Seeing lots of people receiving on the Google Pixel FB page. Loads of Aussies and some American. No UK early deliveries it seems this time!
Looking forward to seeing the Hazel and Rose Quartz tomorrow before deciding which to keep 😁.

I’ve been considering getting a Pixel phone for at least five years now. I’d definitely use it as a second account with its own phone number. The last time I stepped away from Apple, I tried the Samsung S9 Pro tablet. I was shocked by how underdeveloped the software was, both from Samsung and third parties. I couldn’t do much of anything except watch YouTube videos. 🤷‍♂️

I think you would be surprised by andorid and pixels in particular, AI nonsense aside.

S9 Pro? I have tab s9 plus tablet and it's not as powerful as my ipad air m1 was, but is usable. and syncs better with my pixel and windows PC.

According to AndroidCentral only the XL charges at 37W (while 9/9Pro at 27W), hence being able to do 0-70% in 30 min. As much as I wanted to get the compact one, I will most likely go for the XL.

Yeah little things like this make me scratch my head. I thought the smaller Pro would match the XL's spec's, I mean I know not EVERYTHIGN can be the exact same, but come on, charging speeds shouldn't be better on the XL vs the 9 Pro.

Yeah it’s odd. Charging speeds should be the same

37w though is only with googles new 45w charger. Can’t say I will bother buying the charger as charging faster not a big deal not with several other phones. Pixel will likely be charged each night anyway

Sounds like he likes these new Pixel 9's. Good new phones to him. Nothing groundbreaking or amazing, but a nice smartphones for 2024.
I don't know, kinda felt like a lukewarm response from him. it wasn't that he didn't like the phones or classified them as bad and he had some favorite elements but he just seemed to have an almost disappointed tone. There wasn't a lot of enthusiasm, especially for the cameras or much of the new features.

I've only watched it once and maybe I'm imagining it but it just was the sort of vibe I got from the first watchthrough.

Funnily enough Arun seemed way more interested. These pixels are better in every way than the 8 series.
Max is also happy with them.

I understand these influencers I mean YouTubers reviewing the new pixel 9 line are talking about the cool new look. New industrial design the way it feels in the hand. They all seem to like it which is cool. And no surprise.

But to me that doesn't really matter, because once you slap a case on these new phones that brand new industrial design goes out the window, and when you start using them for a week like you did your previous phone, then tell me how they are.

Once the newness wears off, and just using it as a smartphone after awhile, is it truly a huge upgrade over a Pixel 8 Pro or S24 Ultra? Or just slightly marginally better?

Watch mrwhosethebooss review, he even shows on the video how the perfomance is still slower/laggier compared to iOS/S24 in very basic stuff as just opening & scrolling through instagram. Ultimately Tensor 4 is still a "upper mid-ranger (at best)". I need a secondary phone for work and junkware a la AI so this year most likely I will just go with the regular 9 and use buy back next year when they finally use a proper TSMC chip.

Eh. I don't consider 4-5.5 hrs SoT "really, really good." I mean, it's good that they didn't crap the bed, but it's not impressive.

Totally agree, 5.5h SoT to me is just ok to mediocre. To me amazing Screen on Time is something in the 8h SoT, which no Pixel ever gets close to, only OnePlus phones and Samsung Galaxy Ultra phones go there.

Not surprised, sadly it seems this new Pixel 9 line, is just more of the same. Besides the new design and build quality, what's truly new?

To get a super smooth fluid Pixel we have to wait for the TSMC Pixel 10, and maybe even the next gen of that in the Pixel 11 when the bugs or any issues worked out.

Kind of glad I didn't preorder, seems like a marginal upgrade over my Pixel 8 Pro. I might still get one, but waiting for the smaller Pixel 9 Pro to release and play with it in person before making final decision.

Yikes, not looking good based on this video. Camera issues hopefully will be resolved, hopefully. I can't stand lag or choppiness in 2024, period. Don't care about benchmarks or games. Just make the OS and apps and --lens switching within camera-- you know, the bread and butter of the Pixel line-- smooth. That's all I need. There are things I don't like about my S24+, but one thing is for certain, it has been smooth.

I hope I am pleasantly surprised tomorrow.

The early consensus seem to be praise for the design and build quality..MKBHD echoed that sentiment. But Tensor 4 is a super mild refresh and camera upgrades seem to be very minor as well. Feels like the biggest change is adding piles of RAM to be used for AI functionality.

Again, I’m not bashing it—excited to get my hands on my new 9 Pro Fold and I really like the design..loved it on the iPhones and am a fan of the squared off look with symmetrical bezels. Just feels like it’s a small improvement over last year’s models. That being said, that’s pretty much par for the course with all smartphones over the past few years as I think the day’s of major changes are behind us. The iPhone 16 is setting up to be pretty much a repeat of this pattern.

The Pixel 9 Pro cameras are not much of an upgrade at all. That's exactly what he says. Other than the selfie camera, these are the Pixel 8 Pro cameras.

Yep.

If you have a iPhone 15 Pro Max, there'd be absolutely ZERO reason to "upgrade" to a 16 Pro Max. The biggest upgrade would be iOS 18, which 100% comes to the iPhone 15 line as well. Other than that' it's still just another iPhone. "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss"

Fully agree... And this is why I'm still slightly hesitant about the 9 Pro Fold... My current Pixel Fold is faultless, immaculate / as new and does all I need from it... Plus I still absolutely love the form factor of it. It suits my fat hands very well indeed...

I do genuinely wonder what upgrade the 9 Pro Fold will offer me bar the slightly bigger screens and brighter screens...

🤔

I may be totally wrong but I believe I read somewhere that 4gb of RAM is reserved at all times to AI, even if you turn the AI off. If that is the case...these are not quite proper RAM updates.
