Or you might want to try Saisuke for your Google Calendar needs

It also has a free version if you want to try before you buy.

Anyway, back on topic, shame about the feed names in Gazette thing, hope it gets fixed in the next update. Also looking forward ot any pics you might have of 2.0 Matt?

Sure you can, I do it everyday with entering my homework into my class already scheduled and it syncs back to google calender.

Check to ensure that you have 2-way selected under sync options fo Google Sync. Under Info tab in iTunes I have selected "Outlook" (only option) and Sync all Calenders. With this setup, I use only my iPhone and my Google Calender. Outlook is only the tunnel and is never even opened.

Let me know if you still have problems and we will try to figure it out. Are you PC or Mac user?

i use ical, i am a mac user.

Yes - this will be fixed in 2.0! Stay tuned. I will start seeking Beta testers soon.

Hi just got Gazette and am loving it so far, great little app.

I came over from Byline as it was a bit clunky and I started to really hate that wood look lol.

Got one minor problem though - my feeds don't seem to be taking their name from my Google feed names, for example my appshopper.com feed....

On my Google Reader account I renamed it to App Store

But on Gazette it appears as AppShopper.com: New Apps, Version Changes and Price Changes

Bit of a pain as I've got a few feeds like that and it looks a bit ugly.

Is it something I'm doing wrong or a limitation of Gazette?

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the reply, great to hear that you've fixed that!

If I can help out by being a beta tester I'd love to, if not then I really look forward to 2.0 anyway - keep up the good work!!

I would beta test also! I think of y self as someone that has good ideas and can trouble shoot about anything. I also enjoy long walks on the beach! Opps wrong forum!:D

Same here, Gazette is great! That and Shovel are the only 3rd party apps I have put on my main screen.
The holy grail (I hope can be done?) is implementing the push notifications whenever Apple comes thru with that.....

Just an update on the progress of Gazette 2.0:

It's coming along really nicely and should be out in around mid-January.

Some notable changes:

- New UI
- Support for syncing huge amounts of articles
- Rewritten networking engine
- Ability to email articles without exiting the app
- Ability to mark an entire folder as 'read'
- Over 100% faster syncing
- 50% lesser memory usage

Here's my question...is this going to be a free update or must be repurchased?

I sent you an email regarding Beta testing. Please let me know if not recieved.

Can't wait for the update!!!
Gary

I only need 2-3 testers so picking will be hard. Are any of you in any private beta programs?

I took switched!

So as of last night I was a NetNewsWire user but have fully switched to Gazette! I like the icon a lot better since it is on the first page. I would like to see a few things and most of them have been talked about here previously I just wanted to add my 3 cents.

First (as mentioned previously) I changed the names of all my feeds in Google Reader but they do not show with that name in Gazette - I don't know how this works but if possible that would be a great feature as most feeds have a long title that can not be seen in Gazette - at least there should be a way to change the name on the iPhone.

Also I would like to be ale to click links in a feed - such as an itunes link in the text body of a post - So that I can be transfered to the App store (This was possible in NetNewsWire) or be transfered to the page within the app (edit: many links do work within the reader but not to the external App Store)

((((Lastly I think it necessary to be able to pinch in and out in a feed as some of the feeds are not readable on the iphone screen and there is a need to double tap or zoom in. ))))(edit : this seems to work in most instances - I just had a few that would not, Sorry)

Landscape viewing would also be a plus - but I don't feel it to be as high on the list - unless maybe when rotated to landscape the top and bottom toolbars went away.:)

Those are the first few thing that I thought stood out, but that is just my 3 cents so please this is not meant to be mean or anything cause I prefer Gazette - and think gazette has potential to be the best Reader on the iPhone (if not already)

And I would love to be in the beta I am currently doing a beta with Bookshelf.

Don't quote me but I think he told me that it would come in February! Lets hope it isn't another Need For Speed Deal!! J/K - As long as it is quality I don't care if it take a bit longer!!

February? :(

Better look around again then

I don't want to put Matt on the spot so I will try not too. All I was saying was that I was told (not on this thread) it would be out 'sometime in February' he may have just been over shooting it for me since I did not currently have Gazette at the time. And like I said if it is going to take a bit longer than expected I would prefer it - rather than having possible bugs in the update.
