New watch bands are in.
I love them. The leather one in particular is really nice.

And here's the silicone blue band that came with the watch.

And lastly my older bands I had with the Pixel Watch 1.

You can always sell the watch to offset some of the cost but I would wait for deals to come later this year I'm sure there will be some good ones ... definitely I have no use for that temperature measurement although I feel they are just tapping the surface with it now...
Buying something I don't need (watch) and selling it is exactly what I don't want to do, waiting around for some dude from craigslist to maybe show up or not is a waste of time. I just can't stand the size anyways and a gimped regular 8 is not acceptable as I want a flagship device.

The question is what you could possibly want to measure with that sensor, I have a very accurate Bluetooth sensor (cost like 120 bucks or so) where I can for example put it in a freezer and watch the measurement from my phone. That sensor has been helpful a couple times due to Bluetooth allowing me to put it in inconvenient places and walk away. That's not possible when the phone is doing the measurement. Google says you can measure up to 300F with it but wouldn't that melt the phone or pose a risk to myself?

And it's measuring just the surface temperature of things, that's as useless (for me!) as it gets. I'll either want to measure the air temperature or that of the meat in the oven and the Pixel isn't useful for either one. If they treat it like the soli radar of the Pixel 4 then it's dead before it has a chance to be useful.

People still use Craigslist?
Put it on Swappa. Or Facebook or Offer up. There are many other options to Craigslist.
I haven't used CL in years.

eBay is great but they just have too many selling fees now.

The clear Case Mate case I got from Google is just too thick and bulky for my tastes. Plus it's super slippery.

What's a good thin clear case?

I have no desire to wear a smart watch but I do really love the way the Pixel Watch looks.

I have no idea since I buy just what I need and don't do any of these promo deals that deliver me e-waste I have no use for. And I consider these watches e-waste, since Google tells you to buy a new one to replace the battery. (They look terrible too but that is of course subjective.)

Ebay is terrible now, I sold a lot there back in the day and deleted my account a few years ago. The fees are absurd, and for me as a seller I had the issue that Ebay would grant refunds to scammers and make me foot the bill. Anyone who used Ebay extensively in the past will tell you to stay far away from that platform now. It's in the final stages of what's called ******tification (it's an actual word, really). There aren't even any real auctions anymore, sellers bidding on their own items to drive up the price is perfectly normal now and Ebay profits from higher prices of course.

In any case, for the current $999 I'd rather get an iPhone 15 Pro that has the perfect size for me. I don't like the 15 Pro too much either so I won't get that, but between that and the 8 Pro I'd still prefer the smaller iPhone. Why Google can't offer the Pro hardware in two sizes is beyond me.

So I have one package coming from UPS today which is 1 pound, and another package coming via FedEx tomorrow which it 2 pounds.

The one coming today it most likely the trade-in kit, and the one tomorrow most likely the phone and watch.

I know this seems childish, but what irks me is that I ordered this the moment pre-orders went online and it isn't coming on launch day. Every year I have pre-ordered an iPhone I always got it on launch day every year. Google needs to talk to Apple about proper shipping methods.

Yup, same for me. Every time I pre-ordered an iPhone, I always got it the first day. I pre-ordered my P8P on the 1st date, and it still isn't arriving until tomorrow for me, either.
May I ask if you pre-ordered directly from Google or from your service provider? From what I've seen, everyone who ordered directly from Google got their phones first, and then anyone who ordered from their service provider will get it later.

Most phone makers do this. It is nothing new. Apple does the same between the 15 Pro Max and 15 Pro.
"The change means the Pro Max has a wider zoom range, going from 2x optical zoom out and 5x optical zoom in, giving it a 10x optical zoom range and a 25x digital zoom. The Pro goes from 2x zoom out to 3x zoom in, giving it a 6x optical zoom range and a 15x digital zoom.:

Some changes are due to the bigger phones....well being just bigger and allowing more room for upgraded hardware.

I ordered directly from Google.

While I was watching the event, I noticed it came live on their website moments before it showed up on the event page, and I quickly ordered it. So I got it ordered really quick.

yeah I get a new iPhone every year. Apple has shipping and logistic down! I guess it comes from doing this with the 60 Million or so phones they ship every year.

I definitely would not use Craigslist ha that is asking for trouble, I always use Swappa but get you not wanting to deal with selling, but the size and a complaint for many for years with smaller phones and releases.. temp thing i won't even open it..

Same. I know my order went through very early in the process, which is a little irksome that I won't get it on launch day but I will try my best to be patient :(. I also don't understand why a trade-in kit would ship via a different carrier.
Edit: and my phone was still in IL this morning and I live in OK, so I'm not even sure I will get the phone tomorrow either.
