The camera performance is undoubtedly excellent as it’s been the past few years but is there any other part of the Pixel 4 that’s compelling to anyone?
I’m probably in the minority here but I couldn’t care less about the camera. For my use they’re all good at this point. That said, the appeal to me of the Pixel will always be the fast updates and stock Android experience. So I’m definitely interested in this, but I want to see the full specs first, I do like how there’s no notch though.

Think I’ll pre order to give it a go. It’s cheaper than last year, so rumours were way off. And a free chrome book in the UK. Probably get black as I have white now.

Exactly the same price in the US as last year’s offerings. If I considering one at all, I’ll be waiting a month or two when we’ll see $150-200 discount offers.

I am interested in the advancements they can and will make toward astral photography. My husband and I try what we can with that and so far for me the best results I’ve gotten was with the S9, S10, and Note 10+ so far.

Soli swiping will be interesting to me due to working in the garden and kitchen and not always having clean hands.

Okay looks like in preorders you can get the orange phone in 128GB. Eye watering prices, though. Up to $400 trade in value but I would have to sign in to see what the values are for which phones and I don’t want to accidentally pre order.

I want the orange phone, but if it’s limited edition and I have to get it now to get it at all that would suck. I don’t want to rush myself on a Pixel purchase. Good thing I like the white one, too.

Just ordered Orange Pixel 4 128Gb. Saw Oct 21 ship date but by the time I put my details in it had slipped to Oct 23-25. Im excited. I have been looking for a phone with a bigger screen for a while. One thing Im not so happy with is the piss poor trade in on Pixel 2, I would like to think manufacturers would bump the trades their own phones to get people to upgrade but maybe not. Ill try selling it and if I can get more I will.

Orange only in 64gb :| (for Aus market?), Though the AU$1199 with the smaller 5.7" 128gb seems alright to me, sale will make it a good buy. But going to have to pass nothing jumped out for me.

Bit worried about the panel in the smaller phone as they were only talking about the XL which got rated highly.

Wow, Annie Leibovitz is quite inarticulate. Perhaps she’s nervous?
She was woefully unprepared and the woman interviewing her was absolutely no help. That’s why I’m tired of these amateur hour keynotes and would welcome professional presenters. It would not compromise the authenticity for me. I can’t stand these nervous monotones and awkward pauses for audience feedback that never comes.

Maybe it is a international thing but I was able to get the Orange in 128Gb on the regular 4.

We don’t get the Orange in 128gb here in the UK.

I hesitated and all dates slipped from Oct 21st to Oct 28th. I took this as a sign to hold off. I’ll see what people think of the battery life.

Surprised they barely touch on face unlock. And whether it would work straight away with banking apps.

I’m gonna wait for reviews on bugs and battery life and revisit around Black Friday or later. Nothing game changing or particularly exciting here. Still have major questions surrounding battery life, especially in the smaller version. I’m not interested in the 4 (only the 4XL) but I can’t see how battery life is going to be anything but bad on a 90hz screen with only a 2800 mah battery.

In terms of phones this year, I think the Note + probably takes the cake. Especially at its current price.

Got my pre-order in...
Clearly White Pixel 4 XL 64GB

in my eyes the Pixel 4 is the most technologically advanced smartphone on the market.....

First, I’m genuinely just starting a quick discussion around you’re latter point...not trolling or necessarily disagreeing (though maybe I am ;)) but would love to hear why you think the Pixel is the most advanced.

I would say they are from a machine learning standpoint.

All in all I think this just reinforces that smartphones have plateaued and will all be pretty similar until the next big thing comes along.

I dunno, it's missing an ultra wide camera, you cannot recreate that with software. The video is also 4k30, and if past experience is anything to go by it will be pretty mediocre. Probably why nothing was mentioned in the keynote. The battery on the normal size is also 2,800mAh which is going to be interesting.

I’m probably one of the few people who were actually excited to hear about a Google Wifi update. ?

I’ve been quite happy with my first gen Google Wifi setup but am keenly waiting on meaningful mesh systems with Wifi 6. If this second gen system has Wifi 6, I’ll be considering an update to the new Nest model.

And to answer my own question, based on the specs page, not wifi 6. :(

Don’t disagree, especially in regards to camera performance. But outside of the camera, I can take advantage of just about all of those benefits with another Android phone and in some cases, an iPhone. The Google Assistant and all of their services that benefit from their advances in machine learning aren’t limited to the Pixel.

Did you watch the presentation? Did you see the tech involved? Did you see the the Soli implementation? Can you imagine the the use cases? Did you see the new Face Unlock? IMHO it is better than what is on my 11 pro max. Did you see the camera section?
Did you see the Google Assistant portion? That alone should suffice....then best digital assistant on a smartphone. Then throw in the Google AI and machine learning.

Then to add on top of all that it is a device designed to run with all that tech baked into the phone.
Then is is running stock Android with all of the customization one could make to make their use cases and workflows work better for them.....

Also, nothing new today in regards to Chromecast, Android TV, or WearOS. More aspects of the Google ecosystem just dying on the vine....

The 128 GB Orange is sold out and wait listed. That is not surprising. It looks very cool!

I use cases and they make gorgeous coral cases, so if I can’t get the orange phone around the time these phones go on sale, I will just get the coral case and put it on a panda White. That will do.

I signed in to see trade in values for both my Pixel 2 and my Pixel 3XL and they are abysmal. The 3XL is really stinky. So I will definitely be waiting for a sale.

I’m keenly interested in the buds. I can see myself going for buds and a panda 4 or 4XL in the spring.

Enjoy your pre orders, folks! Be my guinea pigs! I can’t wait for you guys to get delivery at the end of this month. It’s going to be exciting.

This is totally unrelated but my emails are so badly borked on my iOS devices. iOS is so badly bugged right now I wouldn’t let my dad update his phone when he was here the other day. If I didn’t have my Samsung, I would have a real problem, as I would have missed an important time sensitive email from another mom. This is not the first time rocking both platforms have saved my bacon. So folks who judge me for rocking two or three phones...please just eat a cookie and chill.

But they work better and more seamless on a Pixel
