https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-4-xl/help/battery-life-90hz-screen-t3981479/page10

Read last few posts in this thread, 90hz forced, still getting great battery life.

I've been using 90hz forced since I got the phone and the battery life seems pretty good. It isn't as good as iPhone Pro, or Note 10+, but it will has still easily lasted the day. Had about 6 hours SOT yesterday before I went to bed with 35% remaining. It is early, but battery doesn't seem like it will be an issue on my XL model.

I've never seen anything like that in the US. I have several banking and credit card apps, and with my S8 and fingerprint authentication there is no additional code required for anything. Do you have two-factor authentication enabled, or are you saying that all of your banking apps just require that by default in the UK?
Just like @MarkX said. I'm talking about where biometrics isn't an option. Like on the Pixel 4.

5.5 hours SOT with 43 hours standby and 13% left. It'll do but it's nothing to write home about.

Face Unlock not registering faces (a few devices with this issue), a camera issue, a screen going completely pink (or maybe it was green; I don’t remember) after just an hour of use, and other screen issues. These were all posted at r/Pixel.
I’m not very familiar with Reddit except for seeing some links that get posted here from time to time.

I know the last few releases were plagued with QC issues and multiple RMA situations on this forum and on Android Central. I haven’t seen that yet in regular forums I check. I know zero about Reddit and how large and active and reliable their community is.

Do you feel these are reliable accounts of problems or could there be some trolls spreading FUD there. Which we do get on this forum too in the iPhone section sometimes.

I’m not happy to hear someone has a pink screen issues. That’s what is going on with my Pixel 2. I can ignore it most of the time but on an area with a lot of white background like this forum there’s pink on the right hand side. Sometimes it is worse than others and I don’t know why.

There are people at r/Pixel who need to RMA their 4/4 XL already. The same happened with the 3/3 XL; phones needed to be replaced on day one. It’s astonishing. I just don’t see this level of QC issues with other Android devices. At least I don’t see it on Reddit. I’ve never had any issues with any of my iPhones. It makes me scared to get a Pixel. The chances of me getting a bad device is probably low, but I read about people needing to RMA their device 5+ times months into owning it and it makes me apprehensive.

Google has a leadership problem. The company needs a stronger CEO. How can Sundar allow the Pixel line to be this bad? With the money Google has, they could make an impeccable phone and open up Google stores across the world to make repairs and customer service hassle-free. If Google at least tried, it could eventually be a Pixel vs. iPhone world. But I don’t think Google cares. It’s frustrating.

How do you introduce Face Unlock and not demand that all banking apps and apps in general have the proper face authentication in place prior to the device’s release? Why aren’t most of the apps still not implementing the new (or hell, even old) Material Design language into their apps (or even in some of Google’s own damn apps)? After Google told developers they needed their app icon to be a square so that it can look nice with any icon style, why didn’t many of the developers listen? I see so many apps in white frames because of this and they look ugly. I just don’t get it. As a CEO, I would be furious. I wouldn’t stand for this BS.
I think the big issue is that Google doesnt see the Pixel line as a priority. Its not what they do as a company, its just a side project to try out new tech and expand what they are which is a data mining company. They know the Pixel line is for tech enthusiasts and not the masses. Which is fine, but they still need to make sure these devices are fully fleshed out and not beta devices. If they really wanted, they could jam a Pixel with the latest and greatest hardware and make it a beast. But its like they pride themselves so much on software, AI, and cloud computing that they insist they dont need to.

They’re definitely not trolling because they’re providing pictures. And the pink or orange screen or whatever it was isn’t the OLED issue you’ve been experiencing. It’s like the entire OS stopped working and instead shows a bright-colored screen and nothing else.

yeah but this happens with mass produced items. I have read here on MR of a person that got an iphone withput IOS loaded yet. Or people getting devices that would not turn on......not just with Apple either...all OEMs. I have been on enough forums to have heard this happens more than you think.

If you want to buy a phone or device that doesn't have one off problems.......you might not be buying anything soon.....

But now if you have enough people with the same issue then there is a problem....

I didn’t deny that there weren’t issues with new phones by other manufacturers. I just said that there appears to be more issues with new Pixel devices in comparison.
The screen was green.......

The whole point is EVERY phone release goes this way......so many want to point out the unicorn and not seeing the whole picture.

There were just as many issues with the iPhone 8 here on MR....some issues with TouchId and bad displays and so forth....yet you still bought one....

More people will go to forums to post issues than people who are happy with their device and have no need to post on a forum...or even know these forums exist.

^ Like I said, I’m not denying that phones from other manufactures don’t have issues on day one as well. Things seem too fly over your head too often.

There's been a total of two reports of premature Pixel 4 hardware failures. Maybe everyone should switch to iPhones since iOS 13.x is not bricking devices and is so bug free.

There were more phones with issues than just these two. Maybe the posts were deleted. It still doesn’t negate my conclusion that Google seems to struggle with QC more than other manufacturers do.

no i get it....you want to point out flaws and defects on Android phones......as something people should look at before buying them. Pointing out every unicorn you can find.

But I'll bet your not as diligent with flaws in Apple products.....just a guess.
Are you in the iPhone forums here on MR pointing out the IOS flaws/issue or issues with iPhones?

Every device release even. Especially with devices that are polarizing such as phones, video game consoles, etc. The problems are going to happen whether it is because of manufacturing flaw, user error, or just bad luck.

But largely it is all anecdotal. Most devices operate fine and as they should. The ones with problems......get youtube videos.

I’m constantly complaining about issues I’ve had with Apple. Why do you think I’m even in this section? God forbid I worry about QC issues in regards to a phone, especially from a company that is notorious for them. I’m a student. I can’t afford to have QC issues with phones. I don’t have time or money for them to happen. Sorry my concern offends you!

I've actually turned off motion sense. See what it does to the battery because I don't need it on anyway. If I'm hovering my hand over it to look at notifications, might as well tap it. I don't mind tapping the screen to unlock either.

oh you are mistaken....nothing you have posted offends me in anyway at all :)
I just know where you are coming from that's all.
I have watched you do this same exact thing in every phone thread in the Alt Section. We have had this same conversation many times :)

Just to give my two cents on the Google QC issues...
People can't bury their head in the sand about issues Google does face with Pixels.
Both my Pixel 2 and 3 had to be returned, both experiencing different *widespread* issues that were all over the internet.

Jamezr returned like 6 of his lol.

No one can deny, Google's QC is absolutely shocking. And I've never known so many issues with a tech device as I have with Pixels and I don't think it can be excused.
The argument of it happening to other devices (particularly iPhone's) is also not comparable to me. Apple sell several million more devices, so of course more niggles and issues will surface.

On the positive side though, Google in phone chat sorted my Pixel 3 issue out very speedily and I can't fault them for that. But so they should, frankly.

I get the general point of whats being discussed here, but lets not act like Google hasnt had quality control issues with every single Pixel release so far. This is the reputation they built for themselves and it'll take a few issue free releases to get out of it.

A nice thing on my 4XL the display the colors are definitely deeper and punchier like a high-end OLED TV, black blacks, and deep reds and greens. And the whites seem white, not yellowish white.

Definitely a better display than the 3 XL

But it doesn't get super bright like other phones.

For your normal use, what percent do you have the brightness set to?
