That’s the same choice I had to make when I had both. I liked a lot about the Pixel and the potential cost savings (at the time I got the Pixel 4 xl for $700) but in the end the battery life trade off and poor LastPass integration was just too much to get past. But this was early in the Pixel 4 lifecycle and I’m sure they’ve improved battery somewhat with updates in that time.

If for whatever reason the s20 doesn’t impress I may try to pickup the 4 XL again since the price has fallen so far. I have no complaints with the Pro Max but it’s just boring.
Yeah I've never been a Last Pass guy but I guess it supports Face Unlock now so that's a plus.

The battery for me has been so much better than I expected. I'm currently on pace for 8 hours SOT.

I love my XS, but I still continue to watch Pixel 4 videos on YouTube.
Nothing. I'm going at it full force.

PS. I overstated, it'll be more like 7.5 hours. Still pretty good. Not the 9-10 from the Pro Max but it's not giving me any battery anxiety.
How are you enjoying it overall in comparison to your Pro Max?

In your case though, I would stay put. I definitely like the iPhone more compared to Android. This is more of a trial run to see if I could handle the switch and make some $$$ on the side. So far so good but I'm still not ready to put my iPhone in swappa which probably tells me what I need to know. But we'll see.

Well I finally sold my 11 Pro, my only phone is now the Pixel 4 and I couldn't be happier.
Very cool. I'm probably returning my Pixel 4 XL just for the fact that I know of I sell my Apple Stuff, I'll just end up buying it all again on a couple months (maybe weeks) and end up taking a loss to end up in the very same spot.

Very impressed with the Pixel though. Glad I tried it.

To be honest I'm not tied into apple ecosystem so it's easy for me to swap phones. It's not my first time ditching iPhone.

I'm not either. Just have my iPhone. But I keep looking at going deeper into the ecosystem, but then I get nervous that I'll lock myself in too much. I still love a lot of what Android and Chrome OS are doing these days.

I also use LastPass and it’s so much better on iOS. It’s almost not even the same app, it’s a joke on the Pixel. Very inconsistent. Is it an Android issue or Pixel issue? I haven’t tried another Android phone aside from Pixels with LastPass in a very long time.

It's an Android issue. 3rd party password manager integration is much better on iOS. Which is weird considering one of the worst parts of iOS is typically the difficulty Apple puts on letting 3rd party apps have too much control or access.

I sold my iPhone 11 Pro and got the Pixel 4 XL. Already owned the smaller Pixel 4 but typing and viewing videos and photos is a lot easier on the XL.
Battery life issues seem to be fixed after the December/January updates. No battery issues for me:
11 hours since last full charge to 100%.
3h30m SOT.
50% battery remaining.

What I like most is the "Always on display" compared to IOS' always black display ;) and of course the regular updates in the 1st week of each month.
Furthermore Android Auto has less issues (actually none) than Carplay in my Audi A4 from 2016.
Still using Apple music (9.99€ a month) instead of Google Music with Android Auto.
Should Apple consider implementing an AOD with IOS 14 I might switch back or use both ;) .
Google Photos "high quality"-option is ok for me - I won't pay 1,99 a month for original quality and 100GB of google cloud space.

I am a little bit jealous, there are many times I wish I could just get rid of my iPhone once and for all and stick with my Pixel full time. Aside from poor 3rd party password manager integration, I like the Pixel much more than my 11 Pro Max. Every single person in my life uses an iPhone except for 1 friend. I'm not reliant on the ecosystem, the problem is everyone else is and it's a giant pain to use Android for reasons everyone here knows. So brilliant and evil at the same time on Apple's part, I hate it. Most people are way beyond the point of no return within Apple's ecosystem because they just don't care.

On a side note, I've found that very low light photos on my Pixel (NOT using night sight) are absolutely horrible. Photo, video, it's all just a grainy noisy mess. Not at all a problem on my Pro Max. Is my Pixel defective or is this normal behavior?

Agreed. One of the reasons why I switched back within 4 days was because I found out that other iPhone users were texting me 3 days into having the phone and I wasn't getting the messages. This is after following the necessary steps. Again, not Google's fault, but when I get into work and my boss asks me why I didn't respond to his text, that's a problem.

That's terrible, sorry. Same thing happened to me a few days ago with a friend who had been texting me. It's disgusting that these issues are not addressed by Apple.

I'm still trying to figure out how to upload all of my photos on my PC to iCloud, it's just been hanging and not uploading. About 75% of my library is uploaded, the rest just hangs. I think I need to just put all photos into one folder and upload that way (currently separated by year). I'm one step closer to completely deleting everything from iCloud and canceling my 50gb storage, and just keeping everything locally on my PC.

It's a shame and why I'm grateful hardly anybody in this country uses text/ imessage. I'd probably do the same in your scenario.

WhatsApp is used by every single person I know and it's great for switching phones when desired

Seen a few posts above re Astro photography.
I took this one on my original Pixel 4 shortly after launch.
I don't think I'll take a better one, so haven't tried topping it since. :D

Still blows me away the my phone took this photo.

Something similar happened when I had my Pixel 4 and it wasn’t due to iMessage, it was because of RCS. The Pixel thought the person I was messaging had rcs enabled and therefore sent my text through google chat (RCS) when it should’ve been sent as mms. Maybe that’s happening to you guys.

Yep. RCS will have the same issues iMessage has currently. Until every OS uses the same standard it’s gonna be a mess. Most likely not anytime soon, if ever.

^ I don't think it will be as "messy" as it isn't nearly as widespread. Right now its hard to differentiate between google messages employing a similar lock-in approach as iMessage vs a simple bug early in release.

Apple could do much better to fix this issue, but it behooves them not to. You literally have people in this thread that have attempted to switch and then return to iOS because iMessage problems puts their job at risk. Why should Apple fix this, short of legal pressure?

Anyway, I have switched to Signal for ever contact that I can get to do so, which is most of them. It comes with my job, but I know first hand that iMessage is not nearly as secure as the public thinks. Signal is the closest thing to secure messaging we have at this point.

Lovely stuff.

That’s incredible! That’s my one regret, that I didn’t have a chance to try that but it was too cloudy over the weekend.

Quick poll since I’m having second thoughts about returning the Pixel 4XL. This ends at 5pm tonight:

A. Just return it. You know you’ll go back to Apple a week later.

B. Switch to the Pixel and ship up already.

C. You’re f*cking crazy and need serious help.

Thanks for your input.

B.

New iPhone is 7 / 8 months away, give the pixel a fair run without owning an iphone at the same time. If you find you really prefer the iphone in a few months time, you wont have long to wait for the next generation and you'll really appreciate it when you go back.

I've always been guilty of keeping hold of my iphone whilst trialling an android phone and it's too easy to go back whilst within the return window, never really giving said android phone a real chance.

I got rid of my iphone 11 pro max so I could give the note 10+ a real run
