The update has been great so far. The keyboard lag is gone, or at least it hasn't shown up the few times I've used the keyboard since the update. And on the lockscreen, I have a cut on my right thumb so I have had to put in pass code when I unlock it with that hand, and every time it it lagged on the pass code but not now.

The other thing I'm noticing is the errant touches I've been getting have all but been eliminated. It's only been a couple of hours, but so far so good.

Sounds like the update we got a week or so ago. It too corrected same things.

I had noticed less errant touches myself too but was not sure if that was because of the case I'm now using, or the update.

Performance is superb. Even better after update. And the update brings the April security patches in tow.

Really gotta love what Samsung and T-Mobile are doing here.

I'm happy for Samsung's success, but still waiting for some of the promo items:

Free 32GB micro SD card from Samsung still hasn't arrived yet.

Free Gear VR isn't shipping until April 18th.

BOGO Samsung fast wireless chargers are backordered with no idea of when they'll be restocked.

I don't actually need any of these things, but still eager to get them. Especially the Gear VR. I can't wait to try it.

EDIT: Wow, talk about timing. I got my tracking number for the Gear VR just now. woohoo!

Anyone know if the unlocked S7/S7 edges will also be bootloader unlocked?
http://www.ubergizmo.com/2016/04/best-buy-galaxy-s7-s7-edge/

Other concerns would be lack of wifi calling, and from what I'm reading they have the Exynos proc which would mean no Samsung pay. Thoughts?
believe that's a yes for for bootloader unlock able

No Samsung pay, no volte, no WiFi calling

Wonder if it will have issues on us carriers despite having appropriate bands. S6 international users reported cell issues in USA in the same circumstances and it scared me away last year

So glad I got mine from Costco. My Gear VR and SD card took literally six days from mailing the rebate form to arriving on my door. Way faster than I thought it would. The $25 gift card from Costco won't be here until after the 90 day return period, so that will take awhile. But that's fine. I am most wanting the rebate for the free phone though so I can pay that off. Not sure when I will get that from T-mobile. Hopefully soon!

Yeah, the promotions have truly been great. To date, I've gotten:

1) A mere $10 dollar out of pocket upgrade cost to get the Edge because Tmobile gave me a $50 credit to make up for the delay of my original pre-order. I ended up cancelling the pre-order, and went to the store to get the Edge on release day. I had to pay the $60 dollar payment to get the Edge, but got the $50 credit later on, so net payment out of my pocket was $10 bucks.

2) Free year of Netflix (continued from my previous free year of Netflix for getting the S6!)

3) Free Gear VR + games (arriving today! Can't wait to try it out).

4) Free 32GB Samsung microSD card (not using it, but still nice. Instead, I'm using a higher class 128GB card I got from Best Buy on sale for $90 bucks)

5) Free $30 gift card for using Samsung Pay once (I picked the Regal Cinema gift card!)

6) And two Samsung Fast Wireless chargers during their BOGO event. So got two for $50 bucks. (still backordered at this point, though)

So not only is the S7 Edge itself the best and most worry-free phone I've owned to date, it's been nothing but a shower of goodies and free stuff, too, along with it. Plus, the overall experience with Tmobile has been lovely: Very little carrier bloat. And to date, Tmobile/Samsung has pushed out three software updates, including the latest April security patches from Google.

Best overall smartphone upgrade experience ever.

I got one of my Gear VRs Friday and I'm waiting on the second one. I did get both of the 1 year Netflix free codes so I have two free years of Netflix. The second Gear VR isn't supposed to ship till April 30.

I still have three of those 30% off any Samsung purchase in their online store but I have no idea what to use them on. I tried buying some SD cards but since they were already on sale, I couldn't use them. maybe I'll but the wireless charger. I don't really want to spend money just to get a discount when I really can't think of much of anything I even need.

Double the goodies for you. Nice.

And yeah, there's not much I'd want from the Samsung website. Maybe bluetooth headsets or extra cases/covers? Those flipcovers seem to be popular.

If you want to spare one of those promo codes to me... ;D But I'm in the same boat; there's not much else I need or want from Samsung accessories at this stage.

Wait, you're saying the bootloader can be, or is unlocked? It's a shame you lose those other services.

I'm totally sold on VR. The fact that I got the unit for free is awesome. Everyone I've shown have been blown away. They had no idea what to expect. I never cared for 3D, but for me VR is an awesome and worthwhile experience. Two coworkers who plan to upgrade to an S7 Edge have actually said they will definitely pick up a Gear VR. These are people who otherwise would never have bothered. Bring on the 6K displays. ;)

funny story. I showed VR to my 80 year old mother the other day. She was blown away!

What sort of battery life are you getting? SOT/Standby?

If I'm answering honestly, I have no idea. And that's because I simply don't worry or think about battery life much anymore. I think I'm getting what most people are getting: anywhere between 4-5 hours of SOT depending on use.

In reality, I simply don't bother checking or scrutinizing it. I just know my device will easily last me through a single day and then some. And with wireless chargers and quick charging, anytime I let my device idle on my desk, it's topping off on my wireless charging stand. Anytime I know I might have a late night and really want to feel extra safe, I plug in the quick charger for a quick 10 min boost before I go back out.

Again, just one of the most worry-free phone experiences ever.

So after the update, I've decided I'm not going to plug my phone in for the rest of the day, just see where battery life is. And so far, so good. On pace for 7.5hours screen time, which is a huge improvement over what I had been getting at around 5-6hours, which was still pretty good. Will update later today.

I dont believe it is unlocked out of the box, I believe there is some command or process you have to run to get it unlocked (maybe in recovery?). would imagine they give some kind of disclaimer you are destroying knox or something. Cant say I have done the process!

I think the process is to enable the developer settings. Then enable the OEM unlock bootloader slider. Then flash recovery and an rooted rom through Odin. does that sound right?

that makes sense, I think you can also use custom recovery to flash roms or just flash root to the stock rom too, along with odin (i believe exynos has a custom recovery at least?), you should have both choices once custom recovery is on there

It was only incremental improvements. Don't think it fixed what everybody hated in the first place.
What everyone hated about it was the performance and design. Performance, whether by brute force or optimization, has been improved significantly. And for design, it is much cleaner than it was, but even if you don't like it you can now theme it.
