These antenna design (plastic bands between aluminum shell) is not new, and plenty of cheap Chinese phones don't have issues with build quality despite having these similar antenna design. Yet Google managed to go back in time and didn't figure these out? Huh.

Did Jonny Ive do a consultancy contract with Google for the Pixel 4 or something? :D
Good lord...is that the best they could do? Google has the resources but they are not shy in making bad decisions...

Google just can't get their hardware right. i've been waiting for them to get it right as i loved my Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 but they manage to screw it up year after year, if not for their exceptional computational photography the Pixel would be completely irrelevant :(

So it's not been too long that I've had my sim in my Pixel 4, and I don't really see any need to put it back in the iPhone 11.

I love my iPhone 11, and I won't be selling it until the next iPhone rolls along, but the Pixel 4 is just such a great phone to use that I don't need to use anything else.

I mean, I'm on holiday next week so I'll be taking both phones along with me and doing some camera stuff with both. iPhone can do all the wide angle stuff, Pixel can do the zoom :p, but just using the Pixel is a nicer experience.

I prefer the feel, weight, screen, camera for portrait shots, and even with a case the Pixel is just ergonomically friendly.

I did toy with the idea of trying an XL, but I don't want to. It's too big and too much more expensive for a bigger battery.

I'd also lose out on the free Chromebook offer.

As it stands, the 4 is a keeper. And I'm really glad I went with the orange model.

What do you like about the 4 over the 11?

Edit: Never mind—you wrote why.

I don't understand why Google makes it difficult to buy their phones in many countries. You cannot buy it online from them unless you have an address in the country. Do they want to sell these or not? Do they think it adds an exclusive feel to the product? Kind of foolish in my opinion.

Huh?
Each country has its own regulations governing telecommunication devices, including smartphones.

And yes, Google doesn't care about selling a lot of Pixels. They don't even sell the Pixel 4 in India, where previous Pixel phones were made available. Google is satisfied with people buying their overpriced Pixel phones in some developed countries. :D

The rumor I have heard is that due to other countries having much more strict buyer protection that Google doesn't want to mess with them. I believe some European countries have 3-5 year buyer protection or something like that. Judging from all the RMA issues they have had in the US, maybe they feel it isn't worth the stress? This could be way off

The issue isn’t because of buyer protection, at least not in India, it’s because of the soli radar inclusion. It’s not approved in India and therefore the Pixel isn’t allowed there.

Someone on Reddit posted that Target will be giving a $300 gift card with the purchase of a 4 or a 4 XL on Black Friday. I’m not sure how reliable this information is, but if it is true, it hopefully means that the 4 will have a good discount in general on BF. If Best Buy takes $300 off the price, I’ll most likely get the 4 XL and give it a two-week trial.

Most of these deals require activation. Neither Best Buy nor Target carry T-Mobile phones. Hopefully there’s a deal for an unlocked model for those of us on T-Mobile.

I have Motion Sense off, but in my battery use, showing which things used the most, #2 on the list was Ambient Display.

But with Motion Sense off, what's using Ambient Display? I did turn AoD back on, so is it the always on display draining?

I was having great battery life yesterday, at end of day, bedtime I had like 5h 30m SoT with like 37% battery life left. I didn't charge overnight, and this morning checked the phone and it was at 25%. I was like, how the heck did the phone lose like 10% overnight, when not in use, but unplugged. It's on WiFi. Does Always on Display kill it?

Man if I owned the Pixel, I would be so mad about this. So I would need to root my phone so it is on par with 11 Pro and Note 10 displays.

I doubt it puts it on par with 11 Pro and Note 10 still, but yeah, I wish you didn't have to root for this.

Still have not received the security update for November, which is unusual.

With these 5 or 8 hour SOTs, are you guys forcing 90 hz? I'm going to guess you guys aren't. Which means there is some hope for Pixel 4 to just use 60 hz!

On my XL, I have 90 hz forced, but I'm only getting about 3 hours SOT by the time I'm at 10%. Admittedly, I'm also using Spotfiy for ~4 hours. After killing motion sense, AOD, reach to wake, most of my notifications, getting super conservative with privacy and location settings, I'm up to ~4 hours of SOT. Besides Spotify (which I've ratcheted down and started to listen to from my Mac, I found my display constantly turning on for no reason, and I think disabling reach to wake fixed that.

Also, whoever suggested battery saver mode, it's also helped a ton. So, during meetings or on my commute when I don't intend to have my phone out, it's helped to squeeze out some extra battery.

So, it looks like P4XL will be $200 for BF, not $300. With Preferred Care, the 128GB model would be about $39 per month. A non-discounted iPhone 11, 128GB, would be the same monthly price with Apple Care. Tough decision. I’m not sure what I will do now. The biggest benefit of iPhone is iMessage and the convenience of Apple Care, but there are things about iOS that irritate me and the phone is more uncomfortable to hold than the P4XL. What to do.

Wait—it looks like Best Buy will have the 4 and the 4 XL for $400 off? Am I reading this correctly on their website?
