Looking like my intermittent charging issue is back. Flipped my charger and cable over and rebooted my phone.

Starting to think this may be hardware after all. The reasoning is how some people had issues trying to root when it was required to flash the patched boot image and it failed for me and many other people.

Still not sure what is going on.

Doubt it's a rogue app because the battery will last a few days at times especially in standby. The battery drains pretty normally to be. It's getting it to charge at times that is the problem.

Maybe I expect too much from my devices? Pretty much every Google branded phone I have gotten has some kind of issue. Some are minor quirks others are just annoying and irksome like this intermittent charging stuff.
[doublepost=1516638406][/doublepost]A reboot did not work. Spent close to 45 minutes messing around with the thing to get to to charge from 13% to 15% then after a quick reboot, this time into safe mode to try again (there goes my settings, this is why I did not put much stuff on yet, like instagram) after the reboot into safe mode, the battery dropped from 15% to 12% in an instant.

Now its actually fast charging but in safe mode. about 90 min to fully charge, wait nope, just checked and now its reading 3 hours from 17%

I am going to contact google....:(

Edit:
Advanced RMA in progress :( :(

As a long time iPhone user I’ve decided to swap to a Pixel 2 XL Panda tonight. I’m going on an Apple detox haha.

My iPhone X is currently on eBay. So many times I’ve got an android phone to try but because I’ve always got an iPhone close by I usually end up just sticking my sim back in my iPhone. So I’ve decided to totally sell the it this time.

I’ve used android a few times and had a brief stint with a Nexus 4.

Hopefully it lasts and I’ll stick around :)

I sold my Apple Watch already and I really miss it though. What’s a good android wear watch to get? Seems to be rare to get one with NFC and I like playing for stuff with Apple Pay on my watch.

LG Watch Sport is about 250-300 on Amazon .

I have red and it plays in the background on my pixel. in fact, when I hit the home button while in youtube, it does picture in picture with the YT video on my home screen. even if I close that window, the video controls show up in my notification bar and I can control play/pause there. But maybe that's a pixel exclusive feature? I doubt it.

Still cant get it to work on iOS but just realized on Android it started working which is cool. Thanks.

Wow, that's a brave move!

Although probably the best one. If you don't have the X around to be able to pick up and hold then you might have some success with it. I think that's what I'd need to do.

I still have my X, can't seem to get rid of it. My Pixel 2 is just kinda sat next to it and I flit between them to use either or. It is NOT ideal haha.

The only way I knew how to do this on IOS was by using YouTube within a browser. But that functionality ended a while ago.

Maybe those on Android can use this method as a workaround?

Not true. I do background/screen off Youtube playing on iOS with Dolphin Browser, Opera Mini, and Cheetah Browser.

We can’t get YouTube red in the U

I'm using the pixel now and I feel a bit unsure about my decision but it's all new and hopefully I'll get used to it.

If not for my eyes having issues with the pwm on OLED I think I could probably make the move to my Pixel 2. I’m even texting on Snowball more now with family who are used to me texting to them from either an Android or an iPhone. I haven’t given out my Android number to other people yet.

So basically I’m using iPhone for the big LCD display. My 8plus display is a beauty to me.

The iPhone cameras are kind of sad compared to the one on my Pixel 2. Apple should be better than this. It’s very upsetting to me that they’re actually quite dreadful. The handling of ambient light by an iPhone camera is noticeably inferior. They’ve set the software to heavily impose a flattening effect on lighting. It’s hard to describe verbally. But the core issue goes back to the tendency to blow out highlights.

I still like iOS very much even though I think Apple has degraded the experience a little. There are some bugs plaguing any iphone in the house that wasn’t bought in the last couple of months and that’s upsetting.

I’m getting along quite well with Oreo. I’m just not heavily delving into it like I was planning to because I’ve been busy catching up on work I let pile up when I was sick. But it’s been dependable when I needed it to be. And very charming. I finally got to see the weather frog everyone raves about.

I use the squeeze feature and the command of “Lumos” and “Nox” for the flashlight almost daily. It’s amusing and works well though there’s a bit of a lag doing it that way.

So far my complaint of Snowball vs my iPhone 8 Plus is that it gets hot recording long 4K video clips when the iPhone does not.

