Face Unlock is extremely fast. So fast and accurate. I wish I had it on my Note 10+ and 11 Pro Max.
It looks great but until more apps adopt the new face unlock API, I cant even consider the Pixel. I refuse to go back to the days of pins/passwords.
Not yet.......but I'm sure they will be coming soon....And your banking apps, travel apps and so on?

New photo comparisons
I just played around with the 4 XL in store. It definitely seems like refresh rate is forced to 90hz on demo models even in low brightness which is extra shady on Googles part.
Otherwise, the phone felt great. Another step up on build quality. It was the black model so couldn’t comment on matte finish. Software felt really snappy. Seems like a good phone if not for the obvious drawbacks already mentioned in this thread.

Can any owner tell me what the astrophotography is like on the phone as that was one of the main things that interested me about it?
First day today and it looks like I'll get around 4.30 of screen on time.Battery life is good but not great. Should get between 5-6 hours SOT

That's with the standard adaptive refresh rate and brightness at 74% (audio brightness off)

For all it’s downfalls, I still think this is a great phone once the price drops $200-300. It belongs in a category with phones like the OnePlus and iPhone 11, not the Note and 11 pro.
indeed. Although I watched an iPhone 11 camera comparison earlier, and the Pixel 4’s front facing was much better (detail wise) than the iPhone was.
I've not hammered it but after taking it off charge 24 hours ago and over 9 hours was non WiFi, it's not too bad.

Usual stuff from Google. They rely on early adopters to be their beta testers. They’re good about fixing things quickly but it should have been taken care of before release.
One take away, the forehead on the 4 XL, is way better than the 3 XL notch. Living with a notch for one year I thought my brain just let it fade away. But now when I go back to the 3XL it's immediately apparent and very distracting and ugly.
So as far as design and build quality the Pixel 4XL seems like a much improved phone compared to the pixel 3 XL in that department.

So first full day at work with a so so cellular signal in the building. At home and on WiFi now so should get about 6 hours SOT. Not bad.....but not as good as my N10+ and 11pro max
