OEM just need to drop the numbers. Calling it just a Galaxy S or iPhone is all you need. The year is all you need to know to designate the model generation. Like cars. Saying I have an NSX then elaborating it's a 2017 would let people know which one. Simple.

Will there be any fingerprint sensor improvements? The nexus 6p is apparently one of the best sensors out right now.

This makes sense. I feel as though both Samsung and Apple won't be dropping their Galaxy or iPhone brand names anytime soon, so it will get to a point where they have to number the devices by year.

Yeah, it's going to get really silly one day having to say "Hey Garp, did you buy the new iPhone 29 ?" :)

OTOH, look at the SuperBowl. It's still done by number, 50 years later.

I hope so. My S6 Edge+ has a hit and miss success rate. It's just not good enough. I hope they can improve on that without compromising on anything.

I have the S6 Edge. It's been 99% accurate for me, but requires you to leave your finger on the home button for second longer. I actually like it, cause I can mistakenly touch the home button without unlocking. Touch ID on the iPhone is extremely sensitive, and I found myself always unlocking by mistake. It also didn't help that the iPhone's home button is a depression that your finger naturally likes to slide over. So if Samsung does improve the fingerprint sensor, I just hope they don't make it too sensitive.

I wish US was getting exynos this year again. I don't trust snapdragon after last year.

Exactly how I feel, which is why I was happy to hear the Canadian version has been confirmed to have the Exynos. But even so, there shouldn't be issues with the snapdragon this year, as it's been widely reported Sammy gave an assist this year to Qualcomm for dealing with early overheating issues. Fingers crossed.

Wow...why in the world is that phone coming with SIX gigs of ram? That's crazy! Lol.

Just curious, you guys all agree wireless charging on the s7 is a given, right?

Haven't heard anything rumor wise on that front for the s7 have we?

See when I hear that it worries me. It points more to throwing lots of ram at a device than optimising software so it's more ram friendly ... As long as the 6gb gives us the same ram performance as the likes of the 6P / Z5 / G4 with 3gb and ends the aggressive ram issue, I guess it's a good thing ... :/

I think wireless charging is a given....

That is crazy! I hope that is not true for the production phones. Does not speak well to the software optimizations.

Not necessarily. They may be using a 4/2 split with dedicated RAM to other feature sets? Who knows. But TW is not as RAM hungry as it once was, and I doubt Samsung is going to go back to their old ways after getting hammered by consumers on the crappy S4 and S5 software.

Wait what? Where is this 6gb of ram thing coming from? Link?

I would not complain if they packed the s7 with 6gb of ram!

Actually TW is faster than it ever was, but IS also more ram hungry than it EVER was. It uses more Ram for just the system than at any point in the past ...

It uses more system ram to run TW on the GS6 or Note 5 (1.8 to 2.5gb) than the G4 or G5 ever used for just for system.

The repercussion being less Ram available to Apps and less applications being able to run in the background.

It's more the fact that it would imply that it 'needs' 6gb and therefore the rumoured optimisations of Google are sadly like in the past when we've heard similar .. Just rumours.

Likewise 'if true' it could be seen as a clear admission of the ram issues present on current devices and doesn't bode well for an effective software update to said current devices to resolve the issue ... They'd essentially be SOOT.

I hope this rumour remains a rumour, there's not a chance in hell of them getting the system ram usage (just system load - not apps) down below 1gb like other flagship devices out now if they are doubling ram from 3 to 6gb ... If anything as said previously it implies an increased need ...

I'm surprised they haven't yet adopted the dual-tone flash, especially considering several flagship phones have had them since 2014.

Hmmm...that glare can't quite make out the extent of the curve of the back. Certainly nothing new. Looks like the back of the edge +.

The more exciting thing is if this pic is true it'll mean they did put that 3000 mah battery inside.

It'll mean easier to hold in the palm too.

Link to the rumor? I just can't see them suddenly going to 6gb of ram. That is such a weird progression for the s7.

Yeah the implications are interesting to consider. But 6gb of ram??? Shouldn't that be more than enough? That is a wild number. Hard to believe.

There's more results I just googled S7 6gb ram.. I hadn't heard of it until it was posted earlier.

I am more akin to believe 4gb is more realistic myself...
