Yes! Lol, I was reminded of the T-X.
I am glad that I wasn't the only thinking the same thing as the scene unfolded. It looked so out of place that is was bordering on the absurd.
I agree also they could had shown Arya winning the battle instead on how they did it. I mean really cutting to the scene where the head is mounted on the wall is very anti-climatic.

haha, I had similar thoughts of the Terminator during that scene as well.

Thinking more about episode 8, I get why the writers can't show everything in the limited screen time they have. But I would rather that they showed the Blackfish being killed than wasting a few minutes in the Meereen joke and drinking scene. And Arya's arc in Braavos is puzzling. If she ends up as Arya Stark, why bother? How is she changed, other than being able to fight in the dark? The same applies to Jon's killing and re-animation...it's as if he never died.

The point of Arya Stark going back to Winterfell is that she now is a fully trained assassin who will easily take out Ramsay Bolton without difficulty.
So Sansa will rule Winterfell with Jon Snow and Arya Stark running the army of the north against the whitewalkers.
However, that will happen after next week.

I predict that next week, the rebel Iron Island fleet will arrive to save Meeren from the masters invasion.

Pretty epic (sorry) footrace between Arya and the Waif, even though I knew all along how it was going to end. And pretty sick burn at the end towards Jaqen.

Regarding the rest of the episode, pretty decent overall. Wish we could have seen more of the Stark action. We're missing out on Bran and Benjen. Really hoping that they'll get back to Jon and Sansa.

I'm guessing that the dragons are likely going to do that job now that Daenerys is back.

The episode summaries I've read say that she took "most" of the fleet. The scene where they are sailing away from the Iron Islands depicts maybe 100 ships or so. But it goes off into the horizon so there are potentially any number of unseen ships.

What bothered me about that scene was that if she had so many people loyal to her that she could man and steal nearly the entire Iron Fleet, then I feel the Kingsmoot would have gone differently, or at least have been contested a lot more strongly.

I agree completely... This is probably how I got the idea she only took a few in the first place. Does she have one person on each ship or something? Seems like to take the whole fleet would require full allegiance, which she obviously didn't have.

Guess it will be a perfect solution... Danny needs empty ships after all. The iron fleet will press the masters against the shore where the unsullied and the Dothtaki will butcher them, then that's Mereen solved. On to Westeros!

I'm guessing the dragons have the masters sorted.

Oh, that would be interesting. We've already seen Drogo help her, but the other two haven't really shown themselves to be under her control. Maybe that will change and all three will now be under her power.

Although that said, the "dragons saved the day" option will be increasing less satisfying every time they pull it. Worked in the fighting pits, but it can't be her only trick. I'm sure they will play a part, but hopefully they aren't the only thing that helps win the day.

I don't think Varys is aware of what's going on in Westeros at the moment. I think he was sent to the Iron Born to secure their ships. They didn't know that the iron born were going to come to them, and they needed to secure a fleet somehow.

I thought the same thing, as the episode was unfolding (i.e. that Daenerys/Drogon would show up and shift things). But right after Drogon brings Daenerys to the pyramid in Meereen, you can see him flying away in the background while the city is under siege.

Seeing his backside was an indicator to me that the dragons aren't a trump card in this particular battle. I guess he could be going to fetch the other two or something, but that doesn't quite feel right to me.

No I think he still has control over his little birds. Even though they seem to be working for Qyburn, Varys uses the phrase 'birds I can always trust'.

I don't know, it was a fairly brief part of that scene that it's unclear what was going to happen next, with the possibility that the dragon(s) would take on the attackers certainly being a good one, I guess just as the possibility of the dragon(s) just leaving somewhere (to return at some later time) as is often the case.

No, they took them all while Euron Greyjoy was being crowned. Once he found out that they took off he commanded those that remained behind to build a whole new fleet to go after them.
How quickly could a new fleet be built? Years?? Seemed strange as a logical response to be able to actually pursue them.

Will the Starks finally get a win under their belt or will the writers give us another gut wrenching turn???

I feel like if John Snow losses, then they are just sticking it to us for the sake of shock-and-awe. Early on in an Epic fantasy, sure people have to die and unexpected things happen, but all that is just supposed to be whittling things down leaving just the main characters (who we didn't necessarily know were main) so they can enter the final climax of the series (which we know is a war with the whites).

If John Snow dies for real and the Starks fall, I'm not sure where the story goes from there. Nobody else in Westeros is aware of the whites, really. IMO that would unravel a lot of the buildup from the last several years.

Me thinks the little lady and her dragons figure in ;) along with John Snow possibly being related to the Targarians. Yep he or she could die somewhere in the climax. Who knows, Tyrion unleashed the the two captive dragons from their chains and they did not roast him. Maybe he'll become the littlest dragon rider. :)

If a dedicated effort, 8 months if everyone building a boat. :)

The stills that HBO released for episode 9 are interesting, as is the synopsis: "Terms of surrender are rejected and accepted." The pics make it look bad for Jon and his army, but the surrender could be by either side. Regardless, I'd like to see Wun Wun (full name: Wun Weg Wun Dar Wun) step on Ramsay Bolton, or maybe drop kick him somewhere north of the wall.

I don't know how BOB will turn out, but I did read one major spoiler about the episode...
Yara and Theon will reach Meereen.
