For anyone who might have a Samsung Galaxy S24+ hanging around and who wants a Pixel 9 Pro XL, BB is offering $999 trade-in value and a $200 BB e-gift card (better than Google Store credit IMO). Either that's a glitch, or Google really wants to incentivize switching away from Samsung.

Now if only the modem will be better - less 5G battery drain - than the 8 Pro's.
It doesn't make sense to me either. I only get a trade in value of $410 toward everything else, even a Pixel 9 Pro fold. The Pixel 9 Pro and XL I get $999 value. That's the only reason I'm trading in for the 9 Pro XL. $999 is more than I paid for my S24+.

Thanks for the .JPEGS 😁.
The more I see Hazel the more I wish I'd gone Rose Quartz. Don't care that I'm a guy and it's deemed a "girls colour" 😴.

I am rocking the salmon P8 currently and I think it's an amazing colour.

I can already see what's going to happen. I'll keep the XL until close to end of return window, by that point the regular 9 Pro will be nearly out and I'll do the old swaparoo 😮‍💨

I got to tell you that 9 Pro really feels like a really comfortable spot for those that want to carry the phone without a case I would go with any color I wouldn't even care if you like it I'd go for it I'm looking forward to the hazel but I'm going to have it in the case The only thing about going without a case I feel is scratches to the camera bump and I don't know how it's going to hold up and then thinking cases are going to even out the bump area

Yeah when I get a new pixel every year I always go crazy with cases, camera visor tempered glass protectors etc. But ultimately, few days in I end up with a screen protector on and that's it!

Phones are so well designed these days they deserve to be enjoyed naked as the day god made them 😁. Until you drop them. Which I do 😮‍💨

Well you can always put a case on that girls colored phone 😁.

My P8 is hazel. It's ok, but I liked my Lemongrass P7 way more. They need to bring it back but glad they didn't this year lol. I'm probably skipping the P9 this year but I'd get porcelain if I wasn't.
I don't care for black phones.

I know what you mean about going nuts with cases. I ordered a bunch from Amazon. Rose quartz does look nice but my favorite is still the porcelain color. It just looks SO classy. My 7 Pro is hazel and at first I loved the color because it was complimented with gold trim. However the hazel color on the 9 Pro's just looks too muted for my taste. It's almost a grayish/green i.e. kind of boring.

Yeah it's weird. Some lights I think it looks clean, others it looks muddy and a bit too grey.

Porcelain is nice but a bit too boring for me. I have a feeling hazel will be better in the flesh.
Really missing that blue tbh.

I almost always go black, but to my surprise the hazel color was by far my favorite in person. I’m skipping this gen, but I would 100% go hazel if I were purchasing. Great color…

Hazel looks better with no Hazel case on it because its more shiney but i cant NOT have a case on it lol. I'd drop it more often.

For me to get a black phone, it would have to be because thats all they come in......like the Pixel 4a....but then i put a Blue case on it ;)

I jumped on the offer also. It's effectively a net cost of "free + tax" for the P9PXL, given that I'll use the $200 BB e-gift card for something that I'd have bought anyway. So - a new toy to play with soon.

It seems like America got a lot better deals overall this year.
I'm seeing they have the ability to trade in the old gen pixel watches against a new watch - not an option in the UK.
They also got 200 store credit as well as Google one (where applicable) credit back AND their trade in offers seemed higher.

Wonder if it's because America is predominantly iPhone users so more incentive to make people switch?

I'm more surprised we can't trade in the watch but it was a freebie for us for the last two years I guess...

Got a few questions for you guys.

1. Most people here already had a recent flagship phone (S24 Ultra, S24+, P8P, etc). What is the main reason to change to the Pixel 9? Is it only the camera? Coming from another recent flagship, there's no big jump in hardware, so I'm curious.

2. Would it be better to buy a P8P discounted of the new regular 9? Maybe the new one has better cellular reception and better battery?

I like the design I think it's going to have better battery it's got a new modem hopefully even better reception. And I'd like to switch phones yearly.

With the trade-in in incentives I would recommend going for the 9 series

If you look at all the current flagship phones you really don't need to switch for a good two to three years.. but I don't think that's stopping anybody around these parts..

Sure, but I think there's always a "reason" or justification when changing phones, even if it's not a big one.
Lol,...well I suppose.

I thought about it a couple days now but it don't make sense for me as my P8 works fine and....I have willpower 😂.
My P7 had a few issues and why I got the P8.

I'd like to get the P9....just don't need to. I'll wait for the P10.

If Google sticks to its 7 year support plan for the Pixel 9/9 Pro, then the 8 Pro and 9/9 Pro's will lose support at the same time because the 9/9 Pro's shipped with Android 14. The exception will be the Pixel 9a because it will ship with Android 15. It all boils down to how important is all the AI stuff in the 9 series to you and if you like the look of the Pixel 8 Pro vs the 9 Pro's.

FYI: You can find the 8 Pro on Ebay brand new for about $675.

Good questions.
I pondered this myself, given that I have been nothing but satisfied with my Pixel 8 Pro and Fold and more recently, regular 8. Yup, I had em all 😁.

If there's one complaint about my Pixel 8 it's the battery. Doesn't last a day, and I'm not a heavy user. I'm reaching for the charger all the time come 7pm onwards.

Not the main reason to 'upgrade', though. Mostly, I like the latest and greatest when it comes to tech, as most of here will too I presume.
I also really love the design changes this year and I am hoping for some improvement in performance. Not that I needed it for my use case, but it can never hurt right.

I think if I had to stick with this pixel 8 id be more than happy. But shiney new tech makes me happier 😅.
