They optimized TW with the S6, N5 and Edges phones. So much so that it gets better or equal battery life as the Nexus 6P and Moto X 2015 running stock Android with larger batteries. So I think TW is optimized in that respect.

Bloat ware is present on all Android carrier phones. But then even with the extra bloat TW gets better battery life...go figure.
How does a phone with all the bloat you mentioned and a smaller battery get better battery life than stock Android phones with larger batteries? I think Samsung is getting shorted here on TW. Does it need improvement? Sure it does. But i don't think it is as bad as some would let on.

There should be even more muscle under the hood this year if the rumors are true and a more evolved and optimized TW should make the S7 a beast of a phone.

I think Samsung's better battery life than other androids has to do with their more efficient processor and display. Those two uses the most battery. I don't think their battery life has anything to do with TW good optimization.
If Sony had Samsung hardware, their phones would last a week lol.
The 810 is a pig on power, and the screen used in the 6p has shown to use 5-6% more battery than the one on the note 5.
Don't get me wrong, Samsung still deserves credit for battery life because of their efficient screens and processors. Not because of an efficient TW.

I think their storage drives are more energy efficient too. But TW has become more efficient as well. Its using less resources than previous versions. Don't get me wrong though. I think it still needs improvement.

Samsung is worlds ahead with power saving modes and software optimization one of the main reasons they are so aggressive with memory ram management is to kill things in the ram to not waste power.

Don't forget how much more power u need to run 4gb of ram

Please no Snapdragon. Rather have Exnyos' efficiency and unique architecture.

Snapdragon messed up this year because of the rush for 64 bit. I have 100% confidence the 820 will be just as good as Samsung's new processor. Either processor works for me.

Samsung knows their processors inside and out so it allows for more OEM efficiency. Apple makes their designs for the processors they order and Samsung/TSMC manufacture them according to specifications.

Leaks look intriguing, however the next gen sounds evolutionary as has been the norm for the past several years. I'm quite happy using my S6 edge+, and am more excited for Ultra HD to come to these devices so I guess I'll likely wait until that happens before upgrading again. The new version of TouchWiz sounds nice.

You have the best Samsung device right now. I think you would be fine if you're not a tech spending addict like I am!

I'm on the S6 Edge. The S7 Edge would be a nice upgrade. Don't need the sd storage.

I'm sticking with my S6. Nothing earth shattering to make me switch from what I'm seeing. Would like to see what the battery will be before deciding.

Yeah, I'm not positive even if all these rumors turn out true that the S7 is an instant buy. Will have to see exactly how big of a performance difference there is to warrant the cost. I'll be looking at software optimization, battery life gains, and finer print speed improvements.

Another thing... Now that Google seems to know how to get the nexus devices right, it makes me more excited for the nexus 5 in 2016. May resist the s7 to see that too.

To be honest, I am more interested to see what HTC has coming for the One M10, than the S7.

Be prepared for disappointment. The M10 will be just a fingerprint scanner, 820 processor, 3gb of RAM, and dual speakers again. It's ho hum.

All the talk about Samsung needing to hit another home run with the S7 would lend me to believe their in for another let down in sales based on what I'm seeing. Looks like nothing more than evolutionary upgrades, nothing new or revolutionary.

I'm still putting my faith on the earlier rumours of 5.1-inch and 6-inch variants, both with edge variants. Still, these could be good. We're seeing the curved back on this one, which wasn't present on the earlier leaks, and that's a welcome element. Also, I was hoping for that 12MP camera with a 1/2 inch sensor. Low light on that would be killer.

Same exact dimensions as the S6, but the screen will be 5.2 inches vs 5.1. Why is this? Simple. The Gear VR. The S7 and all variants will still need to fit in one of the 3 adjustment slots. What we really need though is 4k screens with 800+ PPI.

3 adjustment slots? Pretty sure there's only 2. But I see where you're coming from.

Agree. The current resolution is a massive problem at the moment with VR.
But I've got an even better idea. How about a phone with an 8K display and breakthrough GPU, but downscale the standard resolution to 1440p (with the ability to view compatible 4K content) and limit the GPU power to save battery life, so the phone experience is not affected, and when the phone is plugged into a headset with extra battery space it maximises the resolution and power, providing a killer VR experience.

If you're expecting revolutionary, those days are not here and won't happen for awhile. Instead, an upgrade that is designed for fixing the current gen problems and improving the product without a jump in pricing is fine with me.

I say why not just release a separate VR device? One that could connect to the playstore to DL all the current games and content. It wouldn't be expensive as it would not need to do all the current flagship phones do. It needs to have wireless and great processor and enough ram to run the games and of course the 4K or higher screens.

True, there is an A and a B slot for the micro USB connection point, but there is a tri-stepped rubber mount. The Note, Edge and 6 variants have different depths.

Good idea. That would be a much better approach. I look forward to the day when the Gear VR has a phone with absolute crystal clear clarity rivaling my 4K TV (when it is displaying 4K content.) Not sure if you have seen what I am talking about, but when you watch that high of a resolution, it has an almost 3d appearance.

Not realistic due to price. The Oculus Rift is a true HD VR experience and requires a tether to a gaming PC and that will cost $500. Imagine trying to keep the weight down (a real concern, trust me), plus house what equates to a PC gaming rig inside the goggles (and hope it doesn't get to hot!) That would cost a lot of money, relegating the experience to just a few niche buyers.

The Samsung Gear VR is popular because it is cheap, lightweight, ergonomically functional, but still has the Oculus backing.

I was think more along the lines of a device similar to a phone.
I mean why make phones with 4K displays just so it can be used for VR. That is such a niche market. Why make a phone with a 4K display that will only appeal to a very very small amount of the buying public. when they could make a device very similar to a phone that would be cheaper because all it would need is the 4K display and ram and processing power. So it might be in the sub $350 range.
The general smartphone buying public would benefit more from better battery life. Not a 4K display that is targeted at a small niche who would use it for VR. Anyway...just my thoughts.
