I agree that is it blown out of proportion..... But I think there are more than just 9 cases of a bent iPhone 6+. I think some do not want to hurt Apple and it will not get reported or the person doing the replacement will not report it as a bent IP6+. It will just get replaced....no questions asked.

9 reported claims.... if Apple is saying this, it's true, I swear..

Guys, it could be 1,000 and it would still be 0.01% (based on reported 10 million sales over opening weekend).

Regardless of the numbers, it's all sensationalized BS at this point--great for clicks and ratings. If in 3 or 6 months we see a rash of issues, then it's relevant. The stir created by Unbox Therapy is just non-sense. Apple is front page news and we have some sort of 'gate' issue with every release.

If Apple should be criticized for screwing something up, the 8.01 release is FAR more deserving of the criticism. But it's just not as visually appealing as seeing some dufus bend a phone on YouTube.

Well too be fair this issue is a manufacturing defect. But also need to see more reports before I say it's real. If indeed the issue is real, it will be fixed before I get mine. Now the iPhone bending easily is not a manufacturing defect. It's a design defect. This won't be fixed without a redesign. It's meant to be that way by design. Which means it won't be fixed at all in the near future. That's a pretty big difference. Trying to say these two issues are the same is ignorant.

Too bad this isn't a competition...

The supposed gap is actually a business card holder, for when you are out and about networking. It makes it a lot faster to give someone your business card, not to mention you give the appearance that you are a man or woman with a drive to be successful.

That was funny! :)

The devices at bestbuy do not have this issue, Korea received a rushed shipment which could be the reason for the defect...due to the many envious fans of Apple due to there bentgate issue, they are trying to make it bigger than what it is. This device won't be in the U.S. for over 2 weeks.....

Considering there are only 9 cases of a bent iPhone and 30,000 rushed Note 4's with the "gap", I'd question which one is bigger than the other.....(I'm being facetious of course.....)

Let's face it, neither of these issues are statistically significant. But Samsung jumped on in publicly ridiculing Apple and they should expect the same treatment back.

Of course, Apple won't stoop to that level. But it doesn't mean Apple fans will be as classy.

Or maybe it's actually Samsung's answer to Apple Pay? S Pay - just slide your credit card through the slot!

Come on, you're better than this 'chica...

The Consumer Reports test shows exactly how much force is need to bend the 6+...90lbs of pressure is not insignificant and the fact that their actual scientifically based test shows it's capable of withstanding greater pressure than the 6, when Mr. Unbox Therapy claims the 6 is stronger, proves how full of %&$# he was. Nine reported claims submitted to Apple out of millions of phones further reinforces how much FUD is being slung around.

And if you really want to go that route..what do you think is more likely, my front pocket exerting 90 lbs of pressure on my iPhone 6+, or some water/dust being captured in these supposed gaps, something that is certainly possible just handling it or even with the phone just sitting the table?

Your Samsung fangirl is certainly showing here...

Regardless, this situation just as stupid. Did they actually go and check every phone in these early shipments? There are going to be manufacturing irregularities or defects found for EVERY device on the market--showing one or two examples doesn't necessarily mean it's a widespread issue. People need to find better uses of their time, IMO.

It just looked incredibly easy to break in his video. He must have money to burn. He did another bending video on the streets with another brand new iphone 6 +

someone said it was a rushed batch of 30,000 phones that got shipped in South Korea earlier on this thread....

I'll stop if you do. All this is nonsense. If you can dish it out, learn to take it.

Cracks me up how Samsung fans on here are the first to pile on a non-issue, then get all BENT out of shape when people jump on their beloved company.

Samsung and Apple are far more similar than people realize. So are their crazed fans.

Just to be clear, everything I said in that post was tongue in cheek.....none of this is statistically relevant. None of it should be newsworthy. But the publicity the bending has received combined with Samsung jumping on it means this story will blow up.

Wait...30,000 units have this gap problem? Where did you hear that? So far I've only heard of those two units in that one article.

EDIT: ah sorry you read it in a post by jamesrick80, the Samsung version our recently temp banned-again friend pedro... Actually I think that's not even what he meant.

But whatever, I was just wondering if I'd missed something. I'm not taking any of these 'gates' very seriously :)

Easy? The dude's thumbs were white.....there's no way that happens in your pocket normally.

The phone is bigger and taller than iPhone owners are used to. You can't use it the same way you used a 4S or 5S. Be smart about it and you'll have no issue.

My 6+ is still perfectly straight....no bending. Really idiotic how crazy people are getting over this.

I was speaking facetiously in any case.....it's all irrelevant. Non-issue.

This will never make the major media outlets. Why? Because Samsung users have low expectations and standards.

This. Show the world you like cheaply made, gaudy gadgets loaded with tons of poorly integrated components. Buy Samsung.

saw this article on yahoo
http://www.businessinsider.com/i-wa...o-bend-the-iphone-6-plus-pretty-easily-2014-9

wonder if all the display 6pluses will be bent by hooligans at apple stores, similar to how people would jailbreak all the display units on 4.3 with jailbreakme.com

LOL that's a bit silly... Not sure how an editor of a site that at least tries to be a respectable news source would want to publish something like that? I mean fine if they buy an iPhone to test it, but to bend it in the store and then just leave...?

edit: ah, that was just a re-published blog entry. Anyway surprising that they would re-post it. Or maybe Business Insider is more shoddy than I thought?

batch defects are much less serious than design defects

It'll get ironed out before it reaches American shores

Yeah it could go 'viral' in the wrong way like that, it becomes like a sport for morons to try and bend every unit they see... Well, let's just hope it doesn't come to that I guess. LOL sometimes humanity just feels a little bit pathetic
