So happy that Apple has stepped up their camera game. I specifically use a Pixel only for events that i know we will be taking a lot of pictures.

My Pro Max will be here Friday and excited to do some comparison testing to see if i can ditch the Pixel for now and go back to 2 phones (iOS and Android) instead of the 3 i have (Pixel, iPhone, OP7).

Please keep us posted! I'd love to be permanent on an iPhone, but the camera is important to me.

You and me both as its my dominant use for my phone outside of the texting/calling of course :)

I definitely will but excited considering how good the early feedback is.

From the Verge review on the iPhone cameras:

“So the iPhone 11 camera does better in bright light than the Pixel 3 and Note 10, and Night mode beats the Pixel 3 more often than not. If the deep fusion update improves medium-to-low light performance as much as Apple says it will, the iPhone 11 will take better photos than the competition in every lighting situation.”

I love this as it drives competition and I have a feeling the Pixel is going to be crazy this year. Good to see Apple back at the top with the cameras meaning the others will continue to get better.

Competition is good. :)

So the iPhone 11 Pro camera is the "best" as of right now, September 2019.

Come October 15th, might be a different story.
We’ll have to see. However I have a feeling that the iPhone this year is going to really be on top.

I’m going to guess that each will excel in some specific areas. As a user of both iPhones and Pixels, I’m just happy we’re seeing improvements everywhere. :D

I would agree. After the dust settles both the iPhone 11 Pro and Pixel 4 will be top #1 cameras.

Pixel 4 probably best in Portrait still pics, and 11 Pro best in video and other things.

I doubt we see a clear winner blowing the other away

One thing seems certain at this point, though. No matter how good Pixel 4's camera is, it won't have an ultra-wide option, and I'm very disappointed about that. :(

This was the main reason I just went ahead and got the note 10. Had a pixel 3aXL all summer, but after having a ultrawide on my s10+ there was no going back.

The pictures you can take are amazing, and no software can compensate for this hardware decision.

Anyone that's looking to get a Pixel 4, what colour would you choose from the black, white & coral we've seen?

I have to say I'm very impressed with Apple increasing the battery size this year compared to last year's phones by 25% to 30%.

Google should have done the same thing and given us like a 4,400mAh battery in the Pixel 4 XL. Not the weak 3,700mAh we're getting.

To me battery life is easily one of the top features on a smartphone a phone does you know good if it's just a dead brick with no power.

The white one for sure.

I presently have a white 3XL and have almost always chosen black for my phones in the past so if I buy the 4XL, I’d go for the coral/orange. That being said, considering what we’ve seen so far, don’t think I’ll be upgrading—too many compromises vs. current competition and not enough worthwhile upgrades vs. the 3XL.

Agreed—as excited as I am about the camera improvements, I’m most surprised about Apple’s about-face on adding a ton more battery and actually adding thickness to the phone. The XS Max has much better battery performance than the Pixel 3XL with a much smaller battery. With iOS’s traditionally much better optimization, I can’t imagine how much better the 11 Pro Max will be over the Pixel 4XL and it’s smaller battery.

I'll probably go for whichever color is actually available in the storage and screen size I'm after. I think the pumpkin spice pixel is going to be hard to get

I know off topic from the Pixel 4, but I love Marques videos, and he tells it like it is;

Went ahead and watched the video. Why not? I'm not an apple fan but tech is tech. On a whim I pulled up the pricing on the max, maxed out (I think) it came to about 1500 bucks! Ouch! Well, the note 10+ is a few hundred less then that.

Phones are expensive! Anyway, I have had transient thoughts on an iPhone but I find iOS very unintuitive and backwards, even more so then trying Linux (which often makes me want to pull my hair out!).

Where is that blasted pixel 4? I keep rubber necking other phones!