For my use cases the two phones are very comparable. However my needs are very simple compared to those of you using them through a workday at your jobs. A stay at home mom isn’t having to ensure the phone works with office restrictions and other things I’ve heard people discuss that I don’t have to worry about.

Whats throwing you off?

Funny, because whenever I pick up an iPhone, I seriously want to throw it out the window. Just the other day I was trying to show a friend the benefits of their X's front facing camera compared the 8/+ and it was just a mess. Death by demo

Samsung Gear S3. Amazing smartwatch and you can pay for stuff with Samsung Pay on the watch!

Whoa, a bunch of alerts and notifications just came in on my Pixel 2 telling me about the two hour delay in school openings and then the change to closed for a snow day. The problem is...that all happened one week ago. It was from an app the school uses to send out notifications to parents. I got those on my iPhone when hey were sent out. However I didn’t bother to check my Pixel 2 since I got them on the iPhone and just assumed my Pixel had gotten notifications, too.

The same thing happened on my Samsung so it’s not just a Pixel 2 thing. Android dumps notifications in a heap, for some reason. My husband said it’s happened to him, too.

Got my free Google Home Mini from Carphone Warehouse on Friday, swiftly sold it Saturday morning. This is after being told I wasn't getting one because they ran out, ordered my Pixel on the 14th Dec.

I gave up on glass screen protectors on this thing. Tried a few and no luck. Luckily they were cheap on amazon. They had decent reviews so I was hopeful. Back to plastic I go.

Nothing specific I guess it's just being used to iOS. I am determined to stick with it though

I can give one big piece of advice since I am constantly drawn back to iOS when I try Android. I am getting better at sticking to Android. I stayed with a Galaxy S8 Plus for 5 months last year and have a Pixel 2 now.

Use the Samsung Internet Browser - it is the closest browser to the look, feel, and speed of safari on iOS. You can also sync your bookmarks easily. Chrome was just too clunky for me on Android.

Once again not getting notifications for hang outs messages. Other devices are.

Guess it doesn't matter since the thing is going back :(

Anyone else having issues with Hangouts on their pixels? I'm fairly sure I'm not blocking notifications

I did go in and toggle the notification switch, so far that may have done the trick.

Do you get them eventually in a big heap or just not at all? I’m waiting for the school to send out messages and announcements on the education centered social media app they are experimenting with. The notifications for those come to my iPhone individually as the announcements are posted. But on my Pixel they apparently aggregate and arrive in one heap a week later. I am trying to dive into settings to see what can be done about that.

Just one at a time like normal. But normally I know I have a Hangouts message since I often carry 2 devices

I wonder what’s going on with your Hangouts notifications.

For my own situation, I checked every setting I could and don’t see anything that could account for the clumped up release of notifications. It clumped up on my S8+, too. I’ll have to keep an eye on things awhile. I know that on Android the notifications for each app stay together, which is nice. But I should not be getting notifications for stuff that came in a week ago looking as though they just came in today. I’m either forgetting to clear them and they’re queuing up with notifications that did come in today, or they actually are delayed somehow. I’m going to assume user error on my part and be more vigilant about monitoring my notifications on all three phones for awhile. I have a sim in just the Pixel and the iPhone right now but keep my S8+ charged and ready to use at all times.

Not Hangouts, no. But I had the same thing with Facebook notifications on my Pixel.
They were coming through on everything else but not the Pixel.

It fixed itself, but I couldn't tell you how. They just suddenly started appearing...

Wish I could offer more advice? Have you tried deleting the app and reinstalling? I did that with FB and it didn't help originally...

Seconded.

Although on the broader subject of being unable to stick with Android: maybe you just like iOS better?

Still waiting for the shipping confirmation for my replacement pixel. Has an ETA of Thursday or Friday. As soon as I get the replacement, or the day before I'll unroot and flash the factory boot image then proceed to factory reset, box the thing up and hopefully get the device on it's way back to Google by Friday.

A side note, I ran my s7e down to 12% and it charged pretty rapidly compared to this pixel

Update edit: warranty replacement has shipped. I'm guessing a refurb?

I keep seeing posts here about people going back to iOS, and that is fine, nothing wrong with doing so ;) those who are going back to iPhone, did you start with an iOS device before you tried Android or did you just say the heck with Android and try iOS for something different?

Just wondering. I've tried to get into iOS with my iPad mini 3 and the thing just seems backwards to me and completely counterintuitive
