so weird how we all have different experiences. My pixel8pro unlocks way more reliably with the fingerprint sensor than my s24u (and of course p8p in a different class with its face unlock).
right! Because I have just the opposite experience. The FPS on the s24U is way better than my P8P. i used both phones over the weekend in some light rain and drizzle. The P8P struggled more than the S24U did in those conditions.

I would love for all Android phone makers to stop using FPS and develop FaceId similar to iPhones. I mean the facial recognition on my 15PM is flawless and woks in daylight and at night.

Agreed S24 ultra FPS is better

There was talk the pixel was going to be a much improved one but wasnā€™t really the case

I love Face ID but when on a desk thatā€™s where I miss Touch ID

Wonder if this means the current assistant will be phased out eventually
I certainly thinks soā€¦ especially since there is a subscription behind it.

I plan on upgrading to Gemini Advance, but Iā€™m waiting for them to support Family Plan subscription.

Does anyone know how to turn off this really annoying Google AI search thing that happens when you hold the bar at the bottom of the screen?

It keeps happening when I don't want it to and it's really annoying. Can't seem to find anything.

Settings --> System --> Navigation mode --> Gear icon --> "Hold handle to search".

So Iā€™m going to try and bow out from the smart phone hamster wheel I feel like Iā€™ve been on for about 10 years (probably more :p).

Recently I gave Samsung a shot with the S24 (never again), and I have had my 15 PM since launch with the 8 Pro and then 8 reg alongside.

I am now down to just one phone. The 15 PM and I am really enjoying using this device still. Itā€™s not that Iā€™m not enjoying the pixel as I love the phone, but I am finding the iPhone just wins out in lots of different areas for me such as music playback with DA, Apple CarPlay being infinitely better than AA on my BMW IX, and just overall app reliability which I wonā€™t bore with but thereā€™s a lot of instances for me where Apple apps just do a bit of a better job.

So this is me out I think. Iā€™m going to keep popping in and will definitely be upgrading the iPhone and probably try the new pixel or the fold depending on when it lands, but for now, Iā€™m a one phone guy. šŸ˜….
Prob wonā€™t last long, but I do want to try and give the iPhone a shot solo. Iā€™m completely satisfied with it so far and have used it way more than the pixel since I have had both.

It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on why never again with the S24. Do the Pixel 8 Pro and iPhone work ok together? As in having 2 phones.

Wish I could just have one phone but my addiction makes it impossible

Haha all I canā€™t think is that Simpsonā€™s episode where Lionel Hutz is doing a trial and thereā€™s a bottle of Bourbon and he has to run to the phone to call his support and heā€™s like ā€œHello Davidā€¦ Iā€™m really temptedā€. Thatā€™ll be me. šŸ˜‚

In fact, hereā€™s the clip. Replace bourbon with a new phone release. šŸ˜…
