I’ve been going back and forth between the S10 and Pixel 4. I was getting wrapped up in the comments saying that the battery wasnt going to be enough and this wasnt the Google phone to get. After seeing some of the pictures of the front of the Pixel today and seeing it in its final form, im sold. I can only hope that Google offers a decent trade in for my Pixel 2 and ill pull the trigger.

edit to add: I have never missed a ultra wide angle lens on my phone since having my Pixel 2. If anything I always wanted a lens that wasnt so wide so that I didnt have to zoom and kill the quality of the picture. I think the regular pixel lens will be complimented nicely by the telephoto lens.
I suppose if you like what you see well enough you can get a battery case for those high use days. I find I use the ultra wide lens a lot. I shoot a lot of photos at family gatherings and I’m so excited now how much more of the people I can fit gracefully into one shot. But in low light, the edge quality does suffer quite a bit so the people at the edges do look less clear. This is with both my 11 Pro and Note 10+.

If ultra wide isn’t important to you then skipping it this year is fine because all the phones will probably have a better version of it next year. If they can’t quite improve the lenses then probably the software.

It's odd how they make the "special color" only available in small storage. I don't understand the logic behind that one.

I'd love to be a fly on a wall when these decisions are made. "Lot's of buzz around the new color, we should limit the storage on that one!" "Everyone knows and likes the two tone of the Pixels, let's remove that!" "It seems most people prefer an ultra wide zoom, so let's do the telephoto!" "Customers didn't seem to mind the trade-off of a thicker and heavier iPhone because of the improved battery life, so let's not do that!"

At this point, I'm hoping they leave the free cloud backup at full resolution.

2000 post and a member since 2007. Probably 90% the first 6 years. Who knows. Look, I'm not trying to set myself up one high horse. I'm just exclaiming what I see and come to realize.

The reality is I see a terrible addiction. I see it everywhere. I travel often with my job and all you see are people staring at their phones. Constantly. You go to restaurants and families are not talking and interacting. Everyone is absorbed into their own world and concerned about such trivial things in life. This absorption into being constantly entertained is really ****ing people up. And I work in technology... Lol

I found this within myself and it made me sick. It is detrimental to relationships and communication skills. My point is it really is a problem. This idea of being in constant connection to the internet, our social media, the desire for the latest and greatest, how amazing the camera zoom is, how much recognition and likes we get. This sick programming of being obsessed with oneself. I would suggest others attempt to analyze these attributes within themselves but I am fully aware I'm preaching to the wrong choir. I'm pretty sure most of you don't give a ****. But maybe a few do.

Give it a try sometime you might find out you really like it. Force yourself to leave you phone off. Force yourself to leave it at home. You will find yourself constantly checking you pocket or purse. You will feel disconnected at first but within a small amount of time you will feel relief and satisfaction.

No matter how hard we try these devices will not make you happy. The proof is that we crave for the newest and greatest and when we get it soon the novelty wears off quickly; we are in the same state we were before. Empty and searching for the next temporary high. We carry around multiple devices thinking this will make us happier but there is no real satisfaction in this.

Go out help other's. Volunteer and serve the poor. Join the boys and girls club. Give to those less fortunate. Donate to a family who can barely feed their children instead of buying another $1000 device that does the same exact thing your current device. It does not matter if you are religious / spiritual or not. Help other people and you will find a happiness and joy that nothing can compare.

I'm changing my life and I'm not going to worship the newest piece of technology anymore. I'm sick of it. I'm sick of the emptiness that is the foundation of this addiction. This is my life, I don't know yours, but I do suggest you self analyze and think what truly is important in this life. And if you do disconnect a bit you will find the battery life of the pixel more than adequate. Had to work it in somehow. God bless and good luck. Please, help the less fortunate. There is no greater joy.

Valid points but you’re painting with a mighty broad brush. You don’t know anything about anyone here. I love using an Android phone and iPhone at the same time, so what.

Some people actually do use their phones for work. You know, like sending emails, faxes, calls, PDFs. My office phone system can be managed solely through my VOIP software when I’m out of town. I like having a large battery in my phones, never know when I’ll need it.

Bless your heart. Now kindly GTFO of here and let us enjoy the Pixel 4 launch.

I’ll go off prices when it’s announced and everything in the box is confirmed. If they only have orange in 64gb, I’d be surprised. And annoyed. lol

OK Google, I'm here! Excited for this one. I know we've seen it leaked to high heaven but this is 90% going to be my next phone.

Fingers crossed Google deliver the goods.

You forgot:

“People love 4K and the iPhone 11 non-pro even has a front facing camera capable of 4K/60. Let’s give them 1080p!”

Sounds like price and lack of earbud leaks were wrong. Thats a good start. Now Google needs to deliver a flagship device with industry leading cameras, respectable battery life, and some Pixel specific features like call screen.

I’m watching the event. I want to try those pixel Buds. The colors look tasty. But won’t be available until Spring. That’s fine. That’s when I would look at the Pixel phone as well.

Oy...long lecture on sustainability from woman who speaks in a monotone. 😴. Very Apple.

Pixel earbuds at $179 and arent coming until 2020. Hard pass. Nothing special there.

So far nothing impressive in this keynote. Stadia release date is about the only thing people didnt already know.

I really would not hold it against them if they hire a professional presenter for these events. Apple, Samsung, Google it’s okay if you do that. Really.

Oh thank goodness this man can modulate his voice. That woman was dreadful. I respect her intelligence but she can’t present.

They probably designed it to compete with the 12" Macbook intending to say they are at just over half the price of the competition. Then Apple canceled the 12" MB. :)

I noticed B&H is giving a $100 gift card with pre-order. I imagine Googs will do the same.

Motion-sense and all of this focus on hand-free assistance by voice integration is lost on a phone, imo. I’m not currently, or plan to need to use my phone from further than i can reach/see the display.

I’m not knocking the tech...seems far more useful integrated into devices where you aren’t natively always interacting by touch, where there’s value in being able to make a motion/gesture from across the room or calling out for an action. Put it on all these home devices with screens, Android TVs, even a new Android TV box or Chromecast. Having it on a phone is wasting valuable hardware space and CPU cycles. Of course, just my $0.02.

I'm curious if google photos free unlimited quality backup is going away? They just talked about 3 months free of Google One storage. Let's see if they mention anything about photos backup during the camera section.
