Wait—it looks like Best Buy will have the 4 and the 4 XL for $400 off? Am I reading this correctly on their website?

it looks like $200 for the unlocked Pixel 4 and $400 for a verizon, at&t, or sprint Pixel 4 "with qualified activation"..

My battery life on my 4 XL seems to be all over the board, but it's never less than 5.5h SoT, and that's at the 10% mark when battery saver kicks in. Some days it seems I can get close to 7.5h SoT if run down to 1%. So I'd say I get on average 6.5h+ SoT.

I get better battery life at work, where my mobile signal is perfect connection, never searching. So that helps keep battery drain down.

- 90hz forced on always ( too nice and smooth not to keep on )
- Motion Sense off
- AoD on ( always on display )
- Location off always. Anything GPS related off
- Lift to reach on
- Tap display to turn on
- Display set to auto brightness always

Wow I'd go for the Verizon offer if it's $400 off instantly with activation. The call filter app doesn't work on my unlocked 3a so as much as I like "unlocked" I'm willing to get the Verizon model with steeper discount and all Verizon features working.

Honestly, $400 off seems too good to be true. I can accept the 4 XL’s shortcomings with this price.

So, it looks like P4XL will be $200 for BF, not $300. With Preferred Care, the 128GB model would be about $39 per month. A non-discounted iPhone 11, 128GB, would be the same monthly price with Apple Care. Tough decision. I’m not sure what I will do now. The biggest benefit of iPhone is iMessage and the convenience of Apple Care, but there are things about iOS that irritate me and the phone is more uncomfortable to hold than the P4XL. What to do.
It depends how long you keep your phones. If 2 years, I’d grab the pixel. If 3 or more, iPhone is the best choice.

I don't know the terms and conditions of this particular offer. But I have seen similar offers where the $400 is actually applied as a credit to your monthly bill over 24 months. If you leave before the 24 months is up, you don't get the full credit.

I just read an article over on 9to5Google that said the Pixel 4 and 4XL are expected to each be $200 off on the Google Play Store.

Edit: Sorry, I just saw that Lava Lamp Freak already posted the info about Google Play Store on the previous page.

Been out of commission the past couple days, some stomach issues :(

And kinda figured this was going to happen though not the 300 the 3 got cut 🤦‍♂️

Edit: I'm a day late and a dollar short for this one lol

Last year with the Pixel 3 - I think - the offer was money off instantly and not bill credits. Through Best Buy w/ Verizon activation. I remember sitting on it for 2 days last Thanksgiving because it was a great deal, I'm pretty certain last year it was instant money off w/ activation. I know I did this when I got my 3XL later in the release cycle. I think I got $200 off, can't remember. We will all soon find out. If it is indeed $400 off instantly with activation, and not bill credits, it's a hell of a deal and I'll jump on it.

If it is truly $400 instant, then it is truly a great deal. However sometimes they require activation of a new line of service.

if it's $400 off right away without bill credits, I'll definitely activate a 4 XL on my wife's Verizon line that always has an "upgrade available" option since we only buy her Pixels directly from Google.

I'm with T-mobile so none of these activation based discounts apply to me. So looking at the best offer of $200 off, I just don't know if its even worth trying out given all the concessions I would be making. Still, I guess the $450 difference between the 4 XL and my current Pro Max is significant, but so are the advantages of the Pro Max.

With the upcoming discounts on the Pixel 4 XL, even if just $200 off, that puts the 64GB version at like $699, compared to the cheapest iPhone 11 Pro Max being $1,100, that's a massive price difference. And Apple never does discounts.

At the end of the day, what does the 11 Pro Max offer over the 4 XL?

- Better battery life for sure
- Brighter screen

And really that's about it, but those two points are pretty big pluses.

Pixel 4 line has;

- AoD ( Always on Display ) I love that feature
- 90hz screen refresh, I have force enabled on, love it
- Camera's are great on both phones, iPhone better for wide angle and videos, Pixel 4 better on still and portrait shots
- Face Unlock, I prefer Pixel 4's way over the FaceID, it's quicker and right to home screen
- Of course the big deal being stock Android over iOS. Stock Android feels fresh and modern, and can do more, and iOS feels stale and like something a decade old totally outdated, and bad.

iMessage, AppleCare, and better app quality are a benefit of iOS as well.

An 11 Pro Max with the same configuration as the 4 XL would cost $56 per month. The 4 XL would be about $24 per month with the $400 discount. That’s crazy. I just can’t justify spending that much for iOS, no matter how much I would like the 11 Pro Max. Best Buy’s BF Pixel deal really surprised me. It’s a bargain. Is $30+ more worth it for iMessage? I don’t think so.

The only problem with that though is that the iPhone 11 Pro is the best phone I’ve ever owned hands down, so if I took this advice, I wouldn’t have my favorite phone anymore.

Not having a biometric unlock option for 90% of my apps that would usually use them on iOS or other Android options is an absolutely huge downside for me. I’m still astounded they didn’t implement it on the OS level.

There is a reddit thread tracking it. There have been a lot of updates in the last week or two. I suspect it won't be a long wait for most apps to implement the new API, now that the old API is deprecated and developers are getting a warning about it.

That's a tiny amount of apps that work with Face Unlock.

As for apps being better quality on iOS, personally I think that's a load of crap. They're just as good on Android. The only difference is some of the actual apps only being on one OS or the other.

iMessage? LOL who frigging cares. I use Google messages and WhatsApp and that's all I need.

App quality between iOS and Android? Don't think the difference is that big today.

Face Unlock for apps? I don't have any apps I use that need my fingerprint or Face.

It all depends on what you want from the phone, and for how long. I don't think there's any doubt both phones are great for the time being. I also believe the iPhone is a far better choice for people who want to stretch out their ownership longer. I read you came from the 8+, so I assume you plan to own whatever phone you buy for 3 years or so. Year 3 will most likely be better on the iPhone, but it's your money and it depends what you prioritize. In a perfect world we could have a 4xl and an 11 pro max at the same time

I agree with this. iPhone 11 is likely the best choice if you value device longevity above all else. Beyond that, it's all personal preference, and the specific device features one finds more valuable, such as the potential of longer battery life on iPhones.

As someone who owns and carries both a Galaxy S8 and an iPhone 7 (for work), I greatly prefer the app UIs and overall experience on Android.

While I can accomplish the same tasks on both devices, I personally find much more pleasure in using my S8 than my iPhone.

I'll be reordering the smaller Pixel 4 once the Black Friday discounts are available. I only cancelled my preorder because of the lack of face unlock for banking apps at launch.

Since moving to the iPhone this has been a big issue for me. LastPass integration with iOS is MUCH better than on android. It’s not even comparable. Android just hasn’t figured out 3rd party password manager integration. It’s half baked. It’s on of the things keeping me from jumping back to android right now.
