I think with the larger battery, the phone will be thicker, which I think is a GREAT move. Not only does it mean a huge battery and a near-flush camera, but it also means better ergonomics. Grip, one handed use, ease of holding, etc.

Finally, a maker who is going thicker for all the right reasons.

I'm glad they're adding more battery for certain but it'll have to be a lot thicker to allow for an edge that's larger than last years model considering the curved back. Of course, we'll see for certain once it's released. I personally didn't like the curved front display at all so the edge of the device, for me, is actually a moot point.

I agree...I might get the S7 edge + to tide me over to the Note 6 or maybe not. But if I do get it...it will have to have a case on it. You nailed it with the thin sharp edges on the edge models.

I love the use of the curve on the back..improved the ergonomics and seems like a much more practical use of the curved glass, at least at this point. The Note 5 really is my favorite Samsung design so far.

Yeah, the Note 5 is a beauty, and in my opinion, great in the hand especially given it's screen size.

Initially, I was going to go for the Edge this year, but since there isn't a 5.1" size Edge variant, I'm not going to bother with the Edge either. My main concern is accidental palm touches, more than sharp edges. Though I can't imagine sharp edges are comfortable either.

S7 regular it will be, if all these rumors pan out.

Pretty phone but the Edge model now has a curved back too? I found the thin metal frame on the S6 Edge uncomfortable--this will be like a razor blade.

The pic I posted is the S7 edge press photo, no curved back. The other pic posted by epi is of a S7 dummy unit, not the edge. This is basically the Note 5 design with the curved back. Which I think was the right move.

Samsung Galaxy S7 preliminary size comparison
http://www.phonearena.com/news/Sams...vs-iPhone-6s-Galaxy-S6-LG-G4-and-more_id78195

Wow, I have to give a clapping hand to Samsung for this. I'm still not in the market for the S7, but thank the Lord Samsung had the balls to actually make the phone thicker for a larger 3,000mAh battery and minimizing the camera bump. Nice to see a a manufacturer not be so insanely focused on making the phone paper thin for zero reason.

- S7 = 142.5 x 69.5 x 7.9 mm
- S6 = 143.4 x 70.5 x 6.8 mm
- iPhone 6S = 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm

- S6 = 143.4 x 70.5 x 6.8 mm 5.1 inch display

Very true. Makes me wonder why they went so thin in the S6.

Makes me ask, why Apple is so crazy obsessed with making the iPhone paper thin ? I just don't get the thinking on that ? Why ? Who doesn't want a bigger battery and longer lasting phone, over a chic wafer thin phone ?

I actually prefer thinner phones. You take a phone as big as the Note or the 6 Plus and make it 8-9mm thick all the way around and it just feels like a brick to me. The thinness along with smaller bezels is what is allowing us to have these nice phones with big screens imo. Why I would of course appreciate better battery life, but I do not want to sacrifice thinness for battery, as long as I still get 4-5hrs screen on time.

There's always the option of getting a battery case for those that want battery, I just saw a review for one for the Note 5 which triples battery life, but make the phone twice as thick.

I want the phone to be relatively thin personally because since these high quality materials are so damn slippery I need to use a case. The camera bulge is no bother because the case covers it

If the phone is both thicker and not made with more durable materials then you are making a thick phone even thicker. More power to you if you can run with it naked, but my hands are too sweaty and these devices are too expensive

I feel like the manufacturers design knowing most people put it in a case

I've only went caseless on the GS4

Not saying these GS7 specs are too thick btw

I've seen girls store it between their assets. It helps to be thin and light in this case.

We've been storing it between our assets since the days of the 3GS. A little thickness isn't going to topple us over.

I think it's because you can throw a battery case if you need more but can't remove the extra weight if you don't. My phone, for example, has good enough battery life for my needs.

Was never a fan of Samsung phones (I have owned a few in the past). However each leaked info about the S7 makes it seem better and better!

I think this is going to be a big year for Android phones. In particular, motorola/lenovo, samsung, LG and Nexus. Perhaps not in sales but in performance and value.

The s7 looks impressive. Would like to see how lg brings it also.

Pre orders possibly beginning Feb 21st? Free Gear VR being thrown in apparently.

Tempting, but I will try to resist for future price breaks. Plus, all the rumors need to come true first, too. ;)

Ya, if they all come true.

As I said before, the potential for Samsung is there. Most, if not everything, so far sounds like they're making the right decisions.

And if it all comes true, what a way to start 2016's flagships. It'll set the example, hopefully, and others will have to up their game, too (cough Apple). We all benefit from this.

This S7 still has that cheesy style again from Samsung.

The logo on the front :( Cheap looking chrome speaker grille :( Shiny plastic ring around the home button :(

These phones look immature, and almost sort of cheap with those parts of the front style still.

Anyone complaining about the incredibly small increase in thickness for the extra battery size is proof people will never be happy and constantly move the goal post.
Or it could be different people have different wants. Or it could be people think they want something but as soon as they get it in there hands realize they don't.

You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all the people all of the time.

I didn't notice the height and width initially cause I was focused on the thickness, but it looks like the S7 will be slightly shorter and slightly less wide. That's nice.

Also... we're forgetting that if the force sensitive screen is true, that might be another thing that's adding to the extra thickness. Again, larger batter, waterproofing, possibly force sensitive screen, all for 1.1 millimeters?

Worth it.

I've seen people say 'I'd take an inch thick phone if it gave me a week of battery'.

But would you? For one thing, imagine how heavy that would be. Having to take a phone which weighs about a kilo and won't fit comfortably in any pockets, weighing down your clothes and sticking out. And how hard is it to just plug your phone in when you go to sleep, or with the fast charging capabilities we have, when you have lunch, or other times when you might not be using a phone, providing you don't forget? I can understand a bit of heft to get you through a full day on any occasion, or to get you through a few hours without charging it, but an inch thick phone for a week? Sorry, I'm not getting it.

I think advancements in batteries won't lie in getting you through long periods of time, but in better fast charging capabilities. If my phone could charge in 10 minutes, which at the rate we're going at today, could happen within the next few years, then I would take 2 hours SOT. Not joking. Fast charging today is a bit overblown. Sure, it has improved, but waiting 90 minutes without using your phone while waiting for it to charge completely is a bit unrealistic for ideal use cases. I find that currently, the first 50% charges about as quickly as the last 10%. If they can get a consistent rate of charging throughout the whole process, that would be a huge step forward.
