it is in my house...i can sit on my sofa and look at it in real life and see exactly what it looks like. The wood looks more real in the first pic. It looks washed out and dull in the second pic. Same with all the colors. The second pic is a more true representation of what it actually looks like.

I'm confused. Which pic is close to reality? You've got a green wall?

You're right MRU. I didn't pick up the difference until just now. The guy wrote the article yesterday. I wonder if he just got the model numbers wrong? But if he didn't then that is just wrong to compare a whole generation back against a current gen phone.

Yeah reading it he says 8mp so must be iPhone 6!!

I agree with you. Colors look strange to me, but all Samsung post processing looks a bit strange to me. The white balance is odd and the color saturation as well. Looking at MRU's post a bit earlier vs the SE, the rocks are brightened, colors look off, it just doesn't look true to life.

That said I am sure it is only noticeable is side-by-side pictures. It still is a nice shot on its own. And Samsung does have the best camera experience right now.... quick to open, focus, and take a picture. But again, the post processing just doesn't look the best to me in comparison.

yeah that makes no sense to me at all. I asked the writer why he compared phones generations apart like that. Not a fair comparison.

The wood looks oversaturated and yellow in the first pic. Grey wall is green. I don't need my eyes checked. LoL

The second pic looks better to me too. :D
lol I think your brand blind.....or just used to seeing things washed out and bland. Have a great day.....

Could be you that is brand blind @jamezr. Just sayin, it is a possibility ;)
anything is possible...we ALL have our preferences and our dislikes. Some will post in threads of brands they dislike just to post something negative...... makes you wonder doesn't it? ;)

Oh yeah..... see it all the time around here. Kind of the way it goes. Even by our regulars here in the "alternatives" section. But calling one of those photos better is not a case of this.

so...one isn't better than the other? The S7 camera is not better by all the reviewers and tech blogs on the internet? Or is it that fact that it is a Samsung phone that holds it back for you? Yoda says..."Ah...the bias is strong with this one....." ;)

Where is my bias here?

I don't like the post processing on Samsung photos. Simple as that. I did say the camera is better, as an experience, as a shooter, as a video camera. But the photos side by side with some of the other phones out there does not look as good to me. I don't need reviewers to tell me that. In my opinion G5 is by far the best camera out there right now. But the phone is a dud, so it won't get the kind of reviews Sasmung is getting.
[doublepost=1462285396][/doublepost]I mean seriously, you are posting a review of a almost three year old iPhone 6 vs the S7 to try to prove your point. That is brand bias if I have ever seen it. lol.

I totally agree with you about the article I posted. I did not see it was comparing the iPhone 6 to the S7. If you read my reactions when that was brought to my attention you would have seen that I did not know. But I think you already know that. The article was wrong to compare an iPhone 6 to the current gen S7 and the article was written 5/02/16. w I have said so multiple times.
C'mon we all know you don't like Samsung and TW you prefer Nexus and stock phones. It's all good..... :D
It's funny because I have never seen you defend the iPhone before. But bias makes for strange bedfellows sometimes. You prefer to ding anything Samsung. In the Nexus thread you championed the 6P and said how much you dis like Samsung and how much they sucked and how you hated TW and pretty much hate all things Samsung.
Then in the HTC 10 thread accused epicrayban and I of hijacking that thread with talk of Samsung phones.
So pot calling the kettle black is amusing.....

Its circular. Everything is about Samsung with you two in every thread. It is just as off topic as me derailing this thread. All good though as well. They are your favorite brand.

And everything else you say is true.....I do not like Touchwiz. Samsung charges a ton for bloated phones and don't support them. They have tarnished Android permanently. But I do talk about the bad with the 6P around here all the time as well. I don't call my favorite brand the best. That is ridiculous. I don't worship any brands.

And for Apple, I have a few iPhones, they are OK. Camera is nice (nicer than the S7 in photos) and iOS is boring. Not much else to say?

Well done and spot on even as a casual reader of this area it is easy to see the bias.

The main cons of Samsung don't really effect serial upgraders so it's hard for me to blame them, but I hear you loud and clear. Unfortunately serial upgrading also reinforces samsungs lack of support as a nonissue. We got vicious circles all over the place! ;)

Nexus has its issues too, so I went back to this godforsaken iPhone :p

Seriously though I can't wait for either nexus to step it up with hardware or Samsung to offer some better support and unlocked sim free style variant(from us perspective)

Used my JoD last night to jump from the S7 edge to the S7. Just had too many false touches on the sides of the S7e and always had to watch the way I held it. So far haven't had any issues with the S7. Didn't think I would like the smaller disaply but so it has been great!

All very true. I really hope someone finds the prefect middle ground with a decent priced phone, nice features and good OS support.

And if we are bickering over Android phones internally, it just goes to show how little differentiation there is in the market. 5 years ago, there was so much buzz with every new release, who would come out on top, who would innovate. It was so unknown and so much fun to talk about. Now it is just stagnate. There is not much to say, every release is mostly predictable. Waterproofing of all things is considered an exciting feature. Everything is so similar, it has just become a bit boring. Apple vs Android is a dead horse. But we still have passion about the devices and want to talk about something, so it gets nitpicky. All in good fun though.

The be together not the same mantra has been frustrating!

If you have the criteria of unlocked, non carrier phones - the pool of available devices is far too small. Then if you want all the carrier features like wifi calling, volte, carrier aggregation - you're down to nexus. Or HTC 10 if you are okay with only having the GSM side of the phone.

Maybe I'm too picky for wanting all the power (no carrier BS) and all the carrier features, on any carrier... but the way I see it I have 2 choices (3 kinda with htc since I really prefer GSM)

moto x pure not fully supported w/ att carrier features if anyone was thinking moto (but that is ATTs fault, dont know why they bent for HTC here but not moto, verizon has all carrier features on moto x pure)

Yeah the false touches and the difficulty gripping the device when watching videos has really irked me. It's slipped out of my hands more often than any other device including the slippery bare iPhone 6 & 6S. It was one of the reasons I just decided to go ahead and order the HTC 10, just because of frustration.

Aesthetically the S7e is an amazing device to look at, but from a practicality stand point wise it can be one of the most cumbersome.

yep...so far none of those issues with the regular S7. Love the edge screen technology but couldn't take the false touches anymore. I surprised myself with how I am adapted the smaller S7. I thought the size would bother me but it hasn't so far.
I generally like phablet size phones.

Yeah I'm surprised with how much I've actually enjoyed the SE since I got it. I guess using phablets for so long, when you go smaller you appreciate the benefits that smaller devices do offer ergonomically. So yeah in future I'm keeping big / small so have benefits of all whether iOS or Android :)

How are you finding smaller battery with the S7 ?

Wow, I almost never get false palm touches. The only time it happens is with one handed typing, but even that's rare. Plus, with the new stock Android keyboard (v5), being able to resize the height and/or dock your keyboard left/right makes one handed typing and gesture typing much easier and more reliable.

And it definitely takes some getting used to when holding it for videos and whatnot, but it's never so much trouble that it's a dealbreaker.

Shame you guys are having issues with false palm touches.

I definitely hear you, MRU, about the slipperiness of this phone. I use it completely naked; it can be very slippery if my hands are dry. Haven't dropped it yet though. : knock on wood :

I haven't noticed a difference so far in battery life tbh.

Do you have the 6s+ and SE? Everything I have read about the SE has been all positive! :) Imagine if they discount the SE after the IP7 release this fall. Imagine a SE for $299 or $350? How has the battery life been on the SE?

maybe not palm touches as much as sides of my hand and fingers when holding it around the edges.
