I love this. Aids one handed use.

Chrooma keyboard. Basically stock keyboard plus.

Happens to me as well. I figured I'm just putting my thumb on the fp reader wrong. But perhaps not.

The inconveniences we have to go through for added security is terribly unfortunate. Same thing on the iPhone. Hated it there. Now Samsung phones are doing something similar.

Maybe my biggest gripe.

If I picked finger print as the method to unlock my device, then that means i want my finger print to unlock the device every single time. That's why I picked it!

At least they let you pick which is the secondary method, and pattern is pretty quick and simple. But still, another obnoxious inconsistent experience in the name of security. Just like on the iPhone. And I'll complain about it here just as much.

People can't have it both ways with more features that require additional security and the ability to root their phones etc. You have to pick one or the other and then not complain about your choice whatever way it goes.

You can somewhat have it both ways. I have jailbroken every iPhone I have used since the iPhone 4. And I have had no adverse security issues. On my iPhone 6 I even used Apple Pay when it was jailbroken. The 6S+ that I am currently using does not have a jailbreak since it had an iOS 9 version that came after the jailbreak. I hope that a jailbreak comes soon though.

Does the S7 edge support dual sim capability in all versions or just designated models?
I know there was a picture that surfaced showing the option to put a micro sim in place of the micro sd and use dual sim functionality.

In one sense the iPhone is better. On my iPhone 6 I was still able to use Apple Pay on my jail broken phone. That is not the case with Samsung Pay even if vulnerabilities are discovered to allow rooting. Another Apple iOS advantage, is that almost every iOS has had vulnerabilities discovered to allow jailbreaking. I have been jailbreaking since iOS 4.
Wait.....so having vulnerabilities that can be exploited to jailbreak every version of IOS is a plus for Apple?

Hi.

I'm interested to a change from the iPhone but I've a question:

Did you notice on your S7 or S7 Edge any lag, shutter or whatever?!

Thanks!

Designated models only.

A bit of lag during initial setup as it downloaded updates and additional apps from playstore, but after that its been extremely smooth for me.

There is one exception. Flipboard Briefing page on left homescreen still has a hitch or delay going in and out of it. It doesnt affect me because i turn off the briefing screen as it is pretty much useless for me.

I heard that there was one person in the world who was actually using Fliboard. I've just found him.:D

I'm seeing some lag right now in the keyboard. Other than that it has been fairly smooth, it does skip frames here and there though. I would say it's smoother than my 6 Plus, but not as smooth as my 6S Plus.

Edit: I just figured out where the lag was coming from, I hope. I turned off swipe and vibrations in the keyboard setting and it seems to be doing better. Will see how this goes, wasn't looking forward to doing a factory reset.

It is not just the customization with Android. The apps also integrate so well. Use Google now andbitbwill give you suggestions based on past history and behavior. I'm onnvatuin in California. I seach for the SD Zoo from my hotel. Now 6 hours later I get a reminder card to ckick on for direction back to my hotel. All thebgiigkebaoos work perfectly and integrate.
I also get cards that have places if interest in the location I am in while on vacation.

Then you are in the alternative section in a Samsung thread. If based on what you have already said aboutball the idevices you already own......why are you even here?

Apparently, your keyboard does not work too well with all the mistakes made in your post.

Of course not. It just is a fact that there are a lot of hackers looking for vulnerabilities in iOS so as to jailbreak the device. This is the only way we have to jailbreak. Android users are more fortunate if the boot loader is unlocked then they can root and rom to their hearts content. Alas, with the S7 they can no longer do that and must rely on old fashioned vulnerabilities to hack into the OS. Since iOS hackers have been doing it for a long time then they have a leg up on the process. That was my point.

So a few days later ...

Call quality is very good on the Edge. Getting decent reception even in notorious black spot areas for cellular reception.

Accidental presses still happen but less frequently as you get used to 'how to hold and avoid'.

Battery life has been great for me. Absolutely no complaints.

Multitasking has been very good, still the odd refresh at times but I stress for me the majority of time it doesn't happen. So I am happy about that.

The screen is despite gorrilla glass 4, still very easy to get micro scratches if you expose it to sand / fine particles. Be aware folks.

Zagg shield I bought was useless, have ordered a tempered glass protector from Japan.

Still awaiting an unlock code from the carrier before I can use as my primary device and as soon as I have that I will be flashing an unbranded official firmware.

The 560 dpi scaling trick has made the experience vastly more enjoyable for me. Everything feels well proportioned now. Wish it was like this out of the box and didn't require us to tamper to achieve.

Overall - a very nice device :)

Yeah, not any noticeable interface lag when playing with my wife's s7e, but not quite as fast as an iPhone 6s plus

Although I did measure a fairly large gap in performance when loading up games. The latest need for speed takes a bit over 20sec to load on a 6s plus while the s7 is a bit over 30sec. Also noticed that it would not keep the game in memory when getting out and browsing and loading a few smaller apps .. I.e. Had to do a full 30+ sec reload, while on the 6s, it would just jump back in.

Apart from that the phone is impressive and has a magnificent screen. Hope apple improves the screen in the iphone7

So to achieve similar results you need a third party app with iPhone whereas Samsung's camera can be adjusted in-app.

This is why Apple need to integrate manual tools in iOS 10.

In terms of the S7 and S7 Edge I've just called into my local Carphone Warehouse and of the two devices I'd go for the Edge.

Apart from swiping to the left to access Flipboard/news it was buttery smooth. Some of the colours looked a bit aggressive for my tastes but I'm putting it down to in store lighting rather than the phone itself.

Also loved the Edge tray to access different shortcuts. Another thing Apple should have done with the Plus range!

Yeah that is really not even a fair comparison considering the third party app used on the iPhone.

I missed it, the DPI scaling trick requires root?

I have on been on vacation in San Diego California and using my Gallery S7 Edge. What a performer! I have taken over 300 pictures and 5 videos. Such a smooth end to end user experience it has been with this phone. Battery life has been spectacular. Easily lasting all day and then some with heavy use. Constantly taking pictures using navigation around the southern California freeways and looking up restaurant reviews. I used it poolside and at the beach without having to worry about getting it wet. The night/evening performance of the camera is the best I have seen on a smartphone.

How does the 560DPI trick work buddy? Out of the vox, everything is so zoomed in and big, it's not great, I prefer smaller and precise
