30 minutes with the gear VR sure gave me a headache! But those were some fun 30 minutes.

Seriously, even those who don't have or plan to have the s7 and gear vr, still go out and find a way to play with virtual reality. It's better than I thought it'd be. But maybe I had low expectations of it to begun with.

Again, there is clearly room to grow. But it's still fun and exciting new tech that's finally good enough now to give it a try.

PS. I forgot to add, I feel like Cyclops when I'm using the gear VR.

Yea, that's normal for most people. I felt a little dizzy effect at first when playing any video or game that simulated me moving inside a vehicle or aircraft. Now it doesn't bother me at all.

I was fine until I went into one of those Six Flags Roller Coaster VR 360 Videos (in the Samsung Milk VR app). It felt like some NBA star used my brain as a basketball. About 30 seconds into it and I could not take it anymore. Funny thing is, that is exactly how I feel in a "real life" Roller Coaster which is why I do not ride them. So bizarre.

Another weird thing... watching Netflix in that huge house with that huge screen, and Movies in the Oculous Movie app with that huge theater screen... after that my 65" TV looks tiny.

Yeah, it's impressive how much content there is out there already. The milk VR app is pretty loaded. And they're mostly pretty good. At the very least, impressively showcasing the technology and potential. And at the most, a really immersive experience.

It's fun to even help new people with it. You're telling them, "look left" or "type with your eyes." Just neat and new stuff.

And I've yet to even dive into Netflix! I will soon. Just still enjoying the exploration of games and videos.

BTW... I think this means Samsung will never do front firing speakers on the galaxy s line. They need the speaker shooting out for gear VR.

That's being too generous to Gear VR (you're still in the over excited, novelty stage) and generally over thinking things.

The reason current is more likely due to practical design considerstions based on the small top and moreover bottom bezels. With home button and capacitive buttons on bottom bezel, putting a speaker on there in current form would simply be impractical and a bad design choice. How many front firing handsets have dedicated home buttons and capacitive buttons on their chin as well as a front speaker ?

... a solution to that practicality has yet to be found by Samsung and until they do we will not see front firing speakers.

As for Gear VR what makes you think Gear VR version 2.0 couldn't simply have its own speakers built into the device ? ;) By comparison a solution would be very easy to implement.

Turn the brightness down to the bottom when using the VR. It really helps, trust me.

What kind of cases are you guys using on your edge?

I'm looking at either UAG or Spigen's Slim Armour for day to day use and the official Samsung leather case as a weekend case but would love to hear about other potential options.

Evutech Karbon SI and a Spigen Neo Hybrid (because it was on sale for like 3 bucks).

So here is an interesting thought:
I am using and fully enjoying my s7 edge. My wife switched from her 6s (which was giving her a ton of problems) to an s7 and loves it.

I recently, through a promotion, got a gear s2 classic 3g for 5 bucks a month (no money down, watch essentially free and just paying for the line). What a good little smart watch, I am really surprised, specially compared to the past gear watches. I have tried and returned a Moto 360 once, and an Apple Watch twice. The watches didn't fit add to/benefit my daily routines, didn't look great compared to my classic watches, and I didn't like the way they functioned/the interface worked.

The gear s2 looks great, functions great, and the interface is pleasant to use. I am really enjoying and finding it augments my daily routine in a beneficial way. The battery life is great, and again, it looks like a classic watch.

Anyway, here is the interesting thought:

I am using a s7 edge, gear s2, and a surfacebook. I am finding that they integrate just as well, and in some cases better, than my iphone/ipad/macbook combo. The devices are extremely reliable, with intuitive software. But even more, they look better and (IMO) currently function better than the equivalent Apple combo. I am not saying Apple is loosing it, but...are they loosing it? Where is the innovation and market leading hardware? Samsung seems to be taking a chapter out of Apple's books from 3-5 years ago...and Apple seems to be slacking a little.

Maybe I am wrong?

I feel similarly about Apple.

Waiting eagerly to see what they'll do with the iPhone 7. I've argued for a very long time they shouldn't rest on their laurels.

It's very tempting to see their record sales/profits and conclude that they don't need to change anything they're doing (which is something many argue for here). I argue the opposite.

This is the one I'm using. I like it because it's easy to remove, so I just keep it in the car and if it looks like I'll be doing something where I'll need it I'll slap it on and thenew take it off when I'm done.

I been wearing the Gear 2 Neo for awhile now. It's the reason why I don't miss the lack of an IR sensor on my S7 edge. It still looks great, battery life last almost a week, and is still one of the thinnest smartwatches out.

I was highly tempted by the Gear S2 classic though. You got a great deal on that!!!

I love how in the TouchWiz gallery app you can drag your finger across to quickly pick multiple photos. Just press and hold and drag.

I know Google photos did this first. Very intuitive and useful feature.

Yup great feature. Can do the same in Photos on iOS and a lifesaver when I have to clean up my kid's camera roll. ;)
