Here's a couple pics of the park itself, it's literally just half a block walk from my house, just this huge park in the middle of the neighborhood.

I know a lot of people declared the iPhone the camera champ this year and because of versatility it's hard to argue that. But when it comes to just point and shoot camera use, the pixel is still the best. I have to actually try to get a blurry shot.

Being back on Android some other minor annoyances that I had forgotten about...no systemwide as blocking unless I want to root or funnel through a VPN. That and apple OS animations are much more fluid. Even an a higher refresh screen, Android unlock and transition animations just don't look or feel as fluid. Same with OS navigation. It's not clunky, but it's not as smooth. Oh and the systemwide dark mode needs a lot of work. But this is just nitpicking. The overall experience has been good so far.

I use 'Brave browser' no need for third party ad blockers, just some settings to adjust in the app itself, and I rarely ever see ads anymore. I used to use Samsung browser, but they absolutely needed third party blockers and a VPN to work well. I find Brave lighter and it works great.

I’m still pretty pissed at Best Buy for not price matching the T-Mobile deal. They said it’s because they don’t carry T-Mobile’s version of the phone. I argued that there’s no such thing as a T-Mobile version. They didn’t budge.

The only difference is one has a locked bootloader until the phone is paid off. That's it.

I currently use Samsung beta but I've used Brave in the past. I just found it missed a few things. I really like the Firefox preview browser but it's still very beta and needs some more time before it's ready.

for animations, did you change the animation speed in developer options? I always change mine to 0.5x as the default is too slow IMO. If you need direction, I can walk you through it.

I know how to change it. I've found in the past that speeding up that transition speed makes the animations look less smooth. Makes the phone feel quicker but a little more choppy if that makes sense.

It's not a big deal at all, just something I've noticed.

I'm still on the 3 XL and love it other than the battery life. I am hoping that when the 4 or 5 budget Pixel comes out the camera will be as good or better than the 3, if so I'll buy one

I did the math and basically keeping this phone until Black Friday would save me roughly $250 compared to if I pre-ordered the Ultra and kept that phone until then. In the next week I'll determine if it's worth it. I'm afraid if I get my hands on a demo of the Ultra it'll be a problem, lol.

I’m thinking you’ll save more than that. Lol

You'd be surprised. This is taking into account selling the Ultra before getting the phone on Black Friday and the expected discount and depreciation. The $250 is basically the monthly payments on the Ultra I would be making in the next 9 months minus the money I would recoup from selling the Ultra.

Ahhh I gotcha. I was thinking straight up cost.

I do not like speeding up the animations, to try to fake the phone feel smoother or faster. To me it's just feels forced, and not an actual way of making the phone smoother. If the phone can't be smooth and fluid with the stock 1 second animations, then the phone has a ****** UI or is a lag OS.

My Pixel or OnePlus phones have always felt smooth as butter with the stock animations, and changing them to .5 or 0 feels really strange and not normal, and actually feel worse. Yes they are quicker of course, but it seems forced and not right.

That's one thing I notice immediately with Android phones is how janky the OS feels. Like, iOS is an automatic and Android is a manual. It's really hard to get pass for me ?.

The $500 price point does really make me want to take one for a spin. I just legitimately have no reason though. Plus I'm too deep in the Apple ecosystem.

One day, when time and money and energy aren't an object I will run dual systems for the heck of it though.

One day when you use both you will see how janky IOS can be as well.

Janky is probably the wrong word. It's just I notice the animations more when they have even the littlest stutter because it's so rare in iOS. But then there are time when I have to take 5 steps to do something in iOS when it takes me 2 in Android. And don't get me started on iOS notifications. Just awful still.

Man they really dropped the ball on the battery on this device. I can get through a day with the XL if I top it off when driving and sitting at my desk. But if I tried to use it normally without charging at all during the day, then this thing is dead before dinner.

What was your SOT? I was getting 7.5 hours. Did the same test without charging it the whole day and I ended the night at 30%. Maybe you’re using it more because you just got it?

I haven't run it dead yet but I'm getting probably around 5.5 but this is with little bursts of wireless charging throughout the day.
