Guys, this moment just happened to me:

I was paying at a grocery and wanted to use Samsung pay for the first time and claim that $30 free gift card (look it up. Can't find link now). So I go to pay and hold up my phone to the credit card slider thing and the cashier says, "no apple pay here." And I said very legitimately (wasn't trying to be snarky at all) that this is Samsung pay. And right then, the transaction went through. Exactly like in that Samsung commercial. True story. What a moment.

Went through something similar. The guy say it's not going to work (just like the commercial). Didn't even have to unlock. Just swipe up and place finger. :D

Wish we had Samsung / Android or/and Apple Pay here ... :(
Not in Ireland yet?
It is nice to have as it saves all the faffing around trying to get a card out of your wallet and putting a number in. I didn't think I would use it but now it's just too convenient not to.

I'm sure you are only a matter of months away from getting it :)

Still on the fence. Loving the screen and camera. Battery definitely not getting me through a 6s plus type day no matter what I try to optimize short of the usual turn everything off type things. Headphone volume still seems lower than my 6s plus with my favorite buds. And I miss the integration with all apple services oddly enough including imessage and facetime and (believe it or not) apple music (the android beta is sluggish still). Oh and the ergonomics are still mind blowing to me even if I keep making accidental screen taps on the edges.

You must have not tried Android since the Gingerbread days. Give it a shot. Performance is as smooth or smoother than iOS with Marshmallow and likely N.

And I would say iOS is far more cluttered with all icons on a home screen and no widgets to display information for quick access. And don't get me started with whatever it is Apple calls a notification bar.

I can't say I can notice a difference between the two OS types in performance. Running the current version of both before you ask on a 6S+ & Note 5 respectively.

I too notice volume with my Bluetooth earphones is a bit lower than what it felt like with my s6. The loud speaker though is better. And the finger print reader is much faster too. I'm surprised most places say they're about the same. Not even close. I could do a side by side with my s6 and the s7 edge unlocks noticeably faster.

My issue with the fingerprint reader is less the speed and more the shape...if I use just the lateral aspect of my finger by accident it doesn't work. The slightly wider iPhone one is faster but also feels more reliable. Less sensitive to angles.
[doublepost=1458050492][/doublepost]Oh also it drives me crazy that the camera becomes so limited at 15-20% ironically for all the freedom I'd like to choose if I want to spend the last 45 minutes taking photos. Any tips or workarounds?

I am not sure what you mean by limited? I took 300 pictures over the weekend in California. Some when I only had 15% battery left and it did not limit the quality or function of the camera.
Do you have energy or power saving features turned on maybe?

The flash won't go off if you are under 10 or 15% battery. Don't remember the exact percentage.

I'm so conflicted, on one hand I'm trying to tone down the number of device purchases I make since I'm fairly content with the S6 minus a few small issues.

On the other hand, the S7 Edge is just so beautiful and the specs fix everything I thought was wrong with my S6.

Reading these forums is not making it any easier as the overwhelmingly positive user accounts are making the S7 Edge hard to pass up on.

I'm trying to tell myself it would be worth waiting a few more months until the Note 6 and iPhone 7 come out but I know regardless of what I do, I'll still be tempted by those devices as well.

As someone who is coming directly from a year with the S6 to the S7 Edge, I can safely say the S7 Edge (and presumably the S7 standard) truly does address all the little shortcomings of the S6.

Fingerprint scanner is faster.

Battery life is no longer a worry (bit of a cheat since I'm jumping to the Edge's 3600 mah size battery!). I'm easily getting 5+ SOT a day. If I wanted to, I'm sure I could push it to 6 or so. And once again, with quick charge/wireless charging, topping off the battery has never been easier. I just don't think about battery anymore.

Waterproofing makes wet hands or drizzle-y weather no longer a concern. The other day, I was walking my dog in the drizzle. No problem pulling the phone out to use. It's quite a luxury to be able to eliminate worries.

