Still loving my Pixel 4 XL, smooth and has a nice minimal OS and looks good.

I know it's not fancy or doesn't have all the bells and whistles and has lesser specs then it should. But I still like this phone a lot. If it had 8GM RAM, a 4,300mAh battery, and a brighter screen, it'd be the best phone ever.

The battery thing puzzles me. Don't most people have jobs and in these jobs are limited to how much they can use their phone?

My phone sits in my car for 9 hours a day as they pose a flammable/explosion risk in my work place. Even if I spent the rest of my day on my phone (really who does this) I'm never gonna run the battery to zero. My wife is a nurse so again, the phone sits in her locker for 12 hours a day and she doesn't bury herself in it when home.

I don't know anyone that's encouraged/allowed to use a phone whilst in work. Surely these "tech reviewers" that slam poor battery life are in the minority and as such instead of slamming battery life should perhaps tell people that in 95% of use cases, the Pixel 4 XL battery will last a full days use.

well speaking from my experience, I can’t have my phone in work either. But I’ve owned every Pixel and the 2, 3 AND 4 all have idle battery drain by just being sat untouched all day.

my phone can be at 100% at the start of the day, I can look at it twice throughout the day for five minutes a time, and by 5:30pm it’s on 69%.
It has always been a problem with the Pixels (smaller models).

Given that the majority of Pixel owners' biggest complaint is the battery, I'd say 95% is an exaggerated number.

If Samsung, Apple, Huawei, Oneplus etc can equip their phones with huge batteries and get close to 10 hours sot, there's no reason why Google can't. The 3a XL had superb battery life, but they took a step back with the 4. Especially with the smaller size.

And the majority of pixel users are like us nerds that browse tech forums to voice their opinions?

Who's complaining? Actual users or people that watched initial review videos?

To use a mobile phone this much in 1 day is unhealthy.

You seem a little obsessed with what YouTube videos say. I'm talking about owners. Quite easy to sail through the day with most a lot of battery left is you don't use it.

A lot of people can use their phone during work, especially during breaks. And what about after work, weekends or when away and taking lots of pictures?

I'm not saying the XL can't make it through a day, but it can be a struggle. If I was on holiday and out & about for the day taking pics on my phone, I'd have to make sure I took a portable charger for peace of mind.

So again, one of the biggest complaints of Pixel owners is that they should have better battery life.

Obsessed? I mention initial reviews and post 1 video and am obsessed?
You referred to the tech reviewers (these are on YouTube) , dismissing their comments on battery. Then posted a battery rundown video.

Obsessed probably wasn't the right word. But you're failing to acknowledge that owners of Pixels want better battery life, not just reviewers.

Where is your proof that the majority of pixel owners need more battery life?

What am I ignoring? Your opinion?

Where is the evidence that supports your claim that not everybody has their phone locked away for a lot of the day?
[automerge]1587638977[/automerge]
I can guarantee that the vast majority of responsible employers will forbid the use of personal mobile phones whilst in work, therefore most phones will go unused for a huge part of the day.

Dude...read this Pixel thread...the overwhelming majority wants more battery life on their Pixels. Read what people have posted about what they want in the next Pixel...always more battery life. That scenario has been going on since the first Pixel.

This is wrong and there's no evidence to support this. Just because the industry or business you work at doesn't require or involve using your phone throughout the day doesn't mean others don't. Im an engineer and I routinely have 5 hours or so screen on time on my phone throughout the day. Some of that being during the work day and a lot of it being in the morning or at night after work.

You are speaking in a ton of generalities that you made up.

Do you have 64gb or 128gb & what colour?

Looking at a black 64gb for £520, white (preferred colour) 64gb for £560 and black 128gb for £650. All new.

So you need more battery life?

5 minutes reading this thread will tell you its more of a want than a need.

Though i did read a comment that someones battery was dead in 3 hours? o_O
Lol...so now you are telling people what they WANT...they don't need? Just stop now.....

I work 8 hours per day and use my phone probably 4-6 hours. I surf on my breaks or use it when I get texts/emails plus I stream music/podcasts/audio books etc. so yes battery is important and the smaller sized pixels required mid-day top offs for me. Not ideal. My iPhone is at 60% at bedtime with the same usage.

Yes, part of the reason I returned the phone was because the battery life wasnt good enough to consistently get through a full day. If you spend 5 minutes reading the thread, you will see that I've already mentioned as much in this thread.

So I'm to take you as an example of "all pixel owners".

I did read you'd returned it btw. Long long ago.

If someone wants a phone that'll get them 10 hour use then fair dos. If someone needs a phone to last them 10 hours then that's different.

Needs and wants are 2 totally different things and you can't see this.

No, you dont get it. You are presuming to know what people wants vs need. What makes you the decider of this?

Ignoring all the tech reviews the criticize battery life, go look at the reviews on Amazon for the Pixel 4. I think its safe to say that all those people arent tech reviewers and are more your average joe type consumer. Read through the reviews and tell me what the most common criticism is in those reviews. I'll give you a hint...its battery life.

Back on topic....

I really like the rumors that the Pixel 5 is going to use a mid-range processor. The biggest issues with the last Pixel are batteyr life and cost. The midrange SOC has an onboard modem, which will save space. So hopefully this means Google add a larger battery, lower price since the SOC costs them less, and make small improvements everywhere else like RAM size and speed, camera, etc.
