Cant get past the curved design. Did they do this to more resemble the iphone 6? Did they not realise the iphone 6 is the ugliest iphone design to date after the plastic iphone 3gs which this S7 edge looks like especially in black.

S6 Edge plus is a significantly better looking phone.

Screen sizes are too small for me anyway. If S7 edge plus plus comes closer to 6.5 inches I may overlook the downgrade in design.

Is that a microSD/second SIM hybrid slot I see?
Could be either as many OEMS do it this way now. Could be just a sdcard slot and micro sim for single sim models, could be a dual microsim for its duos models where one sim slot can be substituted for the microSD.

The return of the SD card makes sense given that marshmallow finally allows proper SD card support. This is probably the only feature of marshmallow I care for.

I hope they do release an S7 plus alongside the Note 6 towards the end of the year. 6.5 inch screen would be good given the standard S7 edge is 5.5 inches.

As for the S7, that video confirms how ugly it looks at all angles. The Samsung S series have always been the ugliest flagship phones of all brands and nothing has changed this iteration.

The s is ugly? I think you are the only person on the planet that thinks that.

The gs6 was by far the best looking phone Samsung or any oem ever put out in my opinion and the web and almost every review site praised the GS6 looks.

I mean just for fun I challenge you to find me one review site that calls the gs6 ugly.

Seriously

I personally think the s6 Edge variant is far more aesthetically good looking than the standard S6 tbh. But whilst I certainly don't think the S6 was ugly by any means myself - beauty is very much a subjective thing so they are not 'wrong' to have that opinion. It may differ from the majority opinion but it's still valid to them ...

Just want it to be confirmed that the memory management is finally fixed and the 5.5 edge will be mine ... :)

Probably still wait a few weeks to see if I can get one cheaper though rather than launch day / week.

What's the general consensus regarding the edge devices and screen protectors?

On my regular S6, I'm using a Zagg Glass screen protector and I love it.

As much as I love the look of the 5.5 edge, I'm in a position where I feel it adds more complications regarding cases/screen protectors.

I don't think I'd be comfortable using it without a screen protector espescially in terms of resale value later on.

Spigen and a few others make 'curved' tempered screen protectors.

Something about the S7 looks "beefier" overall, and it's not just the added 1.1 millimeter of thickness. Maybe the waterproofing? It loses a tiny bit of that -- I don't know how else to put it -- "sleekness" compared to the S6. But I still think these are the right moves. From the leaked video alone, you can kind of already tell that the ergonomics of this device will be much better.

I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. Can't wait to see the Platinum silver in all its glory.

It's ugly AF to be completely honest. They took 5 steps forward aesthetically with the S6 and now this looks like a metal remake of the S3.

The waterfall edge of the display seems more pronounced on the S7 than the S6, similar in proportion to the iPhones 6/6s (NOT accusing Samsung of copying...before the Samsung 'proponents' get all in a huff ;)). Also looks like they are finally using a proper flat black for the bezel. It's definitely taking some cues from the iPhone--the aforementioned edge, black bezel and understated home button and speaker--and I think it's a good thing as I like the design cues.

You think the S6 is the best looking phone....... Seriously?

The S6 Edge and Note 5 destroy the S6 in that department (and the Sony Xperias destroy the Note 5 but not the edge). Even the second ugliest iphone in the iphone 6 is massively better looking. However as someone has already mentioned looks are subjective. With that said someone has to love the fuglies. I know that Sienna Miller is more attractive than Hillary Clinton for example. Some may prefer Hillary.

It's amusing that you think a gs6 is ugly but the note 5 is a lot better as I use both phones gs6 personal and note 5 for work and they look almost identical minus the size and the curved back that you can't even tell until you hold the phones.
