I am very impressed with the ultrawide capabilities for iPhone 11. I wish Google would have went that route with Pixel 4 rather than telephoto. I can only think of one situation that I wished I had a telephoto lens, but I wish for ultrawide every day.

Gotta say, while nothing too exciting, the iPhone cameras do look impressive and if the battery claims are true, it should be back on par with the Android leaders. If they drop the price $50 like they did with the regular 11 and up the base storage, I may be interested. I just dont trust that Pixel 4 battery.

Well it's hasn't yet been established for 100% certain what the Pixel cameras will be capable of. Lots of implied stuff but I don't think Google has confirmed much of it.

From what can be determined there are two rear sensors, one of them being a 12MP camera with phase-detect auto-focus and the other a 16MP telephoto lens. The front camera will be a wide-angle lens. Software may allow a lot of stuff in between or in addition to. There's still a few weeks to go.

The invite should be going out very soon for Pixel 4 event. The date in this image from evleaks is October 15.

Not much of an iPhone fan, but wow, these new Pro phones will supposedly have insane great battery life. 4+ hours longer than the XS, and 5 hours longer than the XS Max respectively, and finally a fast charger included in the box.

To me battery life has always been one of the most important factors in a smartphone. Because a phone with no battery % left, is just a brick then.

Kicker is, it still runs iOS, yuck :( I'd be way more impressed if they finally revised iOS, than the phone itself.

The wide angle on the iPhone 11 isn't as wide on the S10/Note 10. Not a massive difference (3 degrees) but still noticeable when I compared the S10 to the P30 Pro with the same degree.

I do really hope we get a wide on the Pixel, it's my most missed feature from my previous 2 phones.

Lends credence to the claim Apple had planned for reverse charging with this year's "pro" models but somewhat recently decided it wasn't yet ready to roll.

Well having night mode and wide angle on the new iPhones is VERY tempting I will admit as is the Watch series 5 with its AoD (why can't they do an AoD with the iPhone too though?)....but I dunno I think I'm fine at least waiting for the Pixel even now as there isn't anything on those that really makes me want them other than being able to get the new color before it sells out for the next few months.

Here's hoping the Pixel 4 is worth the wait!!

I'm starting to lean towards the new Pro Max. Only because I know the iPhone prices wont drop so I think I'll use it until early 2020 and if I'm missing android the Pixel 4 XL prices will have dropped $200-300 and the iPhone will only have depreciated a small amount.

I think the iPhone Pro is nice..and exactly what I expected it to be. It’s not enough to have me upgrade from my XS Max.

I’m also reserving judgement on the Pixel 4. An extra lens is nice but if current rumors hold true, unless it sees a pretty significant improvement in batter performance, I doubt I will trade up from my 3XL.

Agree that if you have an XS Max or even an X, this isn't worth the money to upgrade. But if you're in the market for a new phon, dont have an X or XS, and can stomach the price, it should be one of the 2 or 3 best phones available along with the Pixel and Note.

I have an iPhone 7 Plus. The iPhone 11 is interesting, but I’m also considering the 4a or whatever...

Same here. I am a pixel fan and the 5S is the only iPhone I have ever owned.

Although I am excited about the Pixel 4, the iPhone 11 Pro is impressive with its 3 cameras and 4 hour long battery life than the Xs. The battery improvements will be a kick in the teeth for Samsung and Google.

Although the pixel 4 will also have three cameras, camera software is no longer a big selling point as it was in 2018. Pretty much all flagships take decent photos.

This morning I made a request to sell my 64gb pixel 3 XL through musical magpie. I bought it used last year in May. WiFi and Bluetooth are no longer stellar and a new battery will be due in the next 12 months.

It's too much of a good opportunity to buy a new phone as the new iPhone 11 has been unveiled, pixel 4 around the corner and ebay is being flooded with s10 plus and note 10 for tasty prices.

I am extremely open minded and would like the pixel 4 to be awesome as I like stock android. However the iPhone 11 Pro is currently a front runner for me.

Good post, and I agree the iPhone 11 Pro Max seems like a great phone, but one think holding me back, iOS. That Operating System sucks, feels like something from 10 years ago.

Yep definitely a crazy good time for phone enthusiasts in general. I'm considering saving some cash and getting a used iPhone, I mean I'd LOVE to get the green 11 Pro but I can get a pristine used X for €500 without honestly feeling that I'd be missing out on a ton of new functionality. Meanwhile there are so many interesting Android choices in all price categories, including more experimental stuff like the Galaxy A80. There certainly isn't a shortage of choices.

I wouldn't get the X. It doesn't ha e computational photography. Images shot on it looks two generations behind. Not worth 500 eruos IMO. You are better off buying a Xr which is going to fall in price.

Thanks but small size and OLED are more important for me, also I'd probably be happy enough with the camera given that I'm coming from a 7 Plus :p

Computritonal photography is game changing though. No photo is ever under or ever exposed. Just snap and don't worry about having to l edit photos. Every photo looks great.

I'm in the same boat. Currently the iPhone 11 Pro max is the front runner for me. I hate the price and Intel modem but everything else looks great. Im much more down the middle in terms of iOS vs Android. While there are a lot of things I like about Android, I do miss the app quality and polish of iOS. When it comes to my Android phones app quality vs the ones on my iPad, there's just a noticeable difference.

Still, I'm hoping the Pixel 4 wows me. I don't mind the look of the leaked hardware but the hole motion sense stuff seems a bit gimmicky to me. But my biggest reservation is still battery life. If apple rreally did extend screen on time by several hours (no way they extended it by 5), then I could see the Pixel really struggling to compete with that small battery and 90hz screen.

Regarding app quality I have an iPhone 8 as a work phone but haven't noticed any difference between android and ios versions of popular apps.

However if you download games or AR type apps then there might be a difference for obvious reasons.

I hope that the Pixel 4 will have upgraded camera hardware and a telephoto lens. After all, I rather pay £800ish for a flagship android phone with 128GB memory then pay £1,049-1,149 for a 64GB 11 Pro.

However the Pixel 4 need to have sick cameras and 4K 60fps video recording to away me. Iphones are more expensive but they also retain their value better.

If I buy the Pixel 4, it would be used or 2-3 months after launch when prices usually drop.
