When does the iPhone get the next software update? Isn't it a year out from the release of the device, too? I'm not following why it's unreasonable for Samsung to update their S6 a year out from the S6's release, but acceptable for Apple to update their iPhone a year out after its release.

Or am I misunderstanding?
I don't use an iPhone and this has nothing to do with the iPhone. This is a totally different situation, when the iPhone update comes out iphones get it, not up to a year later

It is insane to me someone would try to make excuses/rationalize the update situation. A but the other guy does it defense isn't very good imo

I think you're greatly misunderstanding my post.

Let's say an iPhone gets released in Oct 2015 with iOS 9. When does it get iOS 10? Around Oct 2016.

S6 released March 2015 with Android L. When does it get Android M? Around March 2016.

No?

A year later but I don't care, that is not the situation with Android. As far as the iPhone, a year between updates is crappy but at least it isn't a crap shoot if users will even get it

And then a year later that iPhone will get iOS 11 and your S6? And we are talking about android flagships here, what about other 99% of android phones that basically get stuck with the version you bought it.

No one can argue this point. When Apple releases major version it is available on all supported devices worldwide in hours.

My international S6 still doesn't show any updates. No Marshmallow. I check 20 times today. it's becoming some sort of sick OCD waiting for it.

Moreover:

Carrier branding and completely unnecessary carrier and 3rd party applications preloaded is the best sign that samsung has no leverage and respect.

Yeah, I don't foresee Android N getting anywhere near the S6. And even so, by then, we'd be up to the S8.

I don't think anyone is excusing Samsung for not providing timely updates. But I think the comparison was they all do yearly updates. Maybe not all in sync but still yearly.

By that logic too, say that your S7 Edge came with L (it just missed the manufacturing cutoff). You would be OK with M in a year? The starting point of the phone is irrelevant. It is the time it takes after the OS is released by Google that is the issue.

I thought android users didn't care about updates? At least that's what I'm reading here. Lol

I had to go to the dentist today in Manhattan(I hate Manhattan). Took some random photos on Auto Mode(HDR auto). It was cloudy and the skyscrapers made things even darker. The S7 edge did a great point n shoot job. I'm also the worst photographer.

Great pictures.

If it wasn't so cloudy and dark, if I actually stood still and took time to take a shot. They would have been much better. I posted these cause I never got that good of a shot by just doing a quick point n shoot from a smartphone camera. I was moving in every photo, walking and driving.

6S makes pictures just as good if not better, especially if there is plenty of light. The difference is not very big.

The 6S would have captured these shots very dark and not focus fast enough. It's hard to realize how dark it actually was, it seemed like it was about to thunderstorm with pouring rain. But the iPhone 7 with duel cameras will most likely produce just as good of low light photos and fast focus. It better, or I will make fun of iPhone users. :p

I used Windows in a VM.

I just installed the ADB under Windows

Enabled USB debug in developer options

Then copy and pasted the code from the link I posted. (under Windows command prompt)

The phone rebooted right away and the change took affect.

I am having difficulty using parallels. Installed the ADB stuff. Put phone into USB debugging. But when I copy and paste the ADB command I get an ADB vendor error.

I will repeat myself. The difference is not that big. Knowing it's newer optics.

What windows version are you using? I used Windows 10.
