just got a sick deal at my bestbuy.I preordered for Verizon and the kid moved an upgrade to a capped 2gb line so I can keep my unlimited data and said he will switch it when the phone comes but but I also got the free wireless charger and when I put a 50 dollar deposit they gave me a 50 dollar gift card!

So I will end up paying 149.99 for the phone and keep unlimited and get the free charger!

I went with the 32gb black gs6

No tax either since this was done at the mall in Salem nh!

Oh god, the black/blue S6 looks gorgeous, the way it catches the light and reflects blue...

Not personally a big fan of the iridescent type color change in different light, really prefer if the black front gave the impression of a uniform black monolithic slab. The back of the current iPhone isn't very attractive but i love this effect on the front.

On the other hand, that dark gray/black/whatever name HTC is referring to that color is beautiful. Again though, the speakers ruin the front design--if only HTC has adopted the design seen in the earlier rumored renders, using an all glass front with speaker slits at the top and bottom, that would have been one exceptionally beautiful phone. Would likely have meant a smaller chin as well.

Imagine what a different landscape and conversation it would be right now if the M9 had really lived up to those renders... Twas but a dream...

In reality though, if the M9 did look that good but still resulted in the same disappointing camera impressions/reviews that its gotten so far, I probably would still have went with the S6 anyway.
