Yeah. I say again, the potential here for Samsung is huge. The rumors all sound great.

I'm really getting tired of Samsung's front design on their phones. The logo on the front is not needed anymore, and the cheesy chrome speaker grille on top needs to be changed to black or color of the phone, and the bottom home button, needs to get rid of the chrome around it, looks cheap.

I have to say, Apple makes the front of their phone look slick, with no branding or cheesy shiny parts on the front either. Same with the Nexus line, and OnePlus line too.
Yeah, I agree with you. I don't get why they're so against a strait black color, it always has to have some sort of pattern or hint of blue. I really like how on my 6 Plus the screen just sort of blends with the bezel, sort of making this seamless look, which would work even better with amoled.

From the leaks it does look as though they have at least gotten rid of the chrome around the camera lens.

They're becoming the oem we knew they could be once they got their sh*t together. Finally got build right last year, and design have improved exponentially. They just need to put the finishing touches.

yep agreed...they just need to focus a little more on software. They always have great cutting edge hardware.

Always? Their history is cheap plastic tat priced expensively. They only started their cutting edge hardware last year.

The leaked S7 photos are ugly but I'll hold final judgement until release as the leaks could be disguises like what they do to test cars.

Samsung has always had excellent internal hardware and future proofing. They were first to push 2GB DRAM in 2012 while the rest of the industry was 1GB or less. They also championed long battery life.

Last year they blew away the industry on design, build quality, camera, VR, etc.

Anxious for the 21st to see what they have in store this year. What I'd like to see is 6" display since their physical phone sizes are relatively tiny with minimal bezels, 6MB DRAM since multitasking runs out of memory with plenty of SoC cycles left, return of SD slot so I can use the Samsung Pro+ MLC SD card with industry leading write performance and longevity, refocus on even longer battery life, more built-in smart features like Gravity screen on/off ...

Can't wait to see what the story is on the software front, both in trimming down TouchWiz and in new features.

Yep...best screens...best cameras year after year. Best RW on their new SSDs inside S6\N5

They always had brilliantly engineered hardware, but with crappy design and build. HTC always has great build and design, but crappy engineering. Apple has always stood apart as the only one great in all 3 (well, Sony too but they don't seem to want to sell phones).

Just check out ifixit, the HTC One, while beautifully designed with great build was very poorly engineered, all their components looked thrown in and slapped together with duct tape. While Samsung, even on a horribly designed S5, was a thing of beauty when taken apart, all the components laid out and put together with a lot of thought and precision, much like Apple hardware.

Yeah this for me will be the central decision maker as to whether I pick one up sooner rather than later. I'm not going to kid myself that I won't buy the S7 Edge, because eventually I'd get one regardless. But if they have optimised software and got ram management under control it would be a sooner rather than later purchase.

However... Last year early reviewers / previews and such failed to mention the ram issues, it was only when it got into people's hands and folks like myself began noticing how aggressively things were being closed. (it was my post on xda that labelled the issue going forward)

So I will this year wait at least until it's in people's hands for a few weeks... in doing so we should get the truth as to whether it's been fixed. Plus I should be able to pick one up cheaper rather than buy at launch and paying over the odds.. i.e. €949 for last year's 64gb Edge on launch :(

Nothing wrong with plastic as it's much more forgiving to dings and scratches and it doesn't hamper radio signal like aluminum. When I passed on my 2010 Galaxy S last year the person remarked that it looked like new. I'd actually like to see space age materials used in new devices like carbon nanotube.

Samsung should send you an early S7 Edge for testing. :)

New press renders leaked. That home button is looks bigger (maybe not), guessing it should improve an already fast and accurate fingerprint reader. And that front camera looks huge. Can't wait for the unveiling.

Pretty phone but the Edge model now has a curved back too? I found the thin metal frame on the S6 Edge uncomfortable--this will be like a razor blade.

I think with the larger battery, the phone will be thicker, which I think is a GREAT move. Not only does it mean a huge battery and a near-flush camera, but it also means better ergonomics. Grip, one handed use, ease of holding, etc.

Finally, a maker who is going thicker for all the right reasons.

I agree...I might get the S7 edge + to tide me over to the Note 6 or maybe not. But if I do get it...it will have to have a case on it. You nailed it with the thin sharp edges on the edge models.