TouchWiz is better in every way. Hands down the best combination of useful features married with stock Android's stability and speed. It's not just been lag-free; it's actually fast. Everything responds right away and animates smoothly. I have yet to see any major hiccup in real world use after setting up the phone. Coming from the S6, I didn't think the difference could be so great, but it is.

Camera is better.

MicroSD has won me over. At first, I lamented the loss and simplicity of 64GB/128GB onboard storage options, but now, I'm a believer. I get far more storage than I ever could before, and all for far less money. That's a win. And thankfully, it's all very easy to use. You just set it up and kind of forget about it. Photos go where they should go, and playing music back from the microSD card is seamless and problem-free.

Then you consider the better build and ergonomics, and whatever else I've forgotten.

This may be the single greatest year to year upgrade I've seen and experienced in a smartphone. It's an insult to call this an 'iPhone-like S iteration.' I wish Apple would upgrade their S-generation smartphones like this!

And can we give a moment to appreciate all the insane offers and promotions? Free Gear VR, free year of Netflix. I got an email saying I'll get a free 32GB microSD card (did anyone else get this?). Free $30 gift card for using Samsung Pay the first time. Didn't a few people get a free wireless charger, too, for setting up Samsung Pay? I missed out on that. Just a ton of wonderful goodies and incentives.

I was playing around last night and managed to find that some of the themes on the store actually introduce a little bit of lag, some on the lock screen, some in the UI / animations. I found a really nice theme I like - but it has an animated lock screen and that introduces desperate lag on the lock screen and a couple more that caused stutters in animations.

I simply uninstalled them and reverted back to material theme or default and everything was and is like butter again.

So yeah, just something to bare in mind folks if you are experiencing any stutters or lag - it could be the theme you are using. :)

I feel that certain themes could affect battery as well. I experience this with my note 5.

Yeah, coming from a note 5 I didn't think I would see much of an upgrade, but I definitely see the performance upgrade, I love how small the phone feels in hand even though the screen is nearly identical, and battery life is even better.

Add in a slightly vetter screen, better feel in hand, water proofing (watching hulu while in the shower is awesome), Microsd, and better camera. I'm still in the honeymoon stage and my Note is now 7 months old, but I really feel this is a worthwhile update. Only drawbacks are no 64gb version and no spen, plus I wish they had kept the ir blaster.

Even Samsung's marketing is doing a better job this year. The ads are more focused on the S7 features -- highlighting waterproofing, microSD, the new design, and even Gear VR.

As for the ads that still compare the S7 to the iPhone, what can one say really? It's hard to get mad at an ad when it's accurate. The Apple Pay vs Samsung Pay ad, for example, actually happened to me exactly like in the commercial. It was unbelievable.

Maybe that's why so many Apple fans have such a hard time with those kinds of Samsung ads; because they're mostly true and often highlight weaknesses of the iPhone. I have said time and time again, we shouldn't be shy or afraid to call out all the missteps and shortcomings of the iPhone and Apple. Just like we shouldn't be afraid to call out all of Samsung's either, ie. the need for tighter control of carrier bloatware and influence, getting better at software updates, etc. They listened with the S6. The listened again even more with the S7. Hopefully they're listening again for the S8.

Is Apple listening?

Yep. They are listening on so many fronts.

Another thing I love is how they're moving most of the Samsung suite of apps to the Galaxy store instead of forcing it on people. Hope they continue with this route.

Or even if they want to allow the carriers to have bloat in there, that in itself is actually not what's bad. What's bad is making it uninstallable. They should work on the latter as a suggestion to the carriers as Samsung [hopefully] forges a better relationship and deal with them. (Don't hold your breath though, folks...)

We'll find out, I feel the pressure to reduce the bezels and update the springboard are louder now than they've ever been. They listened when making the phone larger and are listening now to those who want one that's smaller. This fall should be one of the biggest updates for mobile phones, you got the Nexus adding touchwiz like features, you got the apple redesign, and the note 6 following up an incredible phone in the s7, it's going to be lots of fun.
