Yes, I got two micro scratches on my device very quickly despite babying the device. Essentially if you are anywhere in a sandy environment or exposed to sand/grit - that's the main culprit to watch out for.

Gorilla Glass 4 may be able to survive keys, knives and whatever else, but it's the smallest inconspicuous little sand and grit particles rubbing against the screen that cause damage.

If your in the city or an urban environment you may be fine. If your on the coast and exposed regularly to beaches, then use a screen protector and great caution.

Like yourself I have tried these curved glass protectors and the corners raise with a case and even lift a little in the middle of the screen reducing sensitivity.

I now have a film fitted both front and back and its a much better solution IMO even though it seems to have an almost soft rubbery properties its smooth to the normal touch stokes although slightly harder to clean.

Living on the edge of a desert I agree unless there is a 100% sealed contact there's always the chance of trapped grit/sand

I noticed in one of your other posts you noted that you cut the corners off the protector, I'm surprised as I thought being glass it would crack at the very least

I've had three updates in the one month I've owned my T-Mobile S7 Edge. Nice going T-Mobile!

I'm glad I picked this phone over the Nexus 6P. Even during the $75 off deal + free case that BestBuy was having a few weeks ago, I thought of buying a 6P just to have but decided against it.

I love my S7 Edge!

I had the 6P for a good week or so. It was for the most part a lovely device. However, I returned it to wait for the S7, and I am glad I did.

At this point in time in the Android landscape, you can't really go wrong with either the S7 Edge or Nexus 6P though!

In depth review from Erica Griffith. Really great review, hits on all the points I've noticed in my use of the S7 Edge. Also explains what those bars mean from previous posts.

Where, roughly, is the explanation for those bars? It's a long video. The links in the descriptions help, but not sure where to look for info on those bars...

I imagine it's some developer's mode thing?

It was about half way through, not time to look it up now, will post the actually time later. But it means the frame rate everything is moving on screen and each bar represents a dropped frame. So the higher the bar, more frames dropped.

15:49 ..... Erica's video and my photos don't show anywhere near the level of what Surf Donkey posted.

Thanks, guys. I'll watch it in a moment.

So what does drop frame equate to? Stuttering? Lag?

It has nothing to do with speed, but the fluidity of the ui. Closest to stuttering. So instead of things being silky smooth, depending on how many frames are dropped and how frequent, things will start jumping around and motion looks choppy. I've noticed the dropped frames too, but it's not too bad, most probably won't notice.

Actually I have noticed TW Launcher drop frames, for example the first time you go into home screen management (long press on screen) it will drop frames and creates an appearance of lag, yet come out and go back into it and it will be smooth ...

It definitely is the launcher at fault and not hardware, since switching to Action Launcher 3 I have no frame drops when going into its home screen management - it's consistently smooth.

Hopefully this shows that it may be possible to fix these occasional drops in UI animations in TW Launcher with software updates.

But as you say for most users they likely won't notice these little stutters or won't recognise what they are even if they do. The S7/S7e are certainly the smoothest TW Launcher has been so far.

I can confirm the T-Mobile update today has done nothing to make my phone feel "snappier."

Hangouts really is buggy and laggy. Google needs to get their sh*t together with that app. It was the worse culprit of lag on the s6.

Thankfully with latest TW and MM, Hangouts finally runs smoothly. It's the first time I've ever experienced hangouts without lag or issue.

Interesting, I live in the city so sand and grit shouldn't be an issue but I prefer the piece of mind offered with a screen protector. The other potential option is Costco's protection plan which is $50 at first and then $50 for the deductible should something happen to the phone.

Regardless, I have yet to find the edge in stock anywhere in Vancouver. Maybe it's just not meant to be...
